How can i sync ringtones off my ipnone 4 onto itunes?

i am helping my friends sync his iphone 4 to a new computer (orig one crashed) but we cannot find a way to sync or backup his ringtones off his iphone onto the new laptop. It keeps wanting to erase them since they are not on his new laptop. any help.

The Sync process is one way... From iTunes to iPhone...
If the Old computer has died and your friend has failed to keep a Backup of their Old computer... Then there is not much that can be done...

i specifically wanted to sync my outlook calendar with my phone, not my outlook calendar with icloud calendar.
apparently you have to go into setup on phone and tell phone not to sync calendars with icloud so you can get choice to sync phone via itunes.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.

You can transfer items on your iPhone to iPhoto, iTunes, etc. the software merely transfer the data, it does not store it. Very handy software to have around.

I find it very odd apple are treating there own customers in this way making me upgrade to interface with their own products!! Expanding on what The Fiend said, the license to play music from a CD is tied to and stays with the CD. So if you sell or give away the CDs, the license to play the music goes with them, at which point you legally no longer have the right to the tracks. You need to keep the CDs if you want to keep the music.
As for transferring the tracks from your iPhone back to your computer so you don't have to re-import all your CDs, check out this post from Zevoneer for some iPod/iPhone media recovery options:

How can I sync IPod, with lots of music, to ITunes empty library?

I lost my entire ITunes library when I had to format the hard drive. Now I want to sync all the info in my iPod into this new library. I wory that the sync may go the other way and empty my IPod. When I connect the IPod to the computer it tells me that it is synced with a different library. (This must be the one that was deleted when I formatted the disk).
Please help

1). Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. 4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive
