How can I uninstall Quicktime completely?

I want to purge ALL files related to Quicktime so that I can try installing a fresh copy to see if that would get it to working again.
See thread about it not working anymore since the latest "upgrade":
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=982795&tstart=0

So have apple agreed to fix your problem without you having to pay a fee? I also can see that this is a huge problem for a lot of people and it is very frustrating. I am going thru the same thing and this is a problem for me but it seems as if i did all i can do. I even called dell support and they helped me remove any and everything that had to do with quicktime on my computer and i still get the error message that i cannot remove the old version but there is not a old version on my computer hard drive at all because dell removed it all so i don't know what's going on but if you find out please let me know.
thanks

  • How can I uninstall Quicktime Pro 7.4.5 and then install on a new system?

    Hi,
How can I uninstall Quicktime Pro 7.4.5 and then install on a new system?
I've got a new computer and I want to uninstall Quicktime Pro 7.4.5 and then install on the new system. Maybe I'm overlooking something, but a bunch of other applications have easy 'uninstall' functions right in the application toolbar. Why doesn't Quicktime?????
    Thanks.

I've read that Q/T is not just a simple application but in reality, a major component of the OS. This is where it varies from other similar acting apps like WMV, AVI, FLV etc. To butress this statement, in a vague way, I remember seeing a graphic of the Mac OS when Apple was first pushing "X". QuickTime was in the same general area of depth in programming as UNIX.
So, you might not want to delete all of QuickTime just the Reg Key which should/could/might put you back to the non Q/T Pro functionality and thence legal to install on another machine.
Just be certain that the version on the new machine is the same as on the old machine or expect to buy a new $30 key.
    Cheers-
    Mark

  • How can I uninstall JVM completely?

I would like to uninstall JVM completely for testing an application. So I've removed the JDK (j2sdk1.4.1_03) in the add/remove programs.
How can I check the JVM does not exist in the computer? I've done steps 1 & 2 to check it. Is that enough?
    1. In control Panel, I could not find the Java Plug-in Icon.
    2. In IE->Tools->Internet Options->Advanced, I cannot find the Sun Java option.
Does it mean that I completely removed JVM?

  • How can I uninstall Quicktime to install an earlier version?

I am using Adobe Premiere on 10.3.9 and I have had a ton of problems each time I upgrade anything, including Quicktime - Apparently, the optimum version of quicktime to run Premiere is 6.5.2 - -
I have trashed everything that says quicktime from every drive, but still, when I go to install quicktime 6.5.2 the installer will not let me choose my start up disk because it says there is a newer version already on it... What am I missing here? Am I going to have to erase the entire disk and re-install every bit of software?
    Help, please!

None of the uninstallers worked. I would always get messages saying that I had a newer version of quicktime installed no matter what I did. I dragged everything I could find on the drive (on every volume in the computer) to the trash and dumped it all - got the same message -= I finally just backed up all my files and erased the disk and reinstalled the entire operating system starting with OS 9 . - that was the only thing that worked for me.

    Any ideas?

    Any ideas?
If you don't want to use the dedicated QT 7 Pro Player GUI, simply delete the QT 7 Player app. (You cannot uninstall the QT 7/X structure itself as it is now an integral part of the Mac OS X operating system.)

  • How do I uninstall PSE completely so I can install on a new computer?

How do I uninstall PSE completely so I can install on a new computer?

First go to Editor>Help>Deactivate. That's really the only thing you have to do if you've used both of your two installations already. If you want to uninstall PSE, then do it via Control Panel in Windows, or on a Mac use the uninstaller in the PSE  folder in Applications.
If you have a version of PSE prior to PSE 8, no need to deactivate unless you bought a serial number for the trial via the Buy It Now button in PSE. Otherwise there's no activation on earlier versions.

  • How can I uninstall iDVD '08 and install iDVD '06?

There's a reported bug among iDVD '08 users where burning
large projects are resulting in audio synch problems near the
    end of the burned DVD.
In other words, the audio slowly goes out of synch towards the
    end of burned projects.
This is a problem inherent with 'DVD '08.
I tried uninstalling iDVD '08 and replacing with '06 but it doesn't
work. You try that and iDVD will not launch at all.
Even tried to partition my drive and install iLife '06 to the partition
but the system will not let me.
Anyone have a solution how to completely uninstall iLife '08
    components and install iLife '06?
    Thanks

I upgraded to iLife 08 from 06 (bad move). I couldn't install iMovie because my Mac is too old (must be Intel-based or comparable). iDVD didn't work--the document window was always black, even with a theme selected. The Virtual Band function in GarageBand did nothing whatsoever. I trashed the '08 applications, moved all Preferences files to my desktop, reinstalled iLife '06. Now, iDVD won't launch--just flashes the menu bar and exits back to the Finder. So, I have several DVD projects on my system that I cannot finish because I cannot reinstall iLife '06 (like the originator of this problem, "How can I uninstall iDVD '08 and install iDVD '06?") I hope someone has an answer as this is frustrating and costly to my small business.

  • My mac keeps freezing...How can I uninstall lion?

My mac keeps freezing on me, particularly when Im on safari. The most annoying part is that it happens three or four times in a matter of an hour, and then Im prompted to submit a report that feels like a joke considering that we have yet to see an update for lion solving this issue, and the problem persists. How can I uninstall lion and get macs previous iOS back?

    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • How can I uninstall Lion?

I'm getting a window saying the installation has failed, that I should reinstall Lion.  How can I uninstall it?

And this link for How to create Lion Recovery Drive just went MIA / "404"

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
You can also use the OS X Lion installer from the Mac App Store to create an external bootable drive, complete with a Recovery HD partition. See this article for more details. This approach will, at least, create a bootable drive with Recovery HD which you can carry with you in case you need to use Internet Restore or make use of the other utilities Recovery HD provides.

  • How can I uninstall Bootcamp and Recover the partition for the Mac HD

How can I uninstall Bootcamp and recover the partition for the IMac HD?

Boot into OSX.  Go back into the Bootcamp utility in the Utilities folder and re-run it.  It will give you the option to remove the Windows partition and make the OSX partition fill the whole drive again.  OSX will NOT be lost in the process.  No re-installing necessary.  Only takes a few minutes or less to complete.

  • HELP! - can't uninstall Quicktime!! Error - 0x80040707 !!

I can't uninstall quicktime and get the following error -
Error 0x80040707 Description DLL function call crashed QTInstallCode.QuickTimeUnInstallProc
    Can anyone help??

    hiya!
okay, in this context the 0x80040707 (citing the QuickTimeUnInstallProc) usually indicates that the installation configuration information for the QT on your PC has been corrupted.
download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility, and use it to clear away any existing QuickTime installation configuration information:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
... and then use the QuickTime component of the complete uninstall instructions on the following document as a guide for manual removal of left-over QT program files and folders:
Trouble installing iPod, iTunes, or QuickTime software in Windows
once we've got the old QT scraped out of there, we'll try another standalone QT 7.0.4 install, taking a few additional explicit precautions.
download and save a copy of the standalone QT installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off all antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.0.4 Standalone Installer
does that install go through okay?
if it does go through okay, does your itunes launch again?
    love, b

  • How do I uninstall Quicktime 7?

Wow, Quicktime 7 is terrible, and it unregistered my QT6 Pro key. How do I uninstall Quicktime 7 and go back to QT6?

What you CAN do is to get a copy of the Quicktime Player.app file from QuickTime 6.5 (ONLY THE APP FILE, NOT ANY OF THE FRAMEWORKS!) and install that on your machine. Be sure to give it a unique name (such as "Quicktime Player 6.app"). You can open the prefs on that and enable the pro features in QuickTime 6, but not in QuickTime 7, using your QT-6 registration code. QT-6 will then be running on the QT-7 framework. It does seem to work in Tiger; I don't have Leopard to test it with, but thanks to some BUGS! in QT-7, this is the configuration I have to use for a CATV video playback channel application I am working on.
Thanks to Quicktime Kirk for pointing out that this is possible. Sorry, you're on your own to find a working copy of the QuickTime 6.5.3 app. Note that you need ONLY the application package; everything else on your system should remain QT-7.

  • How can I uninstall darwinports from my System ?

I install darwinports for 2 month ago, how can I uninstall this darwinports completely ? Or Just delete the folder named /opt/local/* ?

    Hi Qian,
To completely remove DarwinPorts, you do indeed need to delete /opt/*. You should also delete /Library/Tcl/darwinports1.0 and also check to see if you have a folder called DarwinPortsStartup in /Library/StartupItems... if you find it, delete that too.
That should totally rid your system of DP. Keep in mind that it will also remove all of the software that you installed using DP.
    Hope that helps,
    Deegan
