How can I tell MDT to use the efisys_noprompt.bin as the bootloader used to create the litetouch.iso

I would like to have an iso file that does not have the "press any key to boot from cd/dvd" prompt. I know how to do this manually but I would like to be able to set this somewhere so that MDT will use it whenever the iso is updated. Is there
a script file somewhere with the command given to oscdimg that can be edited?

It's not so much that I think it's unimportant, as that I think you new to MDT, and may be doing things wrong.
I can't think of a scenario of why you would want to do this, and I have written on my blog about the dangers of mucking around with the BIOS boot order with respect to USB boot drives. There are too many users who don't understand how the system work, or
what the ramifications are when you change these settings.
Sure you can remove the bootfix.bin file on BIOS machines to remove the "press any key to..." prompt from DVD media and the like, however if the BIOS settings are configured for DVD before the Hard Disk, you will keep booting into the Litetouch BOot media,
which is a *horrible* experience for users. on BIOS machines, for example, I have had much better luck of marking boot partitions as Inactive in order to *FORCE* the DVD to boot (Yes the bootfix.bin file will skip the prompt on the DVD *if* there is not hard
disk marked active).
Asking "Why would you want to do that? What are you trying to accomplish?" is a perfectly valid question on a technical alias like this.

    Hey davma1
All you need to delete the songs then go through the process of downloading the past purchase again.

  • How can I tell all PCs has the DAU installed?

I am running ZCM 10.3 on SLES 10. I have enabled patch management and I saw the DAU has version 38. How can I tell version 38 is the latest DAU for ZCM 10.3.
Also, how can I tell all devices have the latest DAU installed? I came across a few devices have problem with ZCM agent and after I fixed the issue, I saw it started to install the DAU. However, if I have not touched that managed devices, I would not know there is a problem. Can I check all devices status with DAU on ZCC?

  • How can I tell what is using up the space on my hard drive?

My computer has been messing up for a while, giving me the message "startup disc almost full". I only have 4 gb free space now, after throwing all my photos and music onto external drive. What is making my disc so full? All the rest of my files are text? How can I figure out what is taking up so much space? Thanks

Moving iTunes music is more involved than a simple
drag and drop affair; you would be making copies on
some other media, but could be leaving duplicates or
originals on the hard drive in the process. Same with
images and iPhoto derived items. There are some
Apple Support documents on how to manage these.
    The user folder has things in it you have installed;
generally your saved items would be found in there.

  • How can i tell which device made the itune purchased

hi every one i just want to know how to tell which device made the purchased in itune thanks.

Not much you can do...unless the bill indicates the class of device, such as iPad, so you can narrow it down.
If all have access to the same accounts using the same credit cards and do not have to identify themselves, there just isn't much you can do to tell who did the download.

  • HT201303 How can you tell which devices used the Apple ID? For example: "twoPads, 2 iPhones and 1 computer used your Apple ID ?"

I believe my kid gave somebody my password to download something. And I want to know who? Can it say  For example: "2 iPads, 2 iPhones and 1 computer used your Apple ID ?"

Only if they went to the trouble of setting their device up as a "Managed Device" on your ID.
    Change your password.

  • How can I tell *who* is using a shared folder on my Mac?

I've searched high and low looking for a way to (1) get notified when someone connects to my Mac via AFP, and (2) see who is connected. Except for the System Preferences->Sharing panel, which will reveal how many users are connected, there's nothing I can find that will tell me anything about current AFP connections.
Perhaps there's a third-party utility that will do this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Beavis2084 wrote:
And that "Who is connected" looks real neat!
It is a bit of a letdown, actually. I just tried it, could only get it to show that there is someone connected, but not how many or who they are. And then I saw this right on their webpage itself:
    Known bugs and limitations:
    - Who Is Connected? doesn't do everything that it says on the tin (yet)...it doesn't list individual connections at a given point in time. Sorry, it almost does what it says on the tin, and it may well do one day, but not quite yet.
At this time, Who Is Connected? seems more useful for SSH than AFP. Well, unfortunately I never use SSH...
I got a little more out of Network Utility. It's more cryptic, you kind of have to know what all the code means, after clicking all the buttons I was able to locate something that said "afp" and identify the IP address of my other connected Mac but a lot of Mac users wouldn't even know to look for that.
I guess this problem is crying out for a solution that is truly Mac-like in its readability.

  • How can I tell if I have the right restore disks for Intel Mac Mini

I have an "early 2006" (confirmed by S/N YM609***) Intel Mac Mini 1.66mhz Core Duo. I bought it used and the hard drive had been wiped. Both the HD and the DVD drive seem to work fine; hard drive passes SMART tests. I was able to boot using "Drive Genius" and can access the pre-install items like Disk Utility (and know that I need to use GUID formatting to create a bootable disk). Not knowing I could order restore disks from Apple I bought a set on eBay, p/n AHT VERSION 3A102 DISC VERSION 1.1 2Z691-5828-A, copyright 2006 on disks and included documentation (OS 10.4.6), but the install always fails 10-15 minutes along. I got the same results when trying to install via internal optical drive to a FW or USB external HD (told it to use GUID for the external HD), or external FW optical drive both to internal HD and to external USB hard drive. A friend tried to install full retail versions of 10.5 and even 10.6 for diagnostic purposes, using the built in HD and DVD drives, but those installs did not complete either; they did not try external drives. Is that the wrong restore version for this model, or even if the right "generation", does a set of restore disks only work with the specific Mac mini they were issued for like for example XP restore disks would? I've been told I can provide my s/n to Apple and for about $30 they will send me the "right" restore disks... anyone know anything about this? Could there be a hardware/firmware explanation for why the install fails like that? PS ran the extended version of the Apple Hardware Test with that restore disk set and it reported "no problems."
    <Edited by Host>

Thanks. Actually I got the Mini from a computer recycling company I work with so I knew it might have problems and that I was taking an "as-is" risk. If the original disks were turned in with it, they'd been lost (that outfit took in huge piles of stuff every day; it was often luck of the draw for me to find something before it would be buried, damaged, etc., and not everyone who worked there had any idea of the possible value of things they received) for me to find things. The disks I got on eBay apparently were separated from the mini they'd been packaged for. An Apple Store rep said I could order restore direct from Apple just by providing my serial number; just wish I'd known that before I went to eBay. Since posting this I've seen another seller specifically claiming that the same-part-numbered-as-mine disc set they are selling will work with my specific type of Mac mini. I have an appointment tomorrow morning at the Genius Bar at an Apple store near me in case they have more suggestions. Will share what I know as things develop.

  • I'm up to 55 gb on my 60 gb HD--how can I tell what's hogging the space?

I have 10,000 pics on iphoto, which I thought was the culprit, but after backing that up to an external, that only is 12 gb. I need to free up more space to load iphoto6 and do some movies.
What's the best way to find out exactly what is using up space? And what are the common culprits?
    thanks!

You can use WhatSize to find out where the space on your hard disk is going; don't delete anything without getting further advice. Possible causes include:
    1. One application or process writing a large number of entries to a log file.
    2. An application trying to write large amounts of data to a disk which isn't connected to the machine.
    3. Large numbers of swapfiles appearing in the /private/var/vm/ folder.

  • Hp photosmart 2610xi how can you tell if it has the "optional duplex feature" on board?

I need to know if the HP photosmart 2610xi printer has an optional duplex print feature on board.  the user guide I can not find support for the feature. Note the mfg. specifications states it is an Optional feature for the printer. Thanks in advance for your help in this question.
    manmike

    Hi,
Normally you can check using printer properties when print or you can check to see if it had a duplexer and you can also check using its specs:

No, it does not have this optional.

  • How can I tell if I used a clip in FCE?

In iMovie, clips that are used are marked with a stripe. Is there a way to identify used clips (or parts of clips) in FInal Cut Express? I have looked everywhere.

Unfortunately not. Most people manually keep track of the media they've used. I personally keep a "Used" bin in the browser and drag all used clips into it. Here's a bit more information:

Yes it does not mount as a lettered drive. It is combined with the main drive in a RAID array. Look in the list of programs and find Intel Rapid Storage Technology and open it up. If you have the 24 gig cache drive it will look something like this:
See the two drives listed in the upper right corner?
