How can I Sync my iPhone before restoring?
I tried to use something called DrFone to restore my calendar, which I had accidentally deleted on my iPhone 4. Didn't see the fine print that said the trial version didn't support back up. Now my phone is totally frozen. When I turn it on, the screen is black and tells me to connect to iTunes. When I do that, it tells me to restore - but then tells me I will lose all my data unless I sync it. When I try to sync it, I don't have the option. My summary screen only shows a grayed-out button for Software Update and a pushable button for Restore - nowhere does it have back up, sync, etc. It was bad enough losing the calendar, now I can't access my phone. I don't want to restore without figuring out how to get the info off of it first - photos, contacts, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
You don't have a choice at this point. Any data that was on the phone is most likely already gone.

If you restored as new, without using a backup, and still only get an option to restore, there is a hardware problem or the phone was previously hacked (jailbroken, downgraded iOS, unauthorized unlock). Your only option is to take it to Apple or whoever provides iPhone service in your country.

Hello again and sorry to bother you. I was hoping you could help me with iTunes 10.5. This update has been a pain. When I first installed it, my entire library was gone. Luckily, I saved the "iTunes Library" file before updating and copied it in place and my library appeared. But now the problem I'm having is that the iTunes can't find any of the "original" files, even though my iTunes Media file location has not changed (it's on an external network drive". When I click on the "Do you want to find the original file" I can find it in the appropriate folder. I checked the "Preferences" and under "Advanced" I re-mapped it to the appropriate location and already had the 2 boxes for iTunes organizing files checked. Then went to "File" and "Organize Library" and clicked the first check box and then got the "Copying Files" bar. When this was completed, I thought it would be able to find the original files. But I'm still getting the same error message about not being able to find the "original" files. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks again for your help.

Basically, my iphone has been in the same apple ID as my dads iphone and mac book, so my iphone has always been synced to his macbook. I bought myself a mac book the other day and want to sync my iphone to it. However i have obviously put my mac book in a different apple id as i know pay for things i download myself, how can I sync my iphone to my mac book without losing all the music and pictures on it? ive now put my iphone into my new apple id thinking this might help? ive also tried clicking 'manually manage music and video' but this doesnt seem to work, it basically says you have to erase your iphone to sync to a new itunes!

You cannot. Copy everything you want form the old computer to the new one, then sync it.

Correct Iphone will sync, or manually manage, with one and only one computer/library at a time. Syncing, or manually managing, to another will indeed erase the current content. -

You don't. The iOS photo sync is one-way: Computer to phone. You can only use iPhoto to import pics in your camera roll.
