You can not have software installed in your Macbook that is not purchased or registered by yourself.

cant update apps on my mac or iphone4. asks for password for another account i had on a dell notebook. either i forgot the pass word or its not taking it  . i can download apps and music.  how can i update apps on my mac and iphone 4?

I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first.

  • HT2731 How can I update apps when the screen just goes blank?

How can I update apps on my iPad my screen is just blank. My phone updates fine.

There are a number of other threads from people reporting a problem with a blank Updates tab in the App Store app on their iPads - it looks like there is a problem at Apple's end which they need to fix.
Some posts are suggesting that you if you go into the Purchased tab in the App Store app you might be able to update the apps from there, though you will need to scroll through the list (potentially going through the A to Z list on the left-hand side of the screen, and similarly tapping the 'iPad Apps' button at the top left of the screen and selecting 'iPhone Apps') to find those with updates and individually update them.

You need to delete and redownload them to do that. This may require repurchasing paid ones.

  • How can I transfer apps from one iTunes library to another?

How can I transfer apps from one iTunes library to another? My daughter has an iTouch, and I was managing it through my library. I have created an iTunes account for her, with a new iTouch, and would like to move the apps over. I tried to sync the old iTouch to the new library and it said it was already set up to sync with a different library. What is the best way to do this?

You can transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
To make the new computer the syncing computer you have to:
    - Transfer iTunes purchases lIke I described above
    - Make a backup of the iPod on that computer by connecting the iPod and then right-clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Back Up.
    - Restore the iPOd from that backup
She will have to continue to use your iTunes ID to update the apps prchased with your account. To use her account she will have to log into the computer with her account (iTunes>Store) and change the sign in on the iPod by going to Settings>Store.

  • How can I update iWork using the Mac app store?

I bought iWork on DVD but would like to get the updates via the Mac app store. How can I do that?

    HI Judy...
You can only update software from the Mac App Store if the that is where it was purchsed and downloaded from.
Since you installed from the DVD, your updates should be available from your Apple menu > Software Update.

  • Mavericks: Sys Prefs:"Security" pane:"Privacy" tab: how can I identify apps controlling my Mac ?

In the Mavericks: System Preferences:"Security" pane:"Privacy" tab:"Accessability" window -- how can I identify the 'paths' of apps that are allowed to control my Mac ?
I currently have two apps named "Installer" , and I can't know where they are located, on my filesystem , so I don't know whether-or-not to uncheck their boxes !
I have an Apple Support document, but it doesn't answer my issue:
OS X: Using AppleScript with Accessibility and Security features in Mavericks

If you have third party download and or installer software applications that you continue to use, then do not uncheck those items in Accessibility and Security in Mavericks. They are used to control your downloads  but if you are finished with the software uncheck and  said items.  Remember you can always recheck them anytime.

  • How can I download apps I have already purchased to another iPad? When I try to do this the owner's ID pops up in the login window. Yesterday it gave me the option to use another ID, now it isn't dong that?

How can I share my apps? In other words transfer apps to someone else's iPad. It worked yesterday

Apps cannot be transfered from one account (AppleID) to another. Also, once you sign off of an ID on a device and add another, the previous ID cannot be used on that device for a period of time (90 days, I think?).
If you don't want this user to have access to everything on your AppleID, what you are trying to do is a bad idea.

  • How can I transfer apps purchased from one AppleId to another due to breach of account?

Due to a recent security breach not if my doing a user stole my apple id and needed to change appleid account.  Now as a result i've lost all purchased apps from the itune store. I would like to transfer apps from one apple id to another without incurring additional costs.  With sufficient information in direct contact with the store I should be able to transferable within the software or at very least with the itune store direct.  Perhaps this is a way of charging additional costs for same programs?
Not a happy camper because of the theft in id but now to add insult to injury i'll have to repurchase the apps to properly sync with my devices.
    Any help would be appreciated

You can't transfer iTunes content from one account to another. If someone had obtained access to your account credentials and you've had the account locked that should not affect the current authorizations on your computer, though it will prevent you from updating apps until you have resolved the issue. Rather than creating a new AppleID what you should do is regain control of your original Apple ID and have it reenabled with a new password, get, if possible, Apple to deauthorize all computers for your account (assuming you don't have 5 so can't do it yourself) then authorize your computers.

  • Hi! how can i update or upgrade my mac 10.5.8

how to update or update my mac 10.5.8 ?please

You would have to start by upgrading to Snow Leopard, which you can purchase from the Online Apple Store. Check that your Mac meets the requirements before purchasing (basically an Intel processor and minimum 1GB RAM).
Then use Software Update to bring it up to 10.6.8 so that you have access to the Mac App Store (in Applications).
If you Mac can handle Yosemite you can download it for free from the Mac App Store. If it can't you may be able to go to Lion, which is available for purchase in the Online Apple Store.
Note that if you upgrade beyond Snow Leopard, PPC programs such as AppleWorks will not run.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
The requirements for Mountain Lion and Yosemite are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
      and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)

  • How can i update apps purchased on an old apple id

Ok, so for about 4 years I have been using my husbands apple id on my Mac and iPhone...now with Family Sharing I'm trying to switch both my Mac and iPhone over to my apple id.  The problem is that the apps that were bought with my husbands id will not update on either of my devices.  What's up, I thought the Family Sharing meant that I could download purchased apps from his account.  Ideas?

Apparently I have some songs in my iTunes library that I purchased with an old Apple ID.
You should have simply updated your AppleID rather than creating a new one.
They won't play on my new computer, because they're not authorized to. But that old ID is connected to an email address that doesn't even exist anymore? I have no idea what the password was.
