How can I synchronize my Ipad remotely to recover some ibooks?

Anybody a good idea on how to connect to my books while travelling.
I need some additional books which I did not synchronize.

If they are purchased books - just download them again in the purchased tab of iBooks Store. As long as you use the same Apple there will be no charge.
If the books are not purchased from iBooks, there is no way to get them remotely unless you have some sort of application on the Mac and the iPad that will allows you to remotely connect to each device - and I'm still not sure how you would get them from iTunes anyway.

I do that by using iCloud to house all my contacts. Then simply use the same Apple ID on the iPad and iPhone, and turn on iCloud on both.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.

Ive been reading the forums all over the place to find the solution to my ipad 1 continually crashing. it does it mainly in safari and the app store.
Its really annoying when you're halfway through composing a long e-mail message and it just reverts back to the home screen.
I'm perfectly happy to give up the advantages of IOs 5, because I would rather have a stable machine (like it used to be) than use the cloud and multitasking. (I don't use them anyway). I know that some of my apps might stop working but its more important to me that the basics work.

You cannot downgrade the iOS. Once you upgrade, you're stuck with it.
Part of your problem is that your iPad is old and it probably having difficulty keeping up with the data and protocols for the newer software. It's probably time to send a note to Santa.

I have tried resetting and erasing all settings and data on the one I still have, but when I go to restore by iCloud; it only gives me the choice of restoring the same iPad. Then in iCloud>storage>backup, I'm still not able to choose which backup to backup to. I've even tried deleting the backup to the iPad I still have, then resetting all setting and data on the iPad, hoping that in resetting up the iPad it would give me the option to backup to my old iPad. But it doesn't. It still has memory of the backup of my newer iPad.

1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPad but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPad with it.

Use a neighbors or something. You can use any computer to update and restore it. Once it's to the startup screen your good to go. Yes the apple store can help you too.
