It differs depending on the site you are trying to use. If they are using Flash you will need to use Skyfire, Puffin, Photon or one of those alternate browsers and you will need to check with the developer of the app to see if it will work with the site you are trying to use.

I don't know what AppleTV can handle as far as bit rate is concerned, but increase the bit rate as high as it will let you. You are taking DV which is 25Mb/s and compressing it. If you're making an H.264, you should get great results needing no more than 6Mb/s. Bear in mind, the higher the bit rate, the larger the file size.

The closest that you can come to making a call with an iPad would be to use an app like Skype. You can't make a "normal" call on the iPad since it is not a phone.

TS1398 How to connect to wireless with iPad Mini running iOS 6.x.x.

Recently purchased iPad Mini which iOS 6.0.1 installed. It would not connect to the Internet over wifi at my home. I run two wifi networks in the house. One uses a Linksys WRT120G router (SSID:wremlc) and one using a combo DSL Modem/Router from CenturyLink (SSID:centurylink). iPad would not connect to either network. (As an aside my iPhone 4s amd my wife's iPhone 4 have been connected to the Linksys network (prior to upgrade to iOS 6.0.1. They still connect to the wremlc network but will not connect to the centurtlink network.) The Linksys router has been updated to the latest firmware and it is running WPA/WPA-2 security with AES/TKIP encryption and automatic channelling. After tinkering with the settings in the CenturyLink router and changing from automatic channling to Channel 6, I was able to the iPad mini but neither iPhone. I am afraid to change it on the wremlc network for fear that my iPhone will no longer connect. Took iPad back to Verizon Store and could not connect to any of their secure wifi networks. I am able to connect to public unsecure wifi networks in places like McDonalds, Panera and Starbucks. I am also able to connect to some private secure wifi networks at some of my firend's homes but not all. When I try, for example, at my in-laws house (they use a Linsys WRT120N router), it tries to join and I get a mesaage that says "Unable to join network "chandler". Same for my iPhones and my daughters iPad. I thought iOS 6.0.2 had fixed the wifi problems but clearly they have not. Don't think its a Linksys problem as my iPhones connect just fine but that could because its a remembered network that was originally connected before iOS 6.0 came out. Sorry for the epistle but any help would be appreciated.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Can I create network with iPad & mini?

I now have 2006 Mini 1.5 GHz Intel Core Solo upgraded to 2 GB sdram running on ATT DSL ethernet connection. My Sys Profile indicates my Airport wifi is 802.11a/b/g.
I would like to upgrade to ATT wireless modem and have this mini AND a new wifi iPad model on a wireless network in my home. First of all does this make sense?
Secondly, my concerns are security and speed.
I have read 802.11n is what's needed to enjoy the features of the iPad, but the network will be limited to the speed of the slowest device - the mini I presume? Also the security of the 802.11n appears to be more robust? Is this true? If so, can mini be upgraded to 802.11n.
Also my house has the old 4-wire phone wiring (red-green-yellow-black). I have heard about Cat5, Cat6 wiring. Will the old wiring limit the speed of the ATT modem so as to make this network impractical.
Any insight and tips on this would be greatly appreciated!! Addie

First, be sure the ATT wireless modem allows more than one device to connect at a time. A modem is not normally meant to act as a router and share the connection, although some modems with a WAP (wireless access point) built in can do so. Also check what they charge for the modem with wireless, as it may be cheaper to just get your own wireless router to plug into the existing modem.
As for security, 802.11g devices aren't going to be any less secure than 892.11n devices really, so long as you can use WPA. Both the mini and the iPad should support WPA fine. In a broader sense, nothing wireless is perfectly secure, since anyone that is near enough to receive signal can capture the data transmitted. It may take a lot to compromise the security of that data and the network at this point, but no form of security is eternally infallible.
When it comes to speed, your biggest constraint is going to be your connection to your ISP (internet service provider), in this case ATT DSL. Unless you are getting a fiber service, you probably aren't even close to the 54mbps speeds 802.11g can offer. The only improvement in data transfer you'll see by having 802.11n is between devices on your network. This means that your mini and your iPad can transfer things between each other faster, but neither can get data from the internet any faster than your ISP delivers.
It is not really that simple to upgrade the mini to 802.11n, and as noted may not really be worth it as it will likely not offer any gain in what you are doing.
Your house wiring to the telephone network only uses 2-4 conductors, so Cat5 or Cat6 wiring really won't make any real difference. Those are 8 conductor network cables, meant for wired networking.
An option you don't seem to have considered is instead of getting a wireless capable modem or router, you could simply share the internet connection from your mini via the Airport inside it. Since you are apparently wired from the modem to your mini, you can simply then use the mini's built in wifi to act as your WAP for the iPad.
