How can I stop PDF optimizer killing hyperlinks?
I have a 10MB pdf 50-page magazine produced from InDesign (CS4) that contains numerous hyperlinks. Using pdf optimizer brings it below 5MB but kills all the hyperlinks. After experimenting, I discovered that hyperlinks to external sites and emails could be preserved by unchecking Discard all comments, forms and multimedia under Discard User Data. Nonetheless, all internal hyperlinks pointing to other pages in the mag stopped working.
I experimented further, only to discover that with every box under Discard Objects, Discard User Data and Clean Up left unchecked, the optimizer still kills internal hyperlinks. Hovering the mouse over the link produces the little hand with the pointy finger, but clicking has no effect. I have checked the links with the link tool and they appear to be identical before and after optimization.
Can anyone explain this? Does anyone have a cure or workaround?
Using Acrobat 9 Pro on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.6.8
I had the same problem. Through trial and error I found that two settings need to be turned off:
- Discard User Data > Discard all comments, forms and multimedia
- Discard User Data > Discard external cross references
BTW, I am on CS6 and Acrobat XI, also using InDesign to created the documents I later converted to PDF.

How can i stop PDF form from scrolling?
I want to create a PDF form using Acrobat Pro XI that acts like a multi-page data input form. I'll jump to the various pages using buttons down the left side linked to pages via Javascript code. But the user can still scroll the page, which makes the form look quite strange. Is there a way to stop this scrolling, or some trick in JS that will force pages to be displayed with their top-left corner (of each page) always sitting at the top left corner of the screen?
Not possible.

How can i stop iOS6 from killing my iPhone 4s battery?
i have ttried resetting all seetings to default, i have nothing running in background, have stopped all cellular activity except phone, and still my phone depletes at the rate of 30%/hour. lasted 1.5 days without a charge before the iOS 6 'upgrade'
I have also upgraded my iPad2 to iOS6 with absolutely no detriment. what gives?
I'm ready to reactivate my android phone. HELP APPLE!My apologies...the version is 11.1.4.62 not as stated aboive in my problem description. I'm trying again and it just finished syncing fine and my iPhone 5 is still connected to iTuns physcially with USB lightening cable and is displaying the iPhone icon top right. I clicked on it and iTunes is now "hung' or locked up. Shows to be an active running application but can't get back to it so willl have to kill with task manager. There is some kind of problem going on with the latest version of iTunes and Wndows 7 and 8.1 or something. My iPhone 5 now has a new feature that it is now asking me if I "Trust" this computer. iTunes just came "unhung" after several minutes while I was typing this. Now I am going to start the backup to this computer HP Winsows 8.1 and iTune 11.1.4.62 and see what happens. Says it is Backing up Jerrys iPhone but the Barber Pole progress bar is not turning an iTunes is hung again and I cant get back to it from this page I am typing on. Maybe it will eventually release as it did a moment ago.

How can I stop acrobat dc continually loading the right hand toolbar on every pdf I open
How can I stop the right hand toolbar continually loading in the new acrobat dc, it is infuriating and am getting extremely annoyed with it as I have to close it every time I load a pdf. I use the arrow to close and it reopens on the next pdf.
Yes very disappointed in how Toolbar functionality generally is so degraded with this DC version. It is as if the product designers have no idea how people use the product. And it degrades its most basic functionality, the ability to read a PDF. I am tempted to switch to one of the many other PDF readers which is one less reason for Creative Cloud.
The default toolbar contains numerous sticky items that I have never needed in the past 15 years, as sticky icons anyway. That little cell phone icon, email, print, and now with Home/Tools/Document alongside with no ability to move them. These fill valuable toolbar space, the result being that side-by-side windows no longer display the toolbar items I actually use. I almost always have PDFs open beside other applications so this means 100% of the time the new design is flawed vs the prior. This is really really basic for any application: personalized toolbars. It was present in WordPerfect in 1993, for example. DC is not to 1993 UI standards.
Get on this immediately, please. Specifically, get rid of the persistent right pane as many of us clearly do not want to use it "all the time" as is forced. And, allow the top toolbar to be fully customizable so those of us who have been customizing toolbars in our applications since 1993 can do so in this allegedly state of the art PDF reader. -

In Word, I'm assuming that you're highlighting the text that you want to link to and using command-K to insert the hyperlink:
The hyperlink dialog box should look like this:
Is that what you're seeing?

Word hidden text printing to PDF. How can I stop this?
I am using Acrobat X. Every time I try to convert Word to PDF, the hidden text in Word appears in the PDF document. I don't recall this happening in earlier versions of Acrobat. How can I stop hidden text in Word from printing to PDF?
On the Mac there is not Reader Uninstaller.
For a simple uninstall You simply drag the application to the trash and empty it.
For a complete removal it takes a bit of doing.
Reader Removal Process
1. Use the Go menu>Go To Folder
2. Paste the path in the Go To Folder dialog:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins/
3. Select the file "AdobePDFViewer.plugin" and move it to the Trash
4. In the Authentication dialog, provide your Administrator password.
5. Select the file "AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin" and move it to the Trash

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/
9. Select the folder "Reader" and move it to the Trash
10. In the Authentication dialog, provide your Administrator password.

12. Paste the path in the Go To Folder dialog:
/Users/[USERNAME]/Library/Preferences/
13. Select the file "com.adobe.ARM.plist" and move it to the Trash
14. Select the file "com.adobe.Reader.plist" and move it to the Trash
15. Select the file "com.adobe.Synchronizer.11.0.plist" and move it to the Trash
16. Use the Go menu>Go To Folder
17. Paste the path in the Go To Folder dialog:

If my network connection goes out briefly due to a problem at my ISP, FireFox immediately opens a "diagnose network problems" page. This is particularly annoying when I don't even have FireFox or any other software open. Ideally, I do NOT want FireFox to even check if my Network is connected. How can I stop this?

Whenever I print a mailing envelope in Lion's Address Book, it prints fine but then prints a blank page following. How can I stop this?
HP printers for years have had a problem printing an extra envelope from the Apple Addressbook Application with the # 10 envelope.
Solution: Select a #9 envelop. This prints about the same size and does not have an extra envelop.
How to: From Address book, select print, Style: Envelopes, Layout: Layout pulldown Official 9 then print
Interestingly the two smaller and two larger sizes only print one envelope. You can test this by clicking pdf and open pdf in preview.
Over the years I have called HP and they couldn't solve the problem.
I have told Apple today when I figures out the workaround. -

I cannot download PDF documents. I get an error message; i.e., The document “1-15_HowtoSellWithoutSalesy.pdf” could not be exported as “1-15_HowtoSellWithoutSalesy.pdf”.
This is a recent event since I installed the newer version of Adobe. Any thoughts?Actually, I have two websites: Safari and Firefox. It doesn't matter which website I'm logged in to, I get the same message. As for downloading from the Adobe website, how do I do this? I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to completely uninstall Adobe and reinstall the latest version. Is this a good idea or will I lose the PDF's I was once able to download? As I said, this problem has been going on for the last 6 weeks, when I downloaded the latest version of Adobe.
Thanks for your continuing help.

That is not a Reader message. It is a message being generated by the website. They may have a javascript or something trying to prohibit the download of the pdf to your computer. Try downloading a pdf from the Adobe website and see what happens.
