How Can I take this image and put it in another image? Basically Background but different

So, I got photoshop today for a project I have to do and have never used it in my life. I am making a childrens book for school and I am trying to pug the corner pug in this photo onto the couch of the next photo. I am going to use the various expressions of the pug in different settings but I want just the pug I choose to be there withouth the other ones or the white background. Im aware that its watermarked, Im just going to ignore that unless someone has specific instructions on how I can get that off aswell. How do I do this? Please be specific, thanks!

Open the picture of the pugs. On the Toolbar click the icon for the Lasso tools. In my PSE version this is row 2, column 1 of the Toobar; it might be in a different location in your version. On the tools option bar you will see icons for the different types of lassos. Select the Magnetic Lasso. Click on the pug you want and slowly trace his outline. At the end click again to complete the selection. The pug will be outlined in "marching ants".
Copy this selection to the clipboard: Edit > Copy.
Now open the picture of the sofa. Paste the pug from the clipboard: Edit > Paste. The pug will be placed on a new layer in the Layers Palette.
You will probably want to resize him. To do that, activate the Move tool (row 1, column 2 on my Toolbar). Eight handles will appear around the pug. Holding down Shift, drag any corner handle to resize (Shift preserves the proportions). Also use the Move tool to position the pug where you want him using the mouse. You can also use the arrow keys to fine-tune the position.

If when you selected the pug you selected some excess white outside his outline you can remove this with the Eraser tool (row 7, column 1). Similiarly if you had not selected all of the pug you can use the Brush to paint in the rest. You can also use the Eraser for example to flatten the bottom of the pug as I have partially done.

That happened to my brother earlier. He went into Facebooand then into another app and the same thing happened. he ended up having to restore it. Mine stayed with the Apple logo for a bit but its back to normal after pressing the buttons a million times. I hope you get your problem sorted. Goodluck!

You can't merge Apple IDs. What you could do is set up your phone to use the same iCloud accout you are using on your Mac. To do this, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all synced data (Contacts, Calendars, etc.) to Off. When prompted, choose to keep the data on the phone. When everything is off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. Now add the iCloud account you set up on your Mac (with the same Apple ID) and turn syncing back on for Calendars, Contacts, etc. When prompted, you will probably want to choose merge, to merge the data on your phone with the existing data on this iCloud account.

Trial and error, putting both the reference image and your new experimental image up side by side, is the only way I know. I'd probably use the Info panel as well, to see that I'm getting the same or very similar color numbers from the new drop shadow.
You can probably use the Magic Wand set to a very low tolerance value to select and copy the light colored object, then make a new document with a white background, paste in the copied object, then start experimenting with drop shadow. Alternatively you could just redraw a portion of it.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.

You can't reformat it and not wipe everything on it.
Have you tried a different USB port?
Only other option, back it up on a different computer.

In Yosemite, I can;t operate for more than a few minutes with Keychain or Safari asking for my login password. How can I turn this off, and still be safe?

Using Yosemite, I an't seem to work for more than a few minutes without being asked for my login password. Keychain wants it, Safari wants it, iCloud wants it..the list goes on. Then in 10 minutes or so, they all want it again. Passwords are being stored by Safari as usual, but new tabs or pages bring up the request. How can I turn this off and still have protection?

Tutorial: Resolving Keychain Issues
If you can't access your keychain, or forget your password If you can't get into your keychain file because you've forgotten your password or the keychain file appears to be corrupt, there are a couple of options.
First, if you've forgotten your password, you can use the "Keychain First Aid" utility to make the keychain password the same as the login password. This can be accomplished via the following process:
1. Open Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
2. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Preferences"

Navigate to ~/Library/Keychains/ (this is the Library folder inside your user's home folder). Find the file named "login.keychain" and double-click it.
Failing that, select the "login" keychain within the Keychain Access application and make sure it is the default keychain by going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make 'Login' Default"
Turn off Keychain synchronization in applications having problems If specific applications are experiencing issues when accessing password-protected material, the Keychain may be to blame.

In the Channels window, I can access the R, G and B channels just fine, but I need to access the Alpha channel. I need to make my image more opaque in places.

You could record an action that will make it easier in cs3.
Not the most elegant solution and only works to recover partial trnsparency, but might get you by until your given an upgrade to cs6.
The action below saves the transpency to a new channel, then at the end makes a layer mask from the transparency in the original layer and deletes the saved channel.
Then you paint on the layer mask or delete the layer mask.
