How can I start Firefox in a brand new session?

I got onto a malware site that wants to scan my computer for viruses. There is currently a popup window that says "Threat Detected. Please click the Protect button to make your system safe." I don't want to do that.
I can't close the popup by clicking the 'X' in the upper corner. No other options are available in Firefox. Everything is disabled until I press Protect.
I restarted the computer and restarted Firefox, and the first thing I see is "Threat Detected".
So I want to start a new session so the malware Tab won't open from the previous session.
(I'm using Google Chrome to post this.)

Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to make Firefox forget the previous session.
You will have to redo App Tabs and Tab Groups after deleting sessionstore.js.

This is a very annoying thing. Every update from Firefox resets this config setting back to about:newtab. I changed '''''browser.newtab.url''''' in 12.x to '''''about:blank''''' and it resetted back in update 13.0 and now I have to do the same thing again in 13.0.1.
The drawback with about:newtab is Firefox opens up dataports for every URL that are linked and gets reopened for every lame 'newtab' you click on. Try starting Firefox in Safe Mode (Firefox Safe Mode, not Windows Safe Mode).

Pradip,
There is a fairly good tutorial built into designer 6i. It doesn't automatically install, you must do that yourself. The option is available in your start menu after a successful installation.
I haven't found even one book for Designer 6i.

How can I make my Mac like "brand new"?

I apologise for this being somewhat rambling but it's hard to explain exactly what I want to do.
I have decided to give my iMac G5 to my sister-in-law. (I have already replaced it with an Intel iMac and MacBook and three computers in one house is over the top!) I would really like for her to have the "out of the box" experience as if the Mac was new.
It originally came with Panther and iLife 4. I have since upgraded to Tiger and iLife '05 and I would like to have these installed for my sister-in-law rather than the original software. However, she needs Appleworks which I only have on the Panther disks. I know I have to do an erase and install of Tiger (I'm not quite sure how to do that though) and install iLife '05. I assume I can just install Appleworks from the Panther disks. Can I do all of this and not have to enter personal details, such as a name for the home folder? It would be nice for my sister-in-law to plug in the Mac and then get to do that herself, as if it was brand new.
My sister-in-law isn't terribly familiar with computers in general. She's never even seen a Mac. I realise I could just do the Tiger install and leave her to do the iLife and Appleworks. But being so new to it all, it would be easier if I could do it for her.
Any advice, as always, would be appreciated.

If you have ever had any personal files on the iMac which you would rather not share with anyone, you should use Disk Utility to erase the hard drive using the option to write zeroes. Overwriting the files is the only way to ensure that they can't be recovered at a later date.
After that is complete, use the restore discs that came with your iMac to reinstall all of the original software (including AppleWorks). Then use the Tiger install disc to upgrade it to Tiger.

you can burn dvd's using disc utility in your utilities folder, or if you want iDVD, you will need to purchase the iLife '11 boxed set.

If you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and remove the Firefox program folder to do a clean install of the new version.

* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.

Did you install it on your old machine? Is the old machine still around with you in working order? If so then there is a tool called Belarc Advisor that can retrieve the serial number from the old machine. It is for Windows only so if you are using Steve Jobs machine then you are in bad luck. hello, this sounds like a problem possibly caused by malware on your pc. please go to ''firefox > addons > extensions'' & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and do a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner].

You can set the pref browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent to false on the about:config page.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
*Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)
