How can I stop my iMac going to sleep irrespective of energy saving settings?

I've just bought Apple TV but can't enjoy it because the iMac keeps shutting down, disrupting the connection to iTunes. I've set the Energy saver settings to 'Computer sleep: never' and Display sleep: never', but it still shuts down apparently at random. I've even set the screen saver at 'Never' - so what do I find? I come back after a time away from the desk to find the screensaver going and the computer asleep. When I wake it up it complains that (for example) 'MS Word interrupted log-out' - well, I'm not surprised - I didn't tell it to log out in the first **** place. it takes a lot for me to say this about any Apple device but I'm getting seriously fed up with this machine. BTW it's an iMac 21.5" just over a year old and running all the latest updated software.

You can reset the password via Single User Mode or you can completely remove the dslocal database and start over.
If you want to delete the DB and start over (no user data will be deleted), follow these steps:
1: Boot the machine into Single User Mode (Hold down Command and S keys on boot up)
2: When you get to the command prompt, mount the file system as writable with this command:
     mount -uw /
3: Deleting the old Default node...
     rm -R /var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default
4:   Copying Default node template...
     cp -R /System/Library/DirectoryServices/DefaultLocalDB/Default /var/db/dslocal/nodes/
5: Removing Shadow Hash files... (depends on history of machine)
     rm -R /var/db/shadow/hash/
6: Removing .AppleSetupDone...
     rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
7: Reboot the machine with the reboot command
That will present you with the setup assistance and no users on the machine. Create a new account on the machine.

Once you have added a new Email to each device delete the original Email that was there which should have been the same as your Apple ID. Then when you send a new message, send the message to the Email for that person that was just added to their iPhone. There is no need for each family member to create their own Apple ID just to use iMessage. Each family member would only need to create their own Apple ID if everyone wanted to use iCloud and not have all family members data, contacts, calendars, etc sync together. If you are also using FaceTime between iPhones do the the same thing in the FaceTime settings.

Machine goes to sleep faster than Energy Saver settings

(I've searched for existing threads aboutthis but couldn't find any. Hope I'm not "re" posting)
I use my laptop (MBP 2.4, 8gb, INtel Core i7) to play music live, so I need it to not go to sleep for at least... 30-40 minutes as I will frequently not touch it directly for that long as I'm busy playing my instruments. But it goes to sleep consistently after about 10 minutes even though I've got the display set to sleep abfter 1.5 hours and the computer to sleep after 2 hrs.
Then I noticed the same thing on my Mac Pro in my studio. Same Energy Saver settings, still goes to sleep after about 10-15 minutes. Which means I have to re-enter my password there too. Same thing on my older MBP. Theyr'e all on Lion 10.7.4.
This is very annoying. Anyone know what I'm doign wrong?

I'm not sure why Energy Saver is doing that, but you may want to download Caffeine from the Mac App Store. It's a menu bar application that you can click and unclick that, when clicked, keeps your Mac on until it is unclicked or if you close the laptop lid/manually put it to sleep.

How can I stop my MBA going into Time Machine every time I restart?

Every time I restart by MacBook Air, it starts Time Machine and I have to cancel out of it before I can start working.
My iMac and my wife's MacBook Pro (both also running Lion) do not do this.
Any suggestions on how to stop this happening?
I have an MBA running Lion 10.7.2.

Check that Time Machine isn't in your Login Items:
 > System Preferences > Users & Groups | Login Items
If it is, highlight it, then press the minus '-' at the bottom.

How can I stop my iMac crashing when I try to play a project full screen?

When I click on the icon to play a project full screen, I get the dreaded rotating circle thing, then it kicks me out (saying "imovie quit unexpectedly"), and asking if I want to "ignore, report or relaunch". How can I stop iMessages from going to *all* of our devices?

As many households do, we share the same AppleID so that we can share apps and information easily. With iOS5, now we iMessage each other for free, BUT all other iMessages that we send to other iOS5 users are also blasted out to all other iOS5 devices. My husband doesn't want to see all my texts to other people, but now there is NO WAY to send a normal text to other iOS5 users...it will only go out as an iMessage. Is the only solution to get a separate AppleID for my husband and then buy all of our apps again for him? That would be a huge pain, essentially requiring him to erase his iPhone and iPad and start over. Or do I disable iMessages for him? How can I stop my Imac with Mountain Lion from draining the wifi connections? It's connected to the router by wire and the wifi on the Imac is disabled.

Okay so about 2 weeks ago, maybe less, my mom purchased a used IMac and then upgraded to Mountain Lion. Ever since she powered on the computer I haven't had the same capabilities on my PC laptop as I used to. Youtube takes forever for the videos to load and sometimes doesn't load at all. On skype when my friends send files it's estimated to take hours what should only take moments to download.
Around the same time as when we got the IMac, I had also installed a laucher for a website that was required by my school in order to do my work. At first I thought that was what was causing the slow internet and I swiftly uninstalled it, but the problem still continued. Please I know there could be other reasons for the slow internet but I really want to explore this possibility. Please, I really want my internet back.

The browser is loading https websites even when I type in http. Asking for security certificates, etc. My home page is listed as http:// ....but when Firefox opens it, it is https://
I have changed the autobar fill in abbout:config, but it has had no effect.
The only solution I've seen on the Internet so far is to switch to Chrome, something I'd prefer not to do.

If what you want to do is share your purchases with one Apple ID and have other stuff separate, that's pretty easy.
Check out the section "Use one Apple ID for iCloud and a different Apple ID for Store purchases" in this article.
Set up your Apple ID for iCloud and iTunes - Apple Support
Basically he would use your Apple ID for the Stores (iTunes, Apps, iBooks) and his Apple ID for everything else (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, FaceTime, Messages etc).
Now if he has been purchasing stuff on his own account then you would have to make some choices on the purchase accounts.
You may also want to check out Family Sharing, which allows people to share purchases within a familly, each having their own IDs.

Hopefully this will help you. Try placing your iPad in recovery mode again. You may have to try this a few times.
