How can I smooth a clip with part cut out? Someone walked in front of the camera when I was shooting; I removed the frames with the person in them, but this left a slight visual hiccup. What's the best way to smooth this out in APE12?

If you do not have a "cut-away," as Steve mentions, then with those problem Frames removed, I would add a Cross-Dissolve between the two Clips (two Clips, after you have cut out the offending footage), BUT, one thing to consider with any Dissolve Transition, is Handles. You need enough to allow for the Transition - so you might need to Trim the first Clip a few Frames more, and the following Clip, a few Frames less. You do not want to edit material from different frame rates on one timeline. You CAN do this, but it is a very bad idea - and this is why.
Once you establish the sequence frame rate - lets say it is PAL material at 25fps, any material that you drop into the sequence other than 25 fps will have to be changed to play at 25 fps. If the material you add is NTSC (29.97), FCP will DROP 5 frames per sec to bring the frame rate down to 25 fps. Which 5 get thrown away? Every 6th one. This yields a funky cadence that becomes even more complex as as there are also interlaced fields (DV/NTSC is an interlaced format). Oh, and by the way, the image sizes are different as well. DV/PAL has 576 lines of resolution and DV/NTSC has 480. FCP has to scale up the NTSC to fit the PAL frame.
You do not want FCP adjusting these things on the fly. You want to do a thoughtful (and time consuming) conversion so that you end up with all your material in one format with the best possible image from the conversion process. Compressor can do an adequate job with Frame Controls turned on. The Natress Standards Conversion FCP plugin is another way to go. A third option is to find a post house that can do the conversion for you using a hardware based process.
The good news is, once everything is in the same format, editing it will be painless and the output process very quick.
Whatever frame rate/ image size you select, I'd suggest using ProRes for the codec. It is 4:2:2 color and will withstand color correction and composting with much more grace than any variant of DV based codecs.

Premiere CS5 import avi clips without sound. How can I import avi clips with sound without convert?

I have the following problem, please help:
I would like to import avi clips in adobe premiere. All clips have the same avi codec. But unfortunately my adobe premiere does not import the sound of a few
avi clips. It is wired because about 10 out 70 avi clips which have all the same avi codec does not work with sound in premiere CS5. In the timline premiere import the video and audio line but there are no audio waves in the about 10 avi clips. additonally premiere plays the 10 avi clips in the source monitor without sound. Furthermore when I open the 10 avi files without adobe premiere they have sound, but with premiere there are no sound in the 10 avi clips.
What can I do, so that I can import all avi files with sound. I do not want to convert each of the avi files because then they have not a good quality and it is to complicated and it takes to much time to convert all files in this video project and in the other video project in my future.
Consequently How can I import all avi files so that they have immediately sound? Do I have to change some premiere settings?

In the folder where all raw video clips exist there are a few new files with the codec ending: .AVD ("the name of the file".AVD)
But the 2 video clips mentioned above does not have any files like .AVD oder something else like that. But the first one works and the second one doesnt work.

How can I overlap two clips in final cut

I am shooting a music video and I want the actor to appear in two spots in the same shot. I shot some test footage today and I set the camera in one spot for both shots. Shot 1 I told him to stand on the right side of the frame for awhile, cut it and then took another shot with him on the left side of the frame. How can I now overlap the two clips in final cut so that i see him on both the right and left sides of the frame at the same time. Thank you so much in advance!!!!

I apologize if I didn't originally understand your question. It sounded like you had recorded two scenes with the same camera set in the same place for each scene; one scene with the talent on the left and the other scene with the talent on the right. And now you wanted to show both shots at the same time so that the talent will be seen on both sides of the screen. To do that, follow my original instructions above.
But if I did misunderstand, please rephrase what it is you're trying to do.

How can I keep my video sound from cutting out?

The last couple of weeks the sound on my videos has been cutting out after I play them on Itunes on my computer, usually after a few seconds to a minute or two. I do not have the same problem when I load them on my really old Ipod Touch however. How can I fix this problem? Everything else seems to play fine except the video audio on the computer when I use Itunes. I thought it was just the tv show audio that was affected, but I just tried a couple of movies and the soundtracks are having the same problems. The root menu screens were running fine, but when the actual movies started playing it started to cut out. Please help!

Try repair your QuickTime from control panel. Programs n features.
If that doesnot work, go to
Control panel
Sound (Hardware n Sound)
Under Playback tab, highlight each device and click Properties button
Go to Advanced tab and change Sample Rate to 16bit 48000hz (DVD Quality) or 96000hz (Studio Quality), OK n OK.

How can I smooth progressive clips ?

It happened that my camcorder shot some clips as progressive video instead of interlaced video (in Auto mode and low light conditions it makes decisions on the fly to reduce exposure time to 1/25 instead of 1/50, as usually in PAL).
As a result in some clips progressive and interlaced video appear "randomly", actually depending on the light conditions. In the future I'll be careful to force my camcorder to always use interlaced. It's new and I'm still learning all its features...
But for videos already shot this is my question:
is there a filter to smooth the pan movement for progressive clips ?
I tried Motion Blur, Anti-alias, Flicker, but none of them solved my issue.

it is not totally clear to me either.
What I found is that, while panning to a lower light area of the room, the movement suddenly lost smoothness (I can see this only on interlaced TV).
Then, I checked the clips in the canvas frame by frame with 100% zoom (where you can see both fields together in each frame): where the panning is smooth I can see the comb effect due to the 2 different fields, and where the stattering starts the comb effect disappears.
This leads me to think that where the scene is darker automatically the camera records the same field twice in each frame, to have more time to read it...
I also checked in the camera manual and I found a menu command (unfortunately NOT set by default...) that may prevent this by forcing a minimum shutter speed of 1/50: otherwise it might also to go down to 1/12 in very low light conditions.
After setting this option, I shot some test clips and in fact the stuttering disappeared even in low light (and the resulting clip was slightly darker).
Trying to answer your question: is it actually jumping to progessive in auto mode?, I don't know for sure (progressive and interlaced are not even mentioned in its manual,...), but all evidence leads me to think that this is the case.
But it is also true that when the speed is lower than 1/50 many details are lost and everything is kind of blurred. Still I wouldn't call it fluidity since the result is in fact a stuttering blurred image... that is terrible!
That's why I'm looking for a fix on the already shot video.

I would double check that the 'frame blending' option is selected. Otherwise, is the original footage interlaced or progressive? If you shot progressive and only have 29.97 frames (or less) to work with, you might want to try a plug-in. If the frames do not exist, it will probably be difficult to get a really smooth look.
Should you have shot at 30i (aka 60i), you can do some high tech stuff with a playback deck and your original tape- set the deck to progressive and the 60 fields will be tranformed into 60 frames (per second), hence giving a slow motion feel that rivals that of film. (this depends on your original media and what deck you can get your hands on)
I just did this for a music video and even the best DPs that I know thought it was film.

If it's just a clip, you can simply go to the other project and Add Media/From Files and Folders.
But if it's a part of your movie -- say a sequence of clips or a clip that's had effects added to it -- you technically can't cut and paste betweeen projects in Premiere Elements. However, some people have been able to do it using the third party program ClipMate, available online.

This question has a couple parts to it. First, I am self employed and use Outlook as my primary calendar. With my BB7 device this syncing issue was easy but I find it so hard with my new Z30. My email is a rogers.com email. I have 2 email accounts on my device (personal and business which are both rogers.com emails. How can I sync my calendar with outlook and allow changes made in both outlook or the device appear updated on both outlook and my device? When I make a calendar entry in my phone it prompts me to use either my groups, my work email, my personal email and then I see BLINK with the name of my office computer. What should I be using as my default calendar? The one that says BBlink-Computer name or my business email address? Secondly is there a way to sync all my calendar entries with outlook to avoid personal and business conflicts? That is my BBM group calendar entries, personal email calendar entries and my business calendar entries? I'm really baffled by all this. I keep being told I need to set up an outlook.com email address. Do I really need to do this? I prefer not to. Essentially, how can I make all my calendar entries show on my office outlook calendar so I can see everything to avoid scheduling conflicts and not need to check my device before booking an appointment in my desktop outlook? Lastly I have my outlook set to show me Canadian Holidays. How can I get these to appear in my device calendar? Please... This has been baffling me since I for my device about a month ago. I think (and I'll double check) only the BBLink events will sync on a wired USB sync. I'm fairly certain of that.
You'll need to use your calendar syncing via an EAS email account (outlook.com, for instance, is free) to sync wirelessly. It works great. I use it and was a former tied to the USB sync guy as well... and I thought I was gonna die a painful death without it. I found more freedom this way.
This explains the process. But I don't think you'll get BBM Groups to sync.

How can I lodge a complaint with Apple about quality of products?

I am about to purchase my fifth or sixth charger for my 13' macbook... of this last year and a half!! I am so unbelievably frustrated with the quality of my charger and the fact that these have to be replaced so often for products that, in just a few months, will stop working. How can I get in touch with Apple to file a complaint of this nature? None of the numbers listed on the contact website correspond with the nature of my complaint.

lehath9, I don't know if this is the issue you're referring to, but I, too, am terribly frustrated by the amount of money I've spent on genuine Apple chargers in the last 18-24 months.
I believe the quality of the chargers has declined significantly and have had to replace, several times over, the chargers that came with my 2nd generation iPad, my iPhone 4S and the latest iPod touch. The cables/wires are breaking and fraying.
I thought perhaps I was being too rough on my cables somehow the first couple times that it happened, but I know that's not the case now. For comparison, the cables that came with my first two iPod classics and my first Nano are fine. I also took an informal survey via Facebook to see if others have noticed the same issue and got about 20 affirmative responses, all of which stated the problems started with chargers sold in the last 18 months.
I've purchased four replacements in the last six months and the third of those 4 is now broken, exactly as the previous 2 replacements and exactly like the three before those. The rubber/plastic casing for the wires pulls away from the non-USB part of the charger (the end that goes into your ipad/iPhone/iPod). Once it pulls away the wires are no longer supported and they start to hang at an odd angle (no matter how careful you are plugging, unplugging and positioning the charger in the device) causing them to break and of course preventing a charge from reaching the device.

I am using java 1.5, and have made a cell renderer to display multiple lines in rows and it works well, however when I use the new print method it doesn't separate the cells onto the next page, it cuts them and will print the rest of the row on the next page. Does anyone know how I might go about making this happen?

I finally found out the reason, The column heights were being set through my renderer. If I hadn't viewed them in the scrollpane the row heights were set to the default height of 16 therefore when the print method was called it clipped all the rows wrong, what is weird though is that the row height printed out correctly but the clipping area was set wrong because it was getting the default value of 16 from rowHeight(row).

You can install an extension for Safari (I use FastestTube 2.2.9.3) to download from YouTube. However, please be aware that you could be breaking copyright laws when so doing.

The only thing I can do in the Apple ID field is to manage my account and not change it to hers.
