How can I shut off the back up feature in ITunes. I don't want or need it. Everytime I try to add a single song to my ipod it takes 3 hours to back up. Is there anyway to make Itunes more user friendly I guess is the basic question.

Ok I have to be honest. Apple products and I do not get along. I really don't understand why you get locked out of nearly every feature. Anyway I don't want my Ipod backed up. It eats up memory and I simply do not need it. All I want to do is add a song or two without having to wait 3 hours. I also don't want to waste the space on my computer for the backup files. Lil help? Any answers would be helpful such as why they do this etc...

Sorry but I know of no way of not backing up for a PC.

If I understand you correctly, you are trying to use iTunes to play the Music in your iPod but which is not in your itunes library. I don't think Apple design iTunes for use in your way. As to put and play music in iPod, the music has to be in iTunes first, so you play music in the iTunes music Library. the window with Ipod music is just to show you which music are already in the Ipod, in case you want to Manually Manage your huge music library.

With iTunes 5.x, you could set the iPodService to "Disabled" and keep it from running (useful if you DIDN'T own an iPod!).
But with iTunes 6.0.2, every time you start the app, it reenables the service.
How can I shut this damned service off for good? I *don't* have an iPod!!!

Ever since I updated to Yosemite I have been forced to enter my password whenever I turn on my MacBook Pro. I went to System Preferences/Users & Groups and see that the automatic login option is set to off, but it is shaded and I can't use the dropdown menu, even though I've unlocked it.
Is this a common issue? Am I just going to have to get used to signing in every time? I'm the only one who uses it, and it's a little annoying.
I've tried searching for help in the discussions and also on google, but I'm not finding any answers.

Did you turn on FileVault when you upgraded to Yosemite? If it is on then a login password is required (sort of obviously). You can tell whether it is on by going to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy and click FileVault at the top and see if the words "Turn off FileVault" are in the button. I'm the only one who uses my Mac also, but the remote possibility of it being stolen makes it worth it to me to have FileVault turned on and a password required. We use iPads - mostly 2nd gens - at some customer sites for tracking times. The devices are in kiosk cases, locked down, no access to the Home button, gestures shut off, etc, etc. Essentially, once on the screen we wanted displayed, there is no option for the average user to get to the homescreen or to perform an update.
However, recently with the release of iOS 7 we had a couple folks at these customer sites call us indicating that an end user had started the upgrade process to iOS7. We'd previously heard of this happening last year as well after iOS6 was released. but with the devices located remotely, we coudn't determine what exactly took place with absolute certainty.
According to ALL the forums posts I've read, there is abosutely no way that an iPad simply updates/upgrades itself - even to just DL'ing the new file - it requires a user to indicate that it should do so. But we were being told that the iPad prompted them to do so...even though all the forums said that the devices don't prompt.
I've been an iOS user for about 3 years now, and hadn't previously seen a prompt to update iOS...until I turned on one of our local iPads today for some testing...and was greated by an onscreen Alert/prompt for 7.0.2.

So the question I have is - is there a way for me to shut this off? We've already reviewed the Notifications settings - all of which are off.
This seems to be more of a base-OS level notification. The problem is that this prompts up on the screen in the middle of our own desired screen, and allows an end-user to selecte "Details" and then start the installation process for the update, completely by-passing all efforts and steps to prevent the very thing from happening.
If anyone knows how to shut this off, I'd love to know.

With the external (Firewire) iSight connected, (do not chain external iSight with other Firewire devices) if your  > System Profiler > Hardware > Firewire does not recognize the external iSight, use the suggestions here to test whether your old iSight is still functional:

I can't find a place to turn off the option click shortcut that minimizes the last window and option command click that minimizes all of the other windows. Is there a way to do this? They don't show up (or I can't find them) in the Dock Preferences or the Keyboard Shortcuts.

I use Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and that's the zoom shortcut keys with space. If I use another program on my second monitor and go back to that and want to zoom in it minimizes everything else.
