i've been trying to transfer music from my macbook to my iphone but it deletes all the music i have on my iphone then adds the music from the macbook what can i do so i ADD music to my iphone without having anything deleted!

Music other than that purchased from the iTunes store had to be synced to the device using iTunes on a computer. The media should still exist on that computer. She can use the computer to sync the music to the new device.
An iPad or iPhone is NOT a backup device. In order to set it up to sync to a new computer were she to replace hers, the media on the device would have to be erased before anything could be synced to it. Media synced to the device can not be synced back to a computer (without purchasing 3rd party software). Without a computer and iTunes, it's not possible to transfer media from one iDevice to another, even with 3rd party software. -
I have an iPhone 4. I would like to transfer music from my HP computer to the phone. The music appears on my iTunes page on the computer but I cannot figure out how to transfer it to the phone. I'd also like to transfer the phone numbers on my phone to my computer (so I can keep them on my backup drive in case something happens to the phone). When I connect the computer and the phone, it says it's 'syncing' but I certainly can't figure out what's being 'synced'. The only thing I've ever been able to transfer at all are photos from the phone to the computer. If I must upgrade my phone system to 6.1 to do thi, I am reluctant to try that because it says I must save things or they will be lost (e.g. music I've purchased, phone directory, etc) - which I have no clue how to do. My nearest Apple store can only be reached by plane (in Honolulu). Thanks for any help.

My family member has an iPad with music on it currently. This music is music bought from iTunes and music bought from other sources.
Her computer died a few months ago and she does not intend on replacing it.
She just bought an iPhone and would like to copy the music from her iPad to her new iPhone.
I had originally thought that iTunes Match would work for this, but the Apple Support article regarding iTunes Match (iTunes Store: Subscribing to iTunes Match) suggests that it requires a computer w/ iTunes to do the initial update.
I'm willing to consider approaches from either, Apple or third-party.

Or, if you have a network established that both computers are on, you can transfer your "iTunes" folder from one computer to the other. That's what I just did, (from my PC to my new Mac), and it worked just fine. (I only lost the files that I haven't deauthorized on the PC yet.)

- When you're setting up the iPad, it will ask if you want to restore from an iCloud backup—just choose the iPhone backup

- Sync your iPhone with iTunes—this will also make a backup
- If you've already used your iPad, on there go to Settings > General > Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings
- Connect your iPad to your computer and follow the steps in iTunes to restore from the iPhone backup
