How can i transfer films from laptop to itunes and then to ipad?

is it possible to upload films from my laptop to my ipad (via itunes) without having to buy/download them from the istore?

Just drag the videos into the iTunes window or choose File > Add to Library, locate a file or folder, and click Open.
The video has to be in a format that is compatiple with iTunes. If you wish to add it to your iPad it needs to be in an iPad compatible format also.

I want to transfer songs from my brother's itunes library to my shuffle, but when I plug it in his computer, a message saying that his library is not linked to my library (or something to that extent) and whether I would like to replace the songs. Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device. Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

the way i do it, and im a perfectionist so this might not interest you. but i always want my music files organized. so i dont copy right into iTunes. I go to the original file location where iTunes has stored all the other music, and i create a new folder for the songs that i am putting into iTunes. Then after i put the music in that folder, i drag that folder into iTunes. This way, I always know where that music is if i ever want to transfer it to another computer.
