How can I tell which pictures have both raw and jpeg?

if I import with jpeg as master, how can I tell which photos also have a raw version?

To ways, one create a filter with file type set to RAW+JPEG, two look at the badges on an image, a badge with an 'R' in it indicates the image is part of a RAW+JPEG pair and the RAW image is the master, if its a 'J' the JPEG is the master.

  • How can I see which pictures have been backed up

How can I see which pictures have been backed up

All the pictures in your camera roll will be backed up in iTunes or iCloud (depending on whether you have iCloud backup enabled on your iPhone) every time a backup is performed. The other photos stored on your iPhone (i.e. the ones you didn't shoot using the iPhone itself) will NOT be backed up.
Nevertheless, it can't hurt to import them into iPhoto or Aperture (or whatever you're using) as roaminggnome suggested.

  • How can I tell which songs have been iTunes matched?

When first using iTunes Match, how can I tell which songs were 'matched' and which were simply uploaded?

Simply turn on the iCloud Status and iCloud Download fields on your library view - you can then see whether the Song is 'purchase', 'matched' or 'uploaded'.

  • How can you tell which files have backed up to external hard drive using Time Machine?

    Hello Mac Users,
I have Macbook Pro (early 2011) and recently purchased a WD My Passport for Mac external HD. I have completed a back up using Time Machine, however how do I tell what files actually were backed up? I have a ton of audio, documents and photos that I would like on there. Its a 2 TB HD, my memory is 750 GB... Im using 632. At end of back up, the drive still had 1.88 TB left. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It makes no changes to your data.
Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    tmutil compare | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
The command may take several minutes to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Don't post all the output; just read it yourself. Each line that begins with a plus sign (“+”) represents a file that has been added to the source volume since the last snapshot was taken. These files have not been backed up yet.
Each line that begins with an exclamation point (“!”) represents a file that has changed on the source volume. These files have been backed up, but not in their present state.
Each line that begins with a minus sign (“-“) represents a file that has been removed from the source volume.
Files that you’ve excluded from backup, or that are excluded automatically, are ignored.
At the end of the output, you’ll get some lines like the following:
    Added:
    Removed:
    Changed:
These lines show the total amount of data added, removed, or changed on the source(s) since the last snapshot.
Caution: Under some conditions, tmutil may falsely flag files as not having been backed up when in fact they have been. It can be confused by multi-linked files, or by files with a modification date earlier than the one in the snapshot. This will not be an issue for most users. If the results of the above procedure surprise you, inspect your snapshots directly.

  • How can you tell which clips have which presets?

I have dozens of presets in my library for various types of clips so aside from tagging everything, is there a place that displays which preset color correction I am using on a clip? If not is there another way to see what it is besides tagging?

Thanks, that helped with my other question too.

  • I have lots of duplicate songs in ITunes. How can I tell which ones were purchased vs ripped?

I am trying to delete duplicate songs in iTunes library. How can I tell which ones were iTunes purchases and which ones I ripped from CD's.

If you turn on the Kind column your purchases will read Purchased AAC audio file or Protected AAC audio file.
BTW I've written a script called DeDuper which can help remove unwanted duplicates. See this  thread for background.

  • Viewing both RAW and JPEG files in iPhoto

If I use the new Apple SD card reader to download image files from my camera, it is my understanding that by default it brings over both the RAW and JPEG versions of the same images to the iPad Mini (since my camera is taking both types with each image).
Will these then show up as two separate images in iPhoto? The reason I'm asking is because if I have to bring over the RAW files, I want some way of then deleting them off my iPad because they take up to much HD space.
No one I've talked to at Apple seems to know if there's a way to bring over just the JPEG files I want when using the SD card reader, which seems like a huge oversight in functionality to me.
    Thanks, David.

    LarryHN:
    1) your suggestion will not work for the issue I'm describing: if I have both Raw and Jpeg files of the same image on my SD card, the iPad sort of lumps these together, so when I view the contents of my SD card it shows as one image/file, and if I select it and download it, it brings over both the Raw and Jpeg versions of the image, which is what I am trying to avoid and why I started the tread in the first place.
    2) I spoke with sales people at two Apple stores and one person with their online sale, and none of them could addrss my issue. The online sales person said she might have to put me through to their tech people to resolve this or at least get the full, correct info. None of them were janitors.
I did find a workaround which I think will work:
Download the files over to my iPad, then use an app like Photo Manager Pro to be able to view the files by type, then select the Raw files and delete them from my iPad. This will work I hope, but seems like a lot of extra work for a device that's supposed to be user friendly--I think Apple missed the boat on this one, opting for making things 'simple' instead of functional for photographers.

  • How can I tell which generation I Pad I have?

How can I tell if I have a gen 3 or gen 4 I Pad?

Show me where the 3rd Generation is shown here: http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_ipad
You missed all the long posts here where iPad 3 users were upset about the 4th Generation Retina iPad being released so soon and replacing the 3rd Generation. Many said their iPads were obsolete and couldn't understand why the 2 was still being sold and the "3" (even though it wasn't called that) was discontinued.
You can still find some new units at some resellers. You can find refurbished units in the Apple Store. None of them have a Lightning connector and they never will.

  • How can I tell which catalog a missing image belongs to?

How can I tell which catalog a missing image belongs to?
Beating a dead horse.....Everytime I need "missing images" in LR4.2, I cannot access them, even though I am looking right at the location they presntly occupy because thye image is ALREADY IN ANOTHER CATALOG.
HOW frustrating is this...going on 8 months now. But I need the images and I suppose I could just go back and reprocess 10,000 images that are missing in my collections but I have tried many solutions offered over the months that are just impractical.
So Now I want to approach this thing from the other direction...
If let's say one image is already associated with another catalog that houses that collection, ( and the collection is important because it has the edits), i want to go to that catalog instead.
    How do I do this?
    Any Ideas?

If let's say one image is already associated with another catalog that houses that collection, ( and the collection is important because it has the edits), i want to go to that catalog instead.
    How do I do this?
It sounds as if you have been using separate catalogs for sets of images which are in separate folders. Perhaps you have had good reason to do that. But I would now make three linked observations:
It seems that you are now more able to both find, and distinguish, things via a folder structure - rather than via whatever classification of different catalogs you may have thought were going to be helpful to you
accordingly, having these mutiple catalogs is now getting in your way
using folders works just the same inside one big catalog, as it does inside each of two smaller catalogs.
The solution to the first two, IMO, is to merge your separate catalogs into one catalog. Then the third will kick in. You can still keep the current separate catalogs for archive or reference purposes, but the "Import from Another Catalog" function will MERGE copies of all their contents into a combined, larger catalog that you can use going forward. (The images and folders themselves, do not change in any way when you do this.)
If you wish to track which catalog each image is currently inside, you could apply some kind of keyword across all images in that catalog, before carrying out the merge. However, it sounds to me as if your folder arrangement currently mirrors the different catalogs in some way anyway - and will continue to convey the same information once combined.
Lightroom is designed to be able to work with large numbers of images more or less the same as with small numbers; and this has been anecdotally confirmed in many cases. AFAICT the main performance  issue is not  the size of the database, but the size and nature of the image data involved and the complexity of things you do with that, per image, also the ability of your computer system to carry these operations out, per image. (Another overall productivity issue is: do you need to keep navigating to and opening different catalogs; or... not!)
Even if you merge catalogs and then change your mind about all or some of that, you can either: retain and go back to the previous un-merged catalogs - or: to preserve further work done since merging, you can use Export as Catalog to copy out a certain highlighted set of images. Then you can Remove what you wish from the main catalog - using the exact same means of identifying which images require this - for example, the image set you have only just exported to a new catalog will still be highlighted inside the source catalog.

  • How can I tell which apps were purchased on my account?

I did search for answers but couldn't find one that fit.
I have an iPhone and so does our son.
Early on my son purchased apps on my account and downloaded them on HIS iphone.  Eventually, I got him his own iPhone account and so he has also purchsed apps on his own account and downloaded them on his phone.
When we open iTunes and connect his phone, there is a list of apps that are on his phone.
    QUESTION
How can we tell which apps were purchased on HIS iTunes acct and which were purchased on MY iTunes acct?
I don't want to DO anything with the apps, I just want to know one from another.
    Thanks in advance!!

  • HT4914 How can you tell which songs are downloaded from the cloud on an ipad

How can you tell which songs are downloaded on the iPad from the cloud?

I know ipad albums are more like tagging photos rather than putting them in folders. I just have a nagging feeling I missed some pics and I have too many to try to go figure out one by one. I don't look at my photos from the camera roll, only from albums I tagged just because I imported photos from different sources and the dates and order is really messed up. I just want to know that I am viewing all the photos from like this vacation or that event and there's none I missed that are only in the camera roll.

  • How can I tell which machines need a given patch?

So when I run WSUS and view the Updates Report I can type in the specific patch I'm working on (MS14-066) and it tells XX computers have it, YY computers need it, etc.
How can I tell which are the YY computers that need the patch so I can go fix them up?  Is there an easy way to do that?
    Thanks.

How can I tell which are the YY computers that need the patch so I can go fix them up?
Run the Detailed View version of the report. There will be one (or more) pages for each update. The detailed pages list each computer, the approval status, and installation state.
However, the conventional way to address this question is to create target groups based on some classification of how you would approve updates (e.g. Desktops, Win2008R2, .NET4) and approve the updates for the *groups* of computers that should install the
    updates.

  • How can you tell which computer that is authorized as the master?

I have several computers that I have connected my iPhone to. How can I tell which computer I should connect to before updating the operating system? I don't want to loss data if I don't have to.

I am not that familiar with Apple and iTunes and was getting help from someone who said that I can plug my iPhone into my computers but that I would have to authorize the iPhone on each but the limit is 5.
    This is not accurate.
You can authorize up to 5 computers with the same iTunes account. There is no device limit for the number of iPods, iPads, and iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on the same computer.
An iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on one computer only, and photos can be transferred from one computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first.
This is why I asked - you have connected your iPhone to each one of these computers for what?
I was not sure which computer I first used. Is there a simple way to check?
No, or I would have provided that with my first reply.
If you connect your iPhone to a "non-master" computer to install the update, you will be provided a warning.
How many computers are you talking about? If 5 or less, this should take you no more than 10 minutes to determine which computer you transferred music and photos from.
