i used to belong in United States and also used iphone4 at at&t. i did not know the country lock before i flighted to foreign country. One of my friend asked me about the country lock i had to have country unlock if i using this iphone from U.S to other country. So my question is how to do country unlock ?

You can't. Only the carrier it's locked to can authorize unlocking it. AT&T will NOT do so under any circumstances.
Sell it and buy one you can use.

- Ensure that you're out of contract. If you're still in contract then you may have to pay cancellation fees.

The sim card slot/GSM portion of your phone should not be locked. From iPhone 4s upwards on the Verizon phone, the gsm portion of the phone should be unlocked out of the box so you should be able to use your phone with a local South Korean gsm carrier, just not cdma any longer.
If it is not, then you'll need to contact Verizon directly to get them to unlock it.

Sprint will only unlock the device for use with GSM carriers outside the US.
If you want an iPhone to use on T-Mobile, buy one designed to work on their network.

I spoke with a genius at the montreal Apple Store, I asked about unlocks as I am moving to the states for work in the coming month. He mentioned that while carriers generally have to dot he unlocks they have unlocked international phones. My question is has anyone tried to dot his from Canada to the US. Also If you are still under warrenty and get a refurbished one in the US, at what point does it lock to your existing carrier. I was always confused as to how this works.Im sure there a lot of people who are wondering the same thing.

Unlock can be done only by original Carrier. You should get
this straightened out before leaving Canada. Warranty on your
iPhone is not international - if you need any repair or replacement,
you will have to return iPhone to Canada for this to be done.

Hello, I brought an iphone5 several weeks ago from a friend and I've heard that the iPhone 5 from verizon is already unlocked. I would like to connect it with T-mobile. What you need to understand first is that the Verizon iPhone is a CDMA phone and does not require a sim card to work on the Verizon network. Yes the phone is unlocked, but only the GSM part of the phone is unlocked so that you can insert local sim cards when you travel.
Unfortunately, if you want to use this phone in the US, you WILL NOT be able to use it on T-Mobile, as being a Verizon phone it will only connect with the Verizon CDMA network. If you want to use the phone in the US, then you'll have to use it on the Verizon network.
If you want to use T-Mobile, then perhaps think about selling this phone and buying a new phone that is unlocked and a GSM phone so that you can use it with T-Mobile without problems.
