How can I stop loading recently opend pages documents?

Hi there,
on starting Pages it tries to open the recently opened documents (one pretty large one stored locally and a smaller one in iCloud).
It appears a progress bar without any text:
I could'nt find a way either to start Pages without opening a file nor to cancel that loading (or whatsoever Pages is doing).
After killing the application it still behaves the same way.
Tried to find a file in Library folder having encoded the names of previously opened files, but couldn't find one.
Any suggestions?

Hi Johannes,
Some ideas that might work.
Force Quit Pages if it is still trying to load that document.
Make sure you have backed up your files before trying this!
Hide the document from Pages by copying it to another storage device (such as another disc or a USB memory stick). Delete the document from your Mac hard disc. It will no longer appear on Pages > Menu > File > Open Recent.
Or,
In Pages > Menu > File > Open Recent > Clear Menu.
If either of those suggestions work, close all Pages documents, Quit Pages and Shut Down your computer.

The data is spread throughout a pages document in specific areas here's a copy of an invoice for you to have a look at.

I would like to remove the section dividers in a Pages document so that all pages are a part of one section, not several. I would like to be able to number the pages consecutively from beginning to end of the document.

Section Breaks are characters, so you can just forward or backward delete them.
You can also set the document to continue numbering from the previous section.

How can I stop Safari reloading web pages every time?

When I am using Safari on my iPad I frequently want to jump between web pages or between the internet and other applications. This is simple on my laptop as once I have loaded a page it does not require reloading until I ask it to, but on my iPad I find it next to impossible as each page gets reloaded when you move back to it. We have a slow internet connection and that coupled with the latest version of iOS working slowly on my iPad makes it very frustrating.
Is there anyway I can stop Safari from doing this?

I wish it was that simple, but I'm afraid it's not. Turning off Background App Refresh doesn't affect page reloading. Supposedly the reloads are due to limited memory forcing Safari to keep no more than a very few (3 to 5, depending on device) pages in memory; pages therefore routinely get deleted from memory, thus forcing reloads. I haven't tried it yet, but reportedly the iCab browser ($1.99) retains its tabs / web pages and will display them without reloads. As will a couple of other browsers, just not Safari. How can I bulk import word and pages documents to wiki

I have 300 GB of documents currently held in a file share. I would like to import them all into a wiki as documents and then task the document owners with annotating the documents. Is there any bulk import method (shell or applescript are fine) that the community knows of?

In the end, I installed Alfresco on our mac mini server and imported all the files into that. There are a few rough edges but it has good integration with MS Office (looks like a SharePoint server) and offers web access to remote workers. I managed to use Open Directory for user and group accounts so no additional users to set up.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

How can I stop Firefox from asking me over and over (even on pages with no flash content) to install Flash? I don't want Flash installed and this stupid pop-up.

So even when I load up websites (like ones we here at my job have created) with very simple HTML and absolutely nothing Flash related, I still get a pop-up asking me to install flash (pops down from the URL bar at left.) How can I stop this without disabling all plug-in updates?
Moreover, why in the name of all that's good is it asking me about Flash when I have no pages open with anything remotely Flash like on them?

I do not see why this should happen because of Firefox. Maybe you have some sort of adware on your system.

Try Firefoxin safe mode to rule out your standard extensions. if that does not solve the problem then scan for malware with multiple and up-to-date tools.

How can I stop my home page from opening OVER a page from a link I just clicked on?

If I click on a link from an email, Firefox always opens 2 pages with my home page (Google) covering up the page I clicked the link to go to. How can I stop it from doing that?

There's a good chance this is related to a bug that kicks in when you do not have Flash running in any tab and you open a new window to a page that does use Flash: suddenly, the previous window (typically the one from which you launched the link or bookmark) comes back to the front.
