How can I sync my iPod with a Windows 8 PC?

I just got a new Windows 8 PC and want to sync 2 differnt iPod Touch 4G.  When I choose to sync the Music, I get a message about erasing everything and will sync with what's on my PC.  However, the only music showing up in iTunes are some recent purchases.  All the previous purchases and songs copied from CDs are not there.  But, I can look on the hard drive, and the songs are all there.  Some are MP3s and others are MPEG-4's.
I have backed up one iPod and hten restored from that back-up, then tried to Sync, but I continue to get the message about erasing the iPod.  And iTunes is still only showing the recent purchases.  I have tried transfering the MPEG-4 songs to iTunes, but it won't let me!
Another problem is that I have an iTunes account and my son has one.  How can I sync and have hte iPod pull the content from the correct account?  I don't see how I can sign in to iTunes and have a choice of which account to use.
Thanks.

There is no Info tab in Mavericks

You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year.  It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you.  Items that it does not find in the catalog it'll upload and store these in the cloud for you and you can download them on your devices.  See http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/

If you connect your ipod to your computer then look in the hidden folder labeled "iPod_Control" . (This is on a Mac version, but i think it's the same for Windows) and in "Music" is all your music mixed up in different folders. Just drag the MUSIC folder onto itunes then BAM! It's done ;D

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in iTunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Make a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer.  Right click on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up.
    - Restore the iPod from backup

No, it's impossible as your iTunes Library containing your new music is on your computer, which you don't have access to.

  • Help! How can i sync my ipod with a new computer?

how do i sync my ipod touch with a new computer?  the old computer it was synced with is completely broken.  I don't want to loose any songs, especially the ones I didn't buy on itunes.

For music obtained from other than the iTunes Music Store, you need to browse the app store and purchase an app intended for that very purpose.  I'm unable to recommend one because I've never had reason to use such an app.  DO THIS FIRST!
For songs purchased from iTunes, simply do a sync to the new computer.  A box will appear asking if you wish to transfer purchases.  If, for whatever reason, that fails, this is "Plan B."

  • How can I sync my iPod with another iPod as I use the same iTunes account?

I currently have an iPod Nano and want to go for an iPod Touch soon. My iPod Nano has a lot of iTunes music that I’d rather not have to pay for a second time. How can I get that music on to my new iPod without having to pay for it again?

The best approach would be to register your new iPod to your current iTunes account then sync to the matching library much like your old one. You can learn more about BACKING UP and managing content simply by downloading and reading on your user guide.

  • How can I sync my ipod with my itunes on my laptop?

I have a 60 gig iPod classic and nothing happens when I click on the sync button in iTiunes. The device is recognized in the "Summary" page but I cannot sync with my laptop. I am using Windows 7 and iTuunes 10.6.1.7.
    Thanks

Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
Connect the iPod to your computer; the screen on the iPod will should say "Do not disconnect".
Then you can use the iPod as an external portable hardisk.
As for your 16Gb Other, it is most likely some data from a failed Sync Operation, if you cant find some folder in WinExplorer from your previous backup.
