[SOLVED] How can I turn off the annoying auto indent tabs in VIM?

I'm coding in Python and VIM is auto-tabbing each new line. It's a real buzz kill.
When I hit enter at the left margine, even when there is nothing on the line above the cursor, it shoots out a tab and three spaces. I've switched to nano but feel lost without VIM. I've never seen this behavior before. I've turned off all of the auto indentation options I can think of.

Unfortunately, I have to do a ":set indexexpr='' " each time I start VIM. I've got it in the .vimrc but it seems to be ignored.
I'm used to Ubuntu and this feels really weird. It's like profiles aren't processed.
I would appreciate it if somoeone would point me in the correct direction.

Does it give a program name when it pops up, or does it just give you that message and a couple of options to choose from?

How do I turn off the ladies voice that comes on after my voicemail greeting. It tells people how to leave a message and isn't necessary.

On my voicemail greeting that I recorded when someone calls they hear my message and then the auto attendant comes on and tells them the same thing I just said. How do I turn that off?

I don't think you follow what Shane has explained as a possible solution. You have recorded a full personal message but may have done it under the option for a system generated message. A system generated message only requires you to leave your name then it announces the rest of the message (leave your name and number etc) after it plays just your name to the caller.
Try setting your voicemail up again but listen to the options fully to see if you have to record a personal message under a seperate option. Usually a personal message is just the recording of your message and no system voice at all.

How can I turn off the blue tips that pop up every time I start Adobe Reader?

Every time I start Adobe Reader XI, or every time I double-click a PDF file from another program, a blue bubble pops up under the "Open" portion of the toolbar that says "Easily open all your files across devices" and I cannot make it stop.
I have:
- Unchecked "Show me messages when I launch Reader" in Preferences/General/Messages form Adobe
- Checked "Don't show messages while reviewing a document" in Preferences/General/Messages form Adobe
How can I make this stop displaying?

This was strange. To be honest, I had never clicked the large "open" folder icon on the left of the toolbar. Once I did it showed me three options: Recent Files, My Computer, and Acrobat.com Files (cloud storage).
After actually looking at this feature, and then closing and opening Acrobat Reader again, the blue pop-up does not appear anymore. I closed and opened Acrobat Reader several times and it does not appear anymore. Apparently, it's a prompt to get you to look at the feature and prompts you until you do. I'm not sure why it does not appear on your screen. Perhaps a feature that is available only to "newer" versions of Windows (7+)?

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro that was just updated to OS X Yosemite. My only gripe about the new OS is that whenever I try to go fullscreen in a YouTube video, it makes a slow, panning animation. It may not seem like much but after a while it's become extremely annoying. I don't know if it has anything to do with the new Safari or how it deals with websites, or maybe it's a plugin that I need to have, whatever. Where do you see the default birthday showing as Nov. 30? If you can explain that, I can probably modify the below script to do that clean up.

I'm not sure why I missed the original reply, but here is an Applescript that will change all the years of any selected contacts to 1604 (default for no year).
tell application "Contacts"
          set thePeople to selection
          repeat with aPerson in thePeople
                    set theDate to birth date of aPerson
                    if theDate is not missing value then
                              set the year of theDate to 1604
                              set birth date of aPerson to theDate
                    end if
          end repeat

copy and paste it into a new Applescript Editor document. Select all the contacts you want to change (in Contacts), then run this script by clicking on the green Run button in Applescript Editor.

Thanks Nancy. Unfortunately that doesn't do it. I turned those off awhile back. Nor can I find anything under VIEW that seems to make a difference. Just FYI: I'm on a Mac OS w/Dreamweaver CS6 - but this has happened on previous versions of DW. Thanks again.

I think the avatar pictures help a lot to visually tell apart the different users participating. Pictures are way quicker to discern than user names are.
Do you want them removed because they distract you or you find certain ones disturbing (You can easily flag those to the moderation team)?

You have two options and you probably won't like any of them.
Using the Airport Utility, click on the AE then "Base Station", then "Options". That will bring up two options for you AE green light, either keep it green at all times or only light up when it is being used.
The second option is put some tape over it.
