How can I tell if my ABS isn't besides the obvious?

Hi All,
The past few days my ABS has dropping internet connection. At first I thought it was my IP but after calling them and they fixing the modem, I still can't connecting using my ABS. I even reset the settings and set everything back up but still no joy. I gives a green light but when I try to access the internet via airport, safari doesn't make the connection.
Is there a way to test the ABS to see functioning properly or if I need to go out and get a new one?

On your Mac Pro open the Network panel of System Preferences and select the item on the left for the type of connection you're using. What value do you see on the right for the IP address? If you're using an Ethernet connection, what do you see for "Subnet Mask", "Router" and "DNS Server"? If you're using an AirPort connection, click on the "Advanced" button. Select the "TCP/IP" tab. What values do you see for "Subnet Mask" and "Router"? Select the "DNS" tab. What value do you see for "DNS Server"?
To check the ABS itself, launch AirPort Utility, select the base station on the left, and click on the "Manual Setup" button. What do you see for "IP Address" near the bottom? (If you're worried about exposing your IP address, just report the first two "octets", such as "123.456".

    As long as you are behind a router, you don't need to have your firewall turned on at all, in fact it probably slows your computer and/or internet connection down a bit. The only time you need it is to either protect yourself against intrusion from others on your local network or if you hook your computer directly to a cable / DSL modem.     This is not accurate.
    You can authorize up to 5 computers with the same iTunes account. There is no device limit for the number of iPods, iPads, and iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on the same computer.
    An iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on one computer only, and photos can be transferred from one computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first.
    This is why I asked - you have connected your iPhone to each one of these computers for what?
    I was not sure which computer I first used. Is there a simple way to check?

    If you connect your iPhone to a "non-master" computer to install the update, you will be provided a warning.
    How many computers are you talking about? If 5 or less, this should take you no more than 10 minutes to determine which computer you transferred music and photos from.

    Since iTunes Match uses my album art and metadata, is there a way to see the album art of the matched item from iTunes?
    I have ripped hundreds of classical music CDs through the years into iTunes, and they all have album art (not from iTunes Match).   Now that I have signed up for iTunes Match, how can I confirm that a matched item from iTunes is from the correct album? 
    I have read that the matching algorithm isn't perfect and can match to the wrong item.   I have recently upgraded the quality of all my ripped music by downloading all the matches from iTunes Match, and replacing my local CD rips (I have backups).
    So, if I ripped Beethoven's 9th by Herbert Von Karajan, is there a way to see the album art of the matched music from iTunes, so that I can confirm it didn't match the item to Beethoven's 9th by Bruno Walter?
    Does the matching algorithm use song length/duration, or is it only using wave form sampling?

    I'm not having any troubles with artwork changing, but I wish I were, because if the artwork changed then that would allow me to detect if the correct tracks are being matched.  
    I'm worried about waveform matching with classical music because I can have 2 pianists or 2 orchestras that play the same piece so it seems that the waveforms would be very similiar.   I have many CDs of the same pieces of music but by different performers.  For example, both performers play on a piano and both play the same piece of music.  Wouldn't the waveforms be very similar?
    So that's why I'm wondering if there is some way to get the artwork of the piece being matched, so that I can see what album it is coming from.
    Do you think if I deleted my artwork and then matched, that I'd get the artwork injected into my matched music?

  • How can I tell whether my Mac Pro is using the bluetooth dongle or not?

    I got myself a bluetooth dongle to get around the terrible internal BT signal. When it's in use, it alleviates all my troubles and I can actually stroll halfway down the hall and still type accurately.
    However, it seems that every time I reboot, it must stop using the dongle and use the internal, because I then get the terrible signal of the internal antenna. The only way to convince my computer to use the dongle, is to unplug and plug it back in. Then I have to delete all my bluetooth devices and pair them again!
    So yes, I am seeking a two-part solution.
    Firstly, I'd like to know if there's anywhere in System Profiler, BT Preferences, Terminal, etc that will just inform me of WHICH bluetooth my computer is using.
    Secondly, I'd ideally want to set it to default to the dongle. If this isn't possible, at least the first part would let me know when I need to arduously re-do my settings.

Usually this isn't that big an issue, as I only rarely need to move my peripherals off my desk, but I got a Magic Mouse earlier this week and its extremely clear it doesn't have as strong an antenna or whatever as the Mighty Mouse, and it starts going erratic if I move it so much as a foot from the Mac Pro tower.

    I have the same problem and I cannot find any way to turn off the internal bluetooth without killing all bluetooth including the dongle. If someone has a way to turn off the internal bluetooth I want to see it.

    I am developing a servlet which supposed to be used to send and receive message
    in multiple character set. However, I read from the previous postings that each
    Weblogic Server can only support one input character encoding. Is that true?
    And do you have any suggestions on how I can do what I want. For example, I
    have a HTML form for people to post any comments (they may post in any characterset,
    like ShiftJIS, Big5, Gb, etc). I need to know what character encoding they are
    using before I can read that correctly in the servlet and save in the database.

    From what I understand (I haven't used it yet) 6.1 supports the 2.3
    servlet spec. That should have a method to set the encoding.
    Otherwise, I don't think you can support multiple encodings in one
    instance of WebLogic.
    From what I know browsers don't give any indication at all about what
    encoding they're using. I've read some chatter about the HTTP spec
    being changed so it's always UTF-8, but that's a Some Day(TM) kind of
    thing, so you're stuck with all the stuff out there now which doesn't do
    everything in UTF-8.
    Sorry for the bad news, but if it makes you feel any better I've felt
    your pain. Oh, and trying to process multipart/form-data (file upload)
    forms is even worse and from what I've seen the API that people talk
    about on these newsgroups assumes everything is ISO-8859-1.

    Also, there is no way to see traffic "at that moment in time".
    ConfigMgr is just not a "real-time" product.
    As Jörgen said the best you can get is to look at the client logs.

    I've got a JEditorPane connected to a viewport and a couple of scrollbars, and I realy need to know when the JEditorPane has completed loading the document, so that I can decide whether to turn on or off the scrollbars.
    When I try to check the viewport.getView().getWIdth() right after calling setText() or setPage() the values come out wrong... is there an eventHandler that I can register ?

    OK, I'm not an expert. But, why set the scrollbars manually? Would it not be easier to put the JEditPane in a JScrollPane with the scroll policy set to "as needed"?

    i just broke my ipod touch 4g about a month ago and i think it is just the glass but i am not sure. It cracked and the glass started falling out of the top right corner and today, the white part started cracking. is this just part of the glass or is it part of the LCD screen? I want to figure this out because i dont want to order a repair kit with an LCD screen if i dont have to. thanks in advanced

  • Help Please! How can I tell what is stored on my iPod?

    I just recently got a new iPod Nano, and started using iTunes to upload music to it. But, for some reason, I can only fit like 60 or so songs onto it. I have a 1 GB Nano. If I click onto my iPod in iTunes, it says at the bottom of the screen that I have 59 songs, 3.2 hrs of music, 223.2 MB, but just above that, where the bar is that shows how much is stored to my iPod, it says I have used 750.5 MB and have 142.1 MB free. Where is the other 527.3 MB being used and how can I tell? Is it being used in the games? I have no pics or videos at all on my iPod. It's getting very frustrating because I can't fit very much at all on my 1GB Nano. Help!

    Does the bar showing used space have a portion labeled "Other"?
    Usually other is files that have been copied to the iPod directly, or space you have told the iPod to reserve for other files by enabling disk use.

    Early on my son purchased apps on my account and downloaded them on HIS iphone.  Eventually, I got him his own iPhone account and so he has also purchsed apps on his own account and downloaded them on his phone. 
    When we open iTunes and connect his phone, there is a list of apps that are on his phone.
    QUESTION
