How can I shut off the automatic login when I turn on my MacBook Pro?

Ever since I updated to Yosemite I have been forced to enter my password whenever I turn on my MacBook Pro. I went to System Preferences/Users & Groups and see that the automatic login option is set to off, but it is shaded and I can't use the dropdown menu, even though I've unlocked it.
Is this a common issue? Am I just going to have to get used to signing in every time? I'm the only one who uses it, and it's a little annoying.
I've tried searching for help in the discussions and also on google, but I'm not finding any answers.

Did you turn on FileVault when you upgraded to Yosemite? If it is on then a login password is required (sort of obviously). You can tell whether it is on by going to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy and click FileVault at the top and see if the words "Turn off FileVault" are in the button. I'm the only one who uses my Mac also, but the remote possibility of it being stolen makes it worth it to me to have FileVault turned on and a password required. ctl-alt-del > Task Manager > Processes tab, you can end it there.

I can't find a place to turn off the option click shortcut that minimizes the last window and option command click that minimizes all of the other windows. Is there a way to do this? They don't show up (or I can't find them) in the Dock Preferences or the Keyboard Shortcuts.

I use Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and that's the zoom shortcut keys with space. If I use another program on my second monitor and go back to that and want to zoom in it minimizes everything else.

How can I switch off the automatic window size and set the size of the window manually

I need to open the web-page in a window of a certain size. The javascript function window.resizeTo (w, h) does not work. If I open the window using the window.open ("", "", "width: w, height: h, ..."), there is another problem.
The hyperlinks that have to be opened in a new tab in the same window or at least in the window of the same size, will open in another tab of the first window from which I called window.open().
I do not know what it is, bug or as intended, but the normal full-featured window with the right size I cannot get.

You need an extension if you want to set the window dimensions to a specific value or you need to open a pop-up window with window.open and specify the width and height. 
Otherwise a new window opens with some default dimensions as saved in localstore.rdf and you can't easily adjust the dimensions via JavaScript in that case.

Foxfire automatically loads when I boot up my computer after all the other essential programs boot up. I'd like to know how to disable the start-up menu link that allows the program to load up when the computer first starts up because the Foxfire browser isn't needed when I first start the computer. Besides, when I first start my computer, it's inevitably not hooked to the internet and it's just a bit annoying to see foxfire load when it's not needed. Furthermore, it takes up precious memory in the RAM when it's running, thus slowing down my machine. Please, someone show me how to keep this program from booting when I start up my computer. By the way, my system is Windows Vista and Foxfire does not show up in the start-up folder. Only by going to the default program page and clicking on Foxfire does it show that Foxfire has a hidden default that makes it start when the computer starts. All I'm looking for is to not see it when I boot my computer.

Thanks for pointing me to the link about the startup programs changes. I found the solution there. Foxfire was hiding in the hidden startup menu. Once I found it using msconfig, I was able to stop it from loading when I started my computer. Again, thanks for the help.

As long as you don't mind doing a little post publish editing of your .js files, it's fairly easy to do. You will find them in this path on your iDisk, using the Go menu in Finder:
Go/iDisk/MyiDisk/Sites/iWeb/Nameofsitefolder/Page_filesFolder/Page.js
Open the .js files for that particular page on your iDisk with any text editor (I like Taco, and it's free) and make the following changes to the script code that controls your movie: (you will find the movie code near the top of the page in the .js file)
Change autoplay="false" to autoplay="true"
Change loop="false" to loop="true"
Changing controller value="true" to controller value="false" will remove the controller from the page entirely. Make these changes in both sets of tags, (object and embed).
Make the changes and just "Save". Clear your browser cache and you should see the changes take effect immediately. Bear in mind you will have to make this modification each time you republish your site. You can also save this modified .js file and replace the republished file with it, as long as no other changes were made to the page in iWeb.

How can I shut off the back up feature in ITunes. I don't want or need it. Everytime I try to add a single song to my ipod it takes 3 hours to back up. Is there anyway to make Itunes more user friendly I guess is the basic question.

Ok I have to be honest. Apple products and I do not get along. I really don't understand why you get locked out of nearly every feature. Anyway I don't want my Ipod backed up. Apparently now Mozilla creates new versions of their browser and email apps every two weeks instead of just creating updates... I'm tired of all of the pop-up requests for these constant installation requests and all the problems that the new version installations create... I just want to use the software and be left alone.
I can't find a way to make Firefox and Thunderbird stop with the pop-up requests for new installations... is there a way to do this or has Mozilla just got it rigged so one can't just use the software without re-installing a new version every two weeks and running in to new plugin issues and missing features every time?

You have 10.6 on that machine, I suggest you stick with it for performance, third party hardware and software reasons as long as possible.
Consider 10.8 (not 10.7) when it's released, because 10.7 and 10.8 will require a new investment in software and newer third party hardware as it requires newer drivers the old machines won't have. (forced upgrade because of software, really nice of them)
