How can I sync adress books of two macs without using mobile me?

I have Mac mini and PowerBook, both with Leopard (10.6.8) and with separately builded adress books. Now I would like to unify both adress books.
Is there any opportunity to do that automatically?
Or have I to export every contact individually as v-card and afterwords import that v-cards individually?

I assume that this is a POP system then.
There is no reliable method of syncing the Mail database between 2 Macs. Just how many Gigabytes of Mail do you have?

  • How can I sync important folders between two Macs?

I've had a Macbook Pro for about a year and a half and love it so much that this Christmas I decided to buy myself a second Mac. I got a refurbished 24 inch iMac and just set it up last night. During the setup it occurred to me that there are certain folders on both computers (documents, pictures, audio, downloads, etc) that I would like to have available and synchronized between both computers. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like to do this. Does this functionality exist in Snow Leopard? If not, are there any 3rd party apps that will solve my problem?
    Thank you for reading.

no. not unless you want to use a command line tool like rsync.

you can use Chronosync or ForkLift. also, you can sync not directly between computers but via a cloud. there are many services that do that. there is apple's own mobileme. another very popular one is DropBox.

There are several third-party solutions. When I was without .Mac I used Address-O-Sync. You can find others on versiontracker.

    Hello,
The Desktop Manager is mainly a tool for backup and configuration. Most people who use a Blackberry buy it to complement tools they use daily, such as an address book, a mail software, a calendar system. That's why most people will rely on desktop solutions like Outlook, Lotus, webmails (GMail, Hotmail) or webcalendars (Google Calendar).
You are asking for something like that, but from Blackberry. There is not. Or there is. You can grab for a 99$ tool that allows you to use your Blackberry on your PC :
    http://www.berryreview.com/2008/02/20/bayalink-liberty-key-use-your-blackberry-from-your-computer/
But that will not really be what you need. The Blackberr y is all about synchronization between a desktop solution and your handheld device.

Why do you need to sync your iPhone with iTunes - for what purpose?
You can transfer iTunes content and photos from one computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first with a warning message provided beforehand indicating this will occur.

I downloaded and paid for an app on my ipad, how can I get it free on my iphone without using itunes as my laytop is broken. I cannot seem to find the purchase tab in app store? I am logged in using the same ID

First, the app must be universal...designed for both iPhone/iPad:
    Tap App Store.
Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
    Tap Updates.
Tap Purchased on the resulting screen.
Locate the app in your Purchased tab.
    Tap the download icon.
The app will begin downloading and you'll be taken back to your home screen.

If your computer is tied to a network, then there is a way to check. Go to System Preferences, and click Accounts. unlock Admin
then you can click Login Options.
under that, Network Account Server. This should show you what server your computer is tied to. If you aren't in the tech department, you could try asking them.
