Running FF32 on both devices. Properly logged on to both. Would like to know how to get bookmarks from device running on XT to newer one running Win 7. Carefully read instructions and looked at solutions to similar problems. Nothing has worked. Thanks for the help.

You cannot. The music must be in the iTunes library first. See these User Tips:

Ok.
Open System Preferences, Apple Logo icon in the menu bar and then System Preferences or the Sys Pref iocon in the Dock and go to the Internet Accounts area and look at your iCloud account. It should list what is and isn't synced by a checkmark next to each item.
Also in the Contacts app click on Contacts in the menu bar and select Preferences then accounts and make sure your iCloud account is listed. You can also do that from the Internet Accounts area in System Preferences.

i specifically wanted to sync my outlook calendar with my phone, not my outlook calendar with icloud calendar.
apparently you have to go into setup on phone and tell phone not to sync calendars with icloud so you can get choice to sync phone via itunes.

i have tried signing out of imessage and signing back in. (when i do that and am asked to select my email adress, i see my new number but it is greyed out and i cant select it)

Unfortunately, the iPhone is not designed to sync with Palm software. As stated in the minimum system requirements, the iPhone can sync with Outlook (2003, 2007 or Express) on a PC, or with iCal and Entourage on a Mac. If you do not want to use Outlook on the PC, you can sign up for a free Yahoo account and sync with Yahoo Address Book. Yahoo Address Book can be used to sync from PC or Mac. Found the answer from another discussion here and it did work in about 2 minutes:
in settings, click mail, contacts , calendars
you need to add two accounts:
one for mail as a Yahoo account
another per the instructions below
Yahoo syncs contacts by adding a CardDAV account:
Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Tap Add Account
Tap Other and then tap Add CardDAV Account
For the Server you need to enter carddav.address.yahoo.com
Now type in the Yahoo! ID (full email address) and password you use to sign in to your Yahoo! Contacts
why not all in one? who knows!
Ps. You might have to do several tries with and without the .xxx extesion to the account name

After replacing the OS on my laptop, how can I sync my bookmarks back to that laptop using my existing sync account? There doesn't seem to be a path to doing this based upon the instructions I've seen.

I've done a clean install of Windows 7 to my laptop and so have of course lost my previous Firefox installation. I do have a sync account and have sync'd my bookmarks to my Android phone. I can't find an option in Firefox to sync bookmarks back to the computer from which the sync account originated. There is of course no sync account set up in the newly installed browser, and my only practical option is to create a new account. I am afraid to enter my current account information here, because I don't want to take the chance of having Sync overwrite my stored records with the pristine state of my newly installed browser. When I click the link for existing accounts, I'm directed to the "Add a Device" screen, but this screen presumes I'm sync'ing to a device other than the one I currently working on. The problem isn't so much that I dont have the facility to rate the files... I can rate tracks from my library using Media Monkey.
The issue is more that I have a couple of thousand unrated tracks - most of them are new songs that i've never listened to before (I work in a music store!). I want to be able to listen to them and rate them when I go for a run, and then have the ratings transferred onto the computer library.

My old desktop (guest account) on my computer was deleted. It had my original itunes on it. I made a new guest account on my computer. Obviously, there was no music, no app's, no anything on this particular account.
I did sync the "purchased" app's onto the new itunes successfully, but I want to know if my notes that I type in the ipad2, also photos i saved and bookmarks (on my home screen and safari), including my reading lists (safari), are safe. Another thing is, how can i transfer my music to the new itunes? how can I get my old music library from the ipad2 onto the new itunes? They were c.d.'s i bured to itunes a while back from my own collection. I did not purchase them online from itunes' site.
