How can I stop URL from loading when I paste it into a page without selecting a text field first?

I'm using a chat where I often copy links; if I forget to click the text field when copying an URL, it opens, forcing me to go back manually, which is really annoying. Can I disable URL autoopening somehow?

I do not see why this should happen because of Firefox. Maybe you have some sort of adware on your system.

Try Firefoxin safe mode to rule out your standard extensions. if that does not solve the problem then scan for malware with multiple and up-to-date tools.

How can I stop Firefox from loading automatically when I startup my computer?

A while ago I setup Windows so Outlook and Firefox opened automatically when I log on. Now I want to stop FF from opening automatically. I have gone into the Startup folder and removed the shortcut to FF several times but it keeps coming back. I changed the name of Mozilla Firefox in the Windows Programs Directory to xxMozilla Firefox and that didn't keep it from loading. If necessary, I will remove FF from my computer altogether but I would rather not do that.

Aaarg! I tried Matt's suggestion of using msconfig, restarted my computer, and it seemed to solve the problem. Today when I turned on the computer it hung up before loading Windows. I had to use the F12 button to get it to load. I did and it did and Firefox did not load.
Now, this evening, I turned on the computer, the startup procedure was normal, and there's Firefox fired up and ready to go!

On my MBP I have some head phones that have an inline mic with call answer button. The button on the head phones is fairly sensitive and I tend to bump it on accident often. When I hit the button iTunes is launched or if I have it open it starts music.

I love my Soundlink and I love my Mac but together the devices are causing no end of aggravation with no fix in sight. With each OS update I hope the problem is addressed but to no avail, it is getting tiresome that such a flaw isn't being fixed in a timely manner.

This has only become a problem recently. Whenever I disconnect -- not connect, disconnect -- my Bluetooth Bose SoundLink Mini speaker from my MacBook Pro iTunes will auto-launch. I'm sure I've done it before but I've just reinstalled itunes and it starts evey time I turn on the computer. I have searched all the menus and haven't found an option to turn this off.

Go to Start>All Programs and look in Startup. iF iTunes appears there, remove it.
If iTunes is not in startup, do you have any iTunes widgets? If you don't know what they are you probably don't have any.
Some iTunes Widgets can be configured to start when you start your computer and that could cause iTunes to appear.

But, on a Mac, clicking the red button top left in the window, normally closes the window and not the app. Closing the app instead of the window by clicking this button only happens with rather small software-tools.

How can I stop FCPX from loading every project on a drive?

Every time I connect an external hard drive with FCP projects and events on them, Final Cut reads and loads every project which significantly slows down the program and my MacBook. Are there any settings or plugins/scripts that would give you the option of loading only a specific project and it's events and ignoring the others on the drive?

Move them out of the Events and/or Projects folder!
