How can i stop the shortcuts to my external hdd from bein removed from the sidebar in finder
Hi,
I have a 2TB Samsung story station where i download all my movies and tv shows. (got about 200 GB left hahaha)
On the drive there are some folders for the movies, tv shows, music and other content.
In the Finder I drag 'n dropped the folders to the navigation bar (right under downloads, applications and desktop).
But since it's a laptop, i have to take it somewhere and dismount the drive, now the shortcuts are gone. When I mount it again, the shortcuts are still gone.
I thought I could create a shortcut to the folders and put those in my user folder, and drag those to the navigation bar, because they are still on my laptop so I figured they wouldn't be removed. Wrong. This is really starting to **** me off since there are about 5 folders on the drive I want in the navigation bar and since you can't drag 'n drop multiple folders at once into the bar, everytime i reconnect my drive i have to drag them back in there. Is there a way around this?

Right the shortcuts, Apple Speak Alias, can't be in the Sidebar with the drive disconnected.
If you placed a Alias to an folder on your internal drive on the Sidebar then Deleted that folder the Link/Alias/Shortcut would also be taken off the Sidebar as that folder no longer exists.

1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

Is there a solution to choose a folder on my external hdd to do the auto-backups? I just can choose the volume to backup but not a folder on it. Where does the system strore all the data? just chaotic on my hdd in the root directory?
thank youYes. Time Machine is an archival backup utility meaning it stores copies of changed or deleted files in case the user needs to retrieve older versions of files. As such Time Machine continues to add hourly to the backup drive. Over time the drive will fill up until it is no longer usable by Time Machine due to lack of space. Having a large backup drive prolongs the inevitable.
If you find this is not something you require for your backup strategy, the use a different backup utility that simply overwrites old files with new ones. Such a backup utility only requires a backup drive equal to the size of the drive being backed up.

On CS5, how can you recover JPEG images that were accidentally Batch Renamed prior to removal from a flash card? Is it a total lose or can they be saved somehow?
If they were renamed on the flash card that is a poor practice. If renamed in Bridge the old names can be recovered it you have checked "preserve original name in XMP". If not you are out of luck. But you still have the images correct?

i cannot get my "frontier" email account set up on my ipad so that i cannot either or receive email. Frontier says that the "automatic" verifying tool puts the wrong ports in and that is why i cannot get or send emails from the ipad. We know we have the correct name and password in but when in comes to verifying, an error message comes up and says "the wrong user name or password has been entered".
How do i disable the automatic set up of email so i can be assured the correct ports are enabled?-Tap "Settings" app,
-Select "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" option on the left hand side,
-On the right, under "Accounts" on top, tap "Add Account...",
-Select one of the email service providers or "Other",
-Under "Mail", tap "Add Mail Account",
-A window pops up and enter your new email account details.
-Repeat for new email accounts. -
Every time I log in to my e-mail I see 30 to 50 "mail delivery" errors. This is very frustrating to each time having to delete those items. I have blocked and clicked on spam, but there is no change.
For goodness sake, it is most likely [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backscatter_%28email%29 backscatter], changing your mail password probably will not help but is a prudent thing to do, but it is actually quite unlikely that anyone is trying to use your mail account.
There is basically nothing that can be done about backscatter, as the article I linked to advises. -
When holding down the 'command' key for a few seconds, the Universal Access panel appears. How can I stop this?
It is a panel that pops up and the heading on the panel is 'Universal Access', it is actually just an image of a panel, you can't access it. I have checked keyboard shortcuts and none of them are assigned to the command key only

How can I stop Buffering on my Ipad2?
My Ipad buffers very often when watching a video...how can I stop this?
Buffering occurs when you are watching faster than the video can download. So you need to make sure that you have a good connection, either wifi or 3G. Wifi is faster. As karebu said, turn off "HD" or "High Quality" to minimise the data you are trying to download.
If I think that buffering is going to be a problem, I run the video for a few seconds and then pause it. This often starts it downloading and I then leave it for a bit to download before I watch it. This gives it more chances to keep ahead of me. -

An icloud account is designed to be used by one user to keep his/her devices in sync.
If you have muitiple family members or friends using the same account as yours, then have them get their own Apple IDs and icloud accounts.
If you mean you want to stop the sharing between all your devices, then on any one device, go to Settings>icloud and turn off the services you don't want that device to share/sync. Or turn off icloud altogether if that's what you want. -

It sounds like if you open Preferences in Word there will be a place where you can specify where to store autorecover files. Right now it sounds like it's pointing to somewhere that doesn't exist.
