How can I transfer my playlists when I don't have the old computer?

The hard drive that iTunes and my playlists were on was recently destroyed by a flooded basement.  I have a few thousand songs, and don't have the time/want to take the time to go through and recreate every single play list.  Is there any way to get the playlists off of my iPod to the new computer and the new iTunes?  I was told to create a backup of the playlists and the library, but I don't see any way to do that on the iPod.  Any (detailed) help is greatly appreciated.

You'll need a third-party utility. Senuti can do that:

There are other good applications that do the same thing, some just as well and even free.

  • Moving a library to a new computer when you don't have the old computer

    Hi,
I want to set up my ipod library on a new computer but I don't have the old one. Is this possible?
I used my work computer to set up my ipod mini and have since changed jobs. I only have the ipod and want to associate my new work computer with the library that exists on the ipod mini.
I can't seem to find any information that deals with this situation. Any ideas/help?
    thanks!

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

  • How can I erase my HD when I don't have the OSX Install Disc?

    Hi --
I have an old eMac (yes, it's 20011 and I have an eMac) that I'm shipping away to be recycled. I want to erase the hard drive but don't have any of the original install discs. I've tried the disk utility option, but it greys out the selection menus so I can't select a drive to erase, and it also greys out the erase button, so it appears I'm unable to do it that way.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
You may want to try a web search for a program called DBAN. Look for an earlier version for PowerPC. The download (an iso file) will allow you to burn a bootable disc.

HI, I need your help. How can I delete all data, when I do not have the special security code, which I didn´t remember ? I also think, that I never create this code before. But I cannot put my settings back.

You must remember the code, if you can't then take the phone and proof of purchase to an Apple Store.

  • How can you listen to music when you don't have an Internet or cellular connection?

Is it possible to access your library and Match?

Yes, just not all of it.
As you play music from the cloud, it gets saved to your device so the next time you play it, you don't need to be connected to the internet. That's why there's a setting to "show all music" - if you turn that off, you'll just see the songs that you have with you already, and can play without internet access.
You can also choose to download songs, albums or entire playlists, and those will be available later when you don't have a connection.

  • Can't I get my old iTunes that I have purchased downloaded from Apple?  I don't have the old computer anymore.  Also, is there a number to call if I think I have more than one account and would like them to consolidate my accounts?

    I have two problems:
    1.  I no longer have my old computer and want to download the iTunes I have purchased in previous years.  Aren't they all in "the cloud?"
    2.  I think I have more than one account and would like to get them combined.  Is there a good number or email to Apple that I could get that done?
    THanks!

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Have you failed to do this?
You can redownload some iTunes purchases in some countries:
Download past purchases - Apple Support
As provided, you cannot merge accounts

  • How to Transfer Files from Your Ipod to a New Computer when You Don't Have the Old One?

My old computer crashed and I have a new one now, how do I transfer the files from my ipod to my new computer itunes program???

  • How can I get into settings if I don't have the exchange password for my iPod Touch

I can't update my iPod Touch, 4th gen. through iTunes because it says it can't connect. I can't get into my settings because it keeps asking for an exchange password that I don't remember. Is there some way I can reset the iPod without having access to either of these means?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
Restoreing from backup will not change the need for the forgotton password if the backup was made with password on the iPod
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • How can I change my site if I don't have the .muse file?

I'm away from home and need to change my website. I have a laptop, muse and internet connectivity, but not the local file, which is back home (won't make that mistake again :-) ). Is there a way to download the .muse file from creative catalyst to edit it where I am now?

With cloud you also get online storage space. So you can upload your files to the cloud and can access those files from anywhere.
But this is not an automated process. You need to upload the files to the cloud manually. Once the files are uploaded, these files can be accessed/downloaded.
