How can I tell how big an SD card I can use in my device.

I bought my Sansa clip probably five years or more ago, and want to add an SD card to it, but I can't find where the data is on just how large an SDcard I can use. Any ideas on where to look on my device???  The Version # is V01.02.15A and it was made in 2009. Thanks in advance.

32GB will work BUT you need to format it to FAT32.
Depending on what version of WIndows you have, you may need to get a third-party program or force it to format to FAT32.
Here's one how-to.
http://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/formatting-external-hard-drive-to-fat-32/
Also, the Sansa firmware was made before there were such large storage cards, and it may not be able to show all the files on the card if you have a whole lot of small files.
That's because there is a limit on the size of the database, which reads information from the files--Artist, Album, Title, etc.--and makes an index from them. It will show thousands of songs, and I have filled a 32GB card and had it show every song.
But...there is a character limit on the size of that index, and many people have run up against it.  It's not an exact number of files; every letter makes a difference, so if your Artist listing is Rolling Stones rather than The Rolling Stones you might be able to show a few more files.
You can see if you have that problem when you use the card because your listings (Album, Artist) will stop before the end of the alphabet.
If you do have too many songs for the Sansa to show, you can get different firmware at www.rockbox.org  that can handle a much larger (possibly unlimited--I don't know) database. Read up on it before installing--it sits alongside the Sansa firmware so you can switch between them.

Please help to set it up, thanks in advance

You need to give more info..
Firstly only works for what.. networking.. backup.. wireless. You need more nouns.. more adjectives... describe what you want and what fails.. then we can figure out why.
Most likely you have bridged it when it should be in router mode..
Most likely you are using Lion or ML which has the airport utility bridge the TC by default.
Change it to working as a router. That might help.
If you press reset button it will default back to router btw.
If you are on Lion.. use a real utility. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1547

  • Only certain sequences can use External DV device to play back/preview?

    Hi there,
I'm still working on understanding this HD workflow... Using an HMC40 avccam I shot some PH720 60P footage.  After importing to Premiere Pro CS5 I created a timeline following the guides in http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/production/pdfs/cs5_production_premium_avccam_ wfg.pdf .  I found that none of my 60p (or 59.94) sequences give me the option to show realtime playback on my external dv camera.  It simply shows "None" as the option for the external device.  While 30p (29.97) sequences show up just fine.
Is there a reason for this or is there a work around?  I have only played with these few formats so I don't know what else can and cannot be output via firewire to my mindv camera.
    Thank you!
    -Stephen

Thanks for the reply.  I am confused as to why I can view SOME HD sequences but not all via the firewire connection.  I am not concerned with seeing HD quality through the minidv camera but it goes to a tv that is usefull to see full screen for coloring and effect previewing.  It's nice to see the footage on both LCD and a tube television.
It just seems odd that one sequence can work while the other cannot but I assume it is directly related to 24p vs. 30p vs 60p etc.  I haven't seen this in the help file so that's why I asking here.  I just want to be sure it's a standard thing and that nothing is wrong on my end... and maybe an explanation so I understand it a bit better...
    Thanks!

  • How can I control external devices using a touch screen with a standalone LabVIEW app

For my senior design project my group and I created a hybrid extended range vehicle with 90 Li+ Batteries thats charged by a 15 kW generator and/or that is also being charged by a 5 kW fuel cell. Currently, our system is capable of measuring voltages off of the batteries and displaying them on a laptop via LabVIEW. To process this data, we are using a cRIO FPGA. What we would like to do now is have a touch screen for the driver to choose what power source charges the batteries as well as monitor a pressure reading coming from the fuel cell tank.
What sort of small touch screens allow for LabVIEW to be uploaded on and used for controls?
Does a cRIO have the capability to power such a screen and handle the data transfer from the fuel sensor and switching relays (for switching on and off powersources)?
Do I need an additional license for creating standalone applications and how would i go about creating a standalone app?
sorry for so many question. Any reply helps. Thanks!

That sounds like a pretty interesting project.  If you are interested, National Instruments hosts a Student Design Competition where you can win cash or a trip to Austin for NIWeek.

NI does sell Touch Panel computers that can be used to control LabVIEW applications.  You can find more information here: HMIs and Industrial Touch Panels and here: LabVIEW Real-Time and Touch Panel Deployment and Replication Resources. Our 6-inch touch panel computers run Windows CE, so programming on them is a little different than programming on a full Windows OS.  You may find the Getting Started with the LabVIEW Touch Panel Module useful.
You can use third party devices with the LabVIEW Touch Panel Module, although you will need a deployment license for it.  More information can be found in the getting started guide.
If you were able to send the cRIO information over a network (which from your description sounds unlikely), you may be able to use a smartphone to control your application.  More information can be found on our Community Smartphone Group.

If you were using the 6-inch touch panels, they require 18 to 32 VDC (the fuse becomes an open circuit if input level exceeds 33 VDC).  The data transfer from the switching relays can be monitored and changed with the touch panel.

If you went the touch panel route, you would need to purchase the LabVIEW Touch Panel Module, and a touch panel.  The NI touch panels come with a touch panel deployment license.  Step-by-step guides for creating the standalone app can be found in the Getting Started with the LabVIEW Touch Panel Module guide.

  • ThinkPad X230 - Test Instrument: "This device cannot find free resources that it can use (Code12)"

I am use an ExpressCard (http://www.home.agilent.com/en/pd-2053520-pn-M9045B/pcie-expresscard-adapter) to connect Lenovo notebook with instrument chassis (http://www.home.agilent.com/en/pd-1886666-pn-M9018A/18-slot-pxie-chassis).
I found that Lenovo notebook failed to enumerate with the instruments with error "This device cannot find free resources that it can use (Code12)" in device manager.
This never happened in Lenovo model ThinkPad X220 and models before that.
Other affected model:  ThinkPad T430, T540p which all failed to enumerate.
Note: All notebooks are upgraded to latest BIOS.

You are going to need to move that card to another slot. That is definitely your problem. I had mine in the PCI-E X8 slot which then knocked my video card down to x8 as well. So this definitely takes up resources. Also you can use something like EVEREST of Sisoft Sandra and those will tell you what else is sharing with that card. You could have a difficult network card that is fighting with it as well. You may think that its onboard and that of course it would not fight, but it does.

  • Cropping my pictures - Want to know how big I can print them afterwards

I have always been a Kodak EasyShare user in the past. I decided that this year after my vacation, I would start using iPhoto for all of my photos. I am having a bit of a problem right now and I am hoping that somebody can help me. In EasyShare, when I cropped a picture, it would still tell me how big I could enlarge that picture to afterwards with no loss in quality. I would simply choose "4X6 photo" and as I cropped it in closer and closer, my options as far as enlarging would be reduced. Is there anyway that I can do this in iPhoto? I want to crop a lot of my pictures, but I don't want to take away any image quality later on if I choose to enlarge them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Matt

iPhoto does not have that feature - you have to look at the size of the photo (in the info window in the lower left of yoru iPhoto window) and the size you want to print
as a guideline if you want to print at 180 dpi (the point where Apple warns you that you may not like the quality) then you need the following minimum sizes (180 x the dimensions in inches)
    3x5 -- 540 x 900
    4X6 -- 720 x 1080
    5x7 -- 900 x 1260
    8x10 -- 1440 x 1800
    8.5x11 -- 1530 x 1980
For 300 dpi prints the numbers are much larger - for example
    8.5x11 -- 2550 x 3300
The math is very simple - dpi you want to print times the dimensions of the print

    Perfect, thanks.
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • How big of an internal drive can I put in my 2007 iMac

My 2007 iMac hard drive has died & I'm looking for a new hard drive. What size/ how big can I go?
    Debra

Are you planning on taking apart your iMac and installing this drive, yourself?
This is not an easy DIY project to do if you are a newbie or novice to working on computers or Macs.
It is a lot easier to purchase and external FireWire 800 hard drive and format it for OS X, install OS X on it and boot from and use the external drive.
Best external drives are from OWC (macsales.com) Mercury Pro or Mini stack drives (with or without additonal optical drive) and external FW hard drives from LaCie.

I, personally, prefer Lacie drives. They are built like a rock and work very, very well. The drives have a good record for longevity.

  • How big of a hard drive can I use?

    Hi Folks,
I would like to upgrade as the 160Gig drive I have is plum full.  How big can I go in a T41,, 500, 650, 1T?  Am I at the limit now?
    Thanks!

At one point, the largest hard drive was the 250GB hard drive, but I read recently that there was a Fujitsu 320GB available.  The biggest issue is that the T41 uses PATA 2.5" hard drives.  Look out for the SATA drives, because they wont work.
Can you get buy with using an external drive?  If so, there are 1TB drives that you can get nowadays for less than $100...

  • How big of a Hard Drive can I put in?

I was wondering how big of a HDD I can put in my iMac Early 2006 4,1?

    Logic Pro,
You don't say specifically which 24" iMac you have Aluminum or White. Here are instructions for the Aluminum:
    http://www.amfiteatar.org/content/view/155/78/lang,en/
If your iMac is still under warranty please remember doing this will probably void any warranty you have left.

  • How big of a hard drive can I stuff in my 13" white mac book?

    Hi,
I have a (june 2007) 13" 2.16 GhZ, 2 GB RAM Intel Core 2 Duo white macbook with a 120 GB hard drive. The hard drive is about 3/4 of the way full and I am starting to shop around for an upgrade. According to apple, my macbook is upgradable to 250 GB but I have found a WD 320 GB drive that is supposedly compatible here
    http://eshop.macsales.com/MyOWC/Upgrades.cfm?model=265&type=DataStorage&TI=2824&shoupgrds=ShowUpgrades
My question is, how big of a hard drive can I fit in my little macbook? I just want to be sure before I buy.
    Thanks!

I installed the 320 GB Western Digital drive in my BlackBook and it runs great. I checked it against my 80 GB drive with XBench and it has better response time.
While your in the buying mood you might want to consider a OWC Hard Drive Enclosures. I picked up one to install my old drive in so I could use it to help recover my system and to use for storage,

  • How big of a hardrive can i use in my gigabit ethernet g4 dual 500.

    Hi there.
I wanted to now how big of a hard drive can i use in my gigabit ethernet g4 powerpc with a dual 500 processor . at the present time i have one 80 and one 20 gig drive in there now.
So my answer is how big of a drive can i use before i have problems with seting it up. Like i want to use a 500 gig drive in my computer and my old 80 gig too. i want to buy a apple tv and store my dvds on the big 500 hardrive so i have alot of room for the vidio files, for apple t.v . If i can use one as big as one terabite you now the real big one that would be fine. The more room i have the better for me. I will be able to watch the movies i downloaded from the internet and i wont have to burn them at all.
This is of corse if apple tv will handle it.

    Hi-
If you need that much storage, and you'll have to buy a controller anyhow, get a SATA controller card, and put one or two 500gb SATA drives in. The enterprise class of SATA drives are made especially for multi media storage, have excellent seek times and fast data transfer rates. A "bargain" on a package can be had at OWC:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/SATAM500GPCI/
    or
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/SATAM10TBPCI/
The MaxLine Pro drives have great characteristics, and are reviewed favorably.
I have an OWC SATA card, and the card works perfectly, and is cheaper than other makers cards of equivalent specs.
