How can I stop spam

Hi there,
I keep getting these really annoying spam emails.  Messages from people claiming the have added me as a friend on some social networking site or another.  Te only social networking sites I am on is G+ and Twitter, and none of these requests are coming from those. Instead they are coming from social networking sites that I have never heard of and when I search google for the name of the so called "social network" I get thousands of results saying that it is spam.
This has been going on for months now and I am sick and tired of it.  I know I can set my spam filters to exclusive but that only works on the mail.app client and its working across my other devices.  Besides, I sometimes do want to recieve emails from people or mailing lists that are not in my address book.
I have an iCloud account, so I was wondering if it would be possible for me to change my iCloud email address.  I don't want to create a new iCloud account because I currently have 25GB free from apple as I was a MobileMe user before upgrading to iCloud.
All I want to do is change my iCloud address from xxxxxxx to something unrelated to prevent the spammers sending me all their rubbish trash.  I will be easy forme to do a bulk email and send my new address to all the people in my address book and to update my iCloud preferences so I continue to recieve email across all my devices.
Te question is:  will this work, will this stop the spammers and can I do this anyway?
Thanks
Jay

Although you can create aliases for your iCloud e-mail address, that doesn't solve the problem... the original iCloud e-mail address will still be the same. Unfortunately, there's no way to change it and keep that 25 GB of space from MobileMe. You would have to create a new iCloud account - which would involve many other hassles as well - and delete the old one.
Spam is, unfortunately, just a fact of life these days. You just need to use a good spam filter that will act on the messages on the server. If Mail on your iMac is successfully catching those messages, leave the iMac running with Mail open. It should file spam away so you will see very little of it on other devices that don't have spam filtering (like an iPhone).
Alternately, if Mail is not doing the job, try a different filter, like SpamSieve.

How can I stop unwanted mail, i.e. Bulk mail and spam ?

You can't, other than by changing to a new email address and then never giving that out to anyone other and very trusted friends and families. All you can do is try to filter such messages. Mail in Mac OS X has a Junk Mail filter, as may your email provider, or you can use a third-party filter. I use SpamSieve and have found it well worth the cost. For identifiable senders, you can also set a Rule in Mail to mark junk messages as Read and move them automatically to the mail trash.

  • How can I stop Spam reaching my iPad?

Could anybody help me stop spam reaching my iPad? We can filter and "junk" mail on the mac but how can you do this on the iPad? ( and iPhone for that matter). Would be grateful for advice. I have found an app called iSpamDrain that may help but am not entirely comfortable with the fact it seems to be cloud based and you have to give them your email password.

I have found what looks like a promising service to try and stop spam, it is http://www.spamcop.net/ces/pricing.shtml
I wonder if anybody else has any experience of it?

  • How can I stop spam from someone called AT&T High Speed Internet? I do not know what the email address is.

I am receiving 100's of spam emails. They are all advertising different types of products but they all say they are from AT&T High Speed Internet. I have used the junk filter on them but it does not pick them up as junk. I have to do it manually each time. I have contacted my UVerse provider and they cannot assist because it is getting through Yahoo to Thunderbird. They say that it is a problem that I will have to have assistance from Thunderbird to resolve so that I can have this listed as junk and will not have to do this manually. I am at my wit's end. Please, please help me!

Yahoo has its own junk mail filter (Spamguard), which you should confirm is enabled:
    * [https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mail/stop-spam-yahoo-mail-sln3227.html Mail Help | - SLN3227 - Stop spam in Yahoo Mail]
The significance of this is that marking messages as junk in Thunderbird probably isn't integrated with Yahoo's system, so Yahoo may not be getting trained to block them. You might need to go into Yahoo from time to time and mark accumulated junk as spam.
Separately, there are solutions for filtering spam on your computer as the mail is downloaded from Yahoo. Thunderbird has a built-in filter, as described here: [[Thunderbird and Junk / Spam Messages]]. However, if that isn't as effective you would like, there are third party products as well.

  • Recently started receiving ***** enlargement spam to my iphone - how can I stop it ?

I have recently started to receive copious amounts of spam on this subject - how can I stop it.  I don't have access to the service provider for the particular email address it is coming to

Is this an IMAP account?  Does it have a default SPAM folder.  At the least you can try transferring them from the inbox to the account's SPAM folder.  Often a providers system does use what it sees in your SPAM folder to train its own spam filters (one of the reasons many providers will tell you not to delete spam immediately, but leave it in the SPAM folder for a week to a month so their screening software can possibly learn from what's in there).

Apps are permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them, and all future updates will require you to enter the password associated with this ID, whether you are currently using this ID for purchases or not.  If you are being prompted for your sister-in-law's Apple ID when updating it means that there must be one or more apps on your phone that was purchased using her Apple ID.  (When she synced with your computer it may have transferred this app to your library.  It was subsequently synced to your phone.)  The only way to stop the prompt for her ID is to delete these apps from your phone and your iTunes library and repurchase them using your Apple ID.

    Good Day,
Although, I do not know you in person, I have received your contact via, personal search while seeking a reliable but obscure individual to assist me in this pending transaction. It became necessary for me to seek your assistance as i want you to assist me in investing my share of the money in your Country.
Let me start by introducing myself. I am Mr.Wong Cheng director of operations of the Bank Of Japan,United Kingdom . I have an Obscured business suggestion for you . In 2003, the subject matter; ref: bb/boj/bank/0012  came to our bank to engage in business discussions with our Private Banking Services Department. A client of ours informed us that he had a financial portfolio of 8.35 million United States Dollars, which he wished to have us turn over (invest) on his behalf and i was the officer assigned to his case. The favored route in my advice to customers is to start by assessing data on 6000 traditional stocks and bond managers and 2000 managers of alternative investments, this yielded funds in just 2 Years.
In mid 2005, he asked that the money be liquidated because he needed to make an urgent investment requiring cash payments in Europe.I undertook all the processes and made sure I followed his precise instructions to the letter and had the funds deposited in a security consultancy firm,He told me he wanted the money there in anticipation of his arrival from Norway later that week. This was the last communication we had, this transpired around 9th October, 2005.
I made futile efforts to locate him I immediately passed the task of locating him to the internal investigations department of the bank of japan.Four days later, information started to trickle in, apparently he was dead. In line with our internal processes for account holders who have passed away, we instituted our own investigations in good faith to determine who should have right to claim the estate. This investigation has for the past months been unfruitful. We have scanned every continent and used our private investigation affiliate companies to get to the root of the problem.
What I wish to relate to you will smack of unethical practice but I want you to understand something, there is US$ 8,370,000.00 deposited , I alone have the deposit details and they will release the deposit to no one unless I instruct them to do so,i alone know of the existence of this deposit for as far as BOJ is concerned.
My proposal;  I am prepared to place you in a position to give instruction for the release of the deposit to you as the closest surviving relation.Upon receipt of the deposit, I am prepared to share the money with you in half. That is: I will simply nominate you as the next of kin and have them release the deposit to you. We share the proceeds 50/50.
I am aware of the consequences of this proposal.I ask that if you find no interest in this project that you should discard this mail.I am not a criminal and what I do, I do not find against good conscience, this may be hard for you to understand, but the dynamics of my industry dictates that I make this move.
If you find yourself able to work with me, Contact me only through this email address (XXXXX),Please observe this instruction religiously. Please, again, note I am a family man; I have a wife and children.I send you this mail not without a measure of fear as to what the consequences, but I know within me that nothing ventured is nothing gained and that success and riches never come easy or on a platter of gold.
I await your response, here is my Email again (XXXX)

Unfortunately, spam is a disadvantage to having an email address and there isn't much you can do to stop receiving them. However, you can filter these messages using a spam filter. Check with your email provider to see what options they offer to deal with spam. If you are using apple mail, turn on the junk mail filter in the settings (Mail, preferences).

  • In OUT Bound of a Jaxws provider, how can we stop the provider invoking its endpoint and send a response back?

    Hi One & All
While we are working on Delegate(provider) for JAXWS client handler in Weblogic10 , we have some technical issues and need some assistance.
    Problem Description
In OUTBound of a provider, how can we stop the provider invoking its endpoint and send a response back?
    Example:
I have a provider with some handlers configured for both IN and OUT flows. When the Jaxws provider is making a request, the OUTBound Handler gets invoked and in this Handler I would like to stop invoking actual endpoint and send back my own response. That means I should be able to tell the Handler chain to stop further processing of this flow, set a response message into message exchange and invoke the IN flow. How do I do that?
This kind of mediation/interception is possible in standard specifications like JAX-WS, Servlets etc… wondering if Weblogic10 JAXWS provides any sort of this kind.
Also we would like to know who is invoking a provider endpo     int in JAXWS stack in weblogic10? Is it an OUTBound handler at the end of handler chain or some other transport component after the handler chain?
    Thanks in Advance
    Suresh

I completely agree with this....I have used Windows and Skype for many years. I recently installed an older version of Skype to run on Windows 8.1 because the new version is SO AWFUL. As much as I prefer the older version (6.14), the daily number of SPAM CONTACT requests is rediculous and most are just variations of the same spammer. Maybe it is time to look for a replacement for both?

We will need more information to be able to assist you.
These message yoy are receiving are probably just a particular type of spam.  However it is also possible (unlikely) that your email account is being used to send spam, and that these are the bounce messages.
To tell the difference, you need to look at the email headers.  Open the message, then go to the View menu and select Message -> All Headers.
Select the text and post it back here (remembering to obscure your own email address first).

  • How can I stop using my primary Apple ID (Gmail) but leave my secondary Apple ID (icloud) as primary ond only ONE?

    Good afternoon friends.
Please help me and tell how can I stop using my primary Apple ID (Gmail) but leave my secondary Apple ID (icloud) as primary ond only ONE?
I started using Apple ID in 2011 when iCloud was not exist and was forced to use non-apple e-mail adress as primary ID.
    So I used GMail mailbox.
When iCloud was started I created my account but unfortunatelly can't remove this Gmail address from my Apple ID and replace it with icloud mail address.
I was VERY dissapointed because I don't want to use "outside" mailbox to get letters from Apple and ny ID.
In fact I see the Apple old users and fans discrimination.
When creating new user accounts are free to create a box on the iCloud mail and use it as a primary ID, and the only ONE.
At the same time the old user is obliged to keep third-party mail box like Gmail etc. as the primary and can not get such an opportunity, as a new user
This is extremely inconvenient and a VERY strange logical.
For example, now I want to stop using this mailbox on Gmail but I can not do that because in this case I lose access to my ID, or run the risk that someone in the future will create a box with the same name on Gmail (when name will be free and available) and will automatically get access to my accounts on Apple and to my Apple ID.
Now, to avoid this, your team, I offer the only way out: ID, create anew.
Of course it's possible, but then:
    - I lose all my purchases for 3 years and will be forced to make them again and pay money for the second time for my purchases
    - Lose access to the familiar iCloud e-mail address who now serves as secondary ID because this e-mail address is almost no longer available and will never be released in future.
And now answer me for ONLY TWO questions:
    - WHERE IS LOGIC?
    - WHAT ABOUT TO BE FRIENDLY FOR YOUR USERS AND FANS?
    Thank you!
    Hopefully for your GOOD answers.

You cannot make your @icloud.com address the login address for the ID. However you can change your ID, currently a Gmail one, to any other functioning non-Apple email address. The Gmail address would then no longer access your account, and so even if someone were to obtain posession of it (is that even possible) it wouldn't allow them to get into your account.
If you want to change your ID to another email address please follow the procedure outlined below, particularly noting the first step.
Firstly, if you have 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' enabled on any of your devices, turn it off.
Create a new email address, for example  at Yahoo or Gmail, or anywhere convenient (or you can use an existing address as long as it has never been associated with an Apple ID).
Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID.
Where it says 'Apple ID and primary email address' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'.
Enter your new address and click 'Save changes'.
Now you will need to go to each of your devices and sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud - 'Sign out' on a Mac, 'Delete this account' on an iOS device (this will not delete the account from the server).
Then sign back in with your new ID. Your iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in.
I re-iterate: before you start, turn off 'Find My Mac' (or whatever) or you will need the services of Support.

How can I stop the sharing on the iPhones that are on my account because its sharing everything even text messages and its driving everybody crazy

An icloud account is designed to be used by one user to keep his/her devices in sync.
If you have muitiple family members or friends using the same account as yours, then have them get their own Apple IDs and icloud accounts.
If you mean you want to stop the sharing between all your devices, then on any one device, go to Settings>icloud and turn off the services you don't want that device to share/sync.  Or turn off icloud altogether if that's what you want.

It sounds like if you open Preferences in Word there will be a place where you can specify where to store autorecover files. Right now it sounds like it's pointing to somewhere that doesn't exist.
