How can I take 3 devices off of my email account and give them their own account. We are sharing storage and need to each have our own account.

Everyone in my family has an iPhone or iPad and they are all on one email account. How do I take them off and give them their own accounts so I can have my storage back?

Have them delete the iCloud account (your email address) on their devices then let them create their own iCloud account -> http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4436.  If all of you are syncing contacts and calendars on the same iCloud account, they have to re-organise those stuffs once they have their own iCloud account.  When you delete an iCloud account, it normally asks what would you do for the synced information - keep it on the iOS device or delete.  If they choose to keep the synced information (e.g. Contacts and Calendars), they have to delete those thare aren't theirs or they can start from scratch by deleting the synced information from the iOS device.  Hope this helps.  Cheers!

You can share the same Apple ID in
Settings > iTunes & App Store > Apple ID: here
But for all other Apple services like:
FaceTime, iMessage, iCloud, etc, one of you should use a different Apple ID.

  • How can I take lion off of my MacBook Pro and go back to using Snow Leopard

How can I take lion off of my MacBook Pro because it has too much problems with the new operating system, I have talked to Apple support for both computers and still nothing happens I think they know that there's something wrong and they don't know how to fix it are there working on fixing it. So how can I put snow leopard Mac on my computer so that it works every time, there's a lot of good features in Lion but there's a lot of bad features and especially when it comes to turning on your computer and the memory that it has held so if one item is missing then it doesn't work and you have to reboot the computer to get it to work but I still like my Mac.

Hi Beth, welcome to the discussions!
Might be a good idea to also post over in the iPhoto forum if you haven't tried this yet as this is a common topic on their boards.
You may be able to get your iPhoto library back by rebuilding it. I've done it, but's it's been a long time, so don't want to mislead you on anything. The guys over in the iPhoto forum are real experts and should have some fixes for you.

    Hi _em24,
It sounds like you are having an issue with the upgrade to your iPhone’s version of iOS, a frustrating situation to be sure. Let’s see if we can get you back up and running.
For basic troubleshooting of upgrades, and assuming you are using iTunes to do it, I would suggest using the steps in this article -
Resolve iOS update and restore errors in iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275
If not using iTunes or the above do not produce the desired result, use the steps in this article -

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • How can I take my iphone 5 out of recovery mode if I do not want to restore my phone and the power button is broken?

How can I take my Iphone 5 out of recovery mode if I do not want to restore my phone and my power button is broken?

Unfortunately, you will have to restore your iPhone...
    From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 :
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup.

  • My husband and i share a macbook. we each have our own log-in and we each have our own itunes account. how can we share our libraries?

My husband and I share a macbook. We each have our own log-in and we each have our own itunes account. How can we use home sharing?

First, you need to understand that there's a difference between "syncing" and "backup".  Backup is the saving of content and settings, where syncing is the bidirectional transfer of content for an account to a web-based server (like iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.)
If you see your calendar in your iCloud account, that implies that you have set up your iCloud account to host (sync) your calendar, and perhaps contacts, email, and notes.  An iCloud account can only sync one user's information at a time so it is intended to support a single user.  You can have more than one iCloud account, and you can even have more than one iCloud account on the same device (but one has to be primary, and the secondary iCloud has limited capabilities), but a single iCloud account only supports a single user's content.
Backup is the saving of your device's content and settings to use in case you need to recover these things, but you can't see the contents of your backup (just the size and device name).  You can backup more than one device to iCloud and you can backup to iCloud or you can backup to your computer, or both (one at a time though, you have to choose).
So, if your wife has her own email and calendar she can certainly do that in parallel to whatever account(s) you have for email and calendar.  But if you have only one iCloud account then only one of you can use it for email, calendar, etc.  But the backup of these accounts is really just a backup of the device's settings that link the device to these accounts. For example, if she uses Gmail then the backup of the iPad only backs up the fact that your iPad is set up to use her account, it does not backup the account itself (the content of her account is saved and preserved on Google's servers, not your device's backup).
    Does that make better sense?

  • I have multiple devices (imacs, lap tops and ipads) all connected to a NAS server.  Can I create a user for myself and one for my wife, and each have our own apple ID, and Itunes accounts, but all share the same media on NAS drives?

I have multiple devices (iMacs, Lap tops, Ipads) all connected to a Nas Drive.  Can I create a user for myself and one for my wife and we each have our own apple ID's, Itunes etc, but share the same data on the hard drives?  So when she logs in, and sync's her ipads, they will sync with her stuff and when I do the same under my user account, on the same device, my ipads will sync with my stuff?

You can share the same Apple ID for purchasng form the iTunes and app stores without any problems, but you should all used separate iCloud accounts with separate Apple IDs.  (You are not required to use the same ID for iCloud and other services as you do for the iTunes store.)  This will prevent you from ending up with merged data.  You should also use separate Apple IDs for iMessage and FaceTime or you will end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.

With the new iCloud, I keep seeing people wondering how they are going to be able to keep sharing purchases among their family members using one Apple ID since the way iCloud works encourages you to have your own.
The problem is, people think to share purchases among their family members they have to use a single Apple ID.That is not true at all.
If you set up Home Sharing in iTunes, you can share purchases among family member computers and devices that are using different Apple IDs. Many people don't understand that although Home Sharing requires you to use a single Apple ID to connect everyone, all of your family members can continue to use their OWN Apple IDs in iTunes and in their iDevices. The Home Sharing account just links up multiple different Apple IDs for you.
Edited to Clarify: Home Sharing among family members with different Apple IDs is NOT limited to just music. You can share purchased apps, books, tv shows, movies, etc. too. Basically anything in your iTunes library. And that includes sharing iOS apps.

It would seem as though it does work with different IDs.

  • HT2204 My husband and I have the same apple id. We would like to each have our own. He will keep the original one, but how do I get a new apple Id and keep all the things I have associated with the old apple id?

My husband and I use the same apple Id. We would like to each have our own apple id, but we do not want to lose all our information associated with the current id. One of us will keep the original. If one us creates a new apple id how will that affect the iPhone and iTunes?

That would be my suggestion.  Just keep using the common one for purchases in the stores.  Then each get another AppleID using a free gmail, AOL, hotmail, MS Live or whatever email account.
Delete your current iCloud account and login with the new AppleID, and logout of Messaging and then backin with the new AppleID.  Now you have a shared iTunes/App store account, but completely separate, independent iCloud and iMessage accounts.
You can still share calendars if you wish to, even across separate accounts - http://support.apple.com/kb/ph2690

You can each have your own ID for your own iTunes accounts, but in order for a device to stream via AirPlay to the same Apple TV, everything must use the same homesharing ID. This is not the same as your iTunes account ID (although it can be for one of the devices)

  • HT5622 My whole family shares an Apple ID so that we can share apps, games, calendars, etc..  Is this the best way to do that?  Can we each have our own cloud if we share an Apple ID?

No. There is no way to transfer purchases between IDs
