How can I update iTunes on my ipad?

I am unable to sync my iPad with iTunes on my lap top.
The warning reads:
'The ipad "xxxx's ipad' can not be used because it requires iTunes version 11.1 or later. Go to www.iTunes.com/uk to download the latest version of iTunes'
but when I go to iTunes.com/uk it redirects to apple.com and I can not find a link to update iTunes for an ipad anywhere.
If I'm being dense I apologise - please someone help!
Thanks

Correct. The iTunes App on an iDevice is not the same as the iTunes Application for a Computer.
The message you are getting relates to Updating iTunes on your computer not your iPad.
What type of computer do you have...?
If a Mac...
Click on the Apple icon.. Top left in Finder...
 > About this Mac > Version...what does it say?
If it says OS X 10.5.8... you have Leopard. If that is the case, you need to Upgrade to Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.x
You will then be able to Install iTunes version 11 to Sync your Device.
Upgrading to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
Snow Leopard Tech Specs
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Other countries...
http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard and iTunes.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...

Which OS X version is your Mac running?
If you have used Software Update on your Mac or tried to update iTunes only direct from iTunes on your Mac and you are notified there isn't an update available, this means your Mac is running an OS X version that is not supported for iTunes 10.7 or later. The current OS X version is 11.0.2.

Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer or backup of the old computer to the new computer.

  • HT4972 Can I update iTunes on my iPad 2 through wifi?

I am trying to get to the iOS5/6, but it says I need to update my iTunes.

That doesn't make sense. You don't need to update iTunes - nor can you even update iTunes on your iPad. iTunes on the iPad is only updated when Apple releases an new or updated iOS as iTunes is included as part of the update.
Furthermore it makes no sense that you would have to update iTunes on the computer in order to update the iPad via WiFi. If you are updating via WiFi, you don't need iTunes.
However, you may need to update iTunes on your computer in order to use the iPad with the computer - and then update the iPad using iTunes. So update iTunes on your PC first. Then try to update the iPad via iTunes. After yo update the iPad this time, you will be able to update OTA via Wifi from the iPad settings. Settings>General>Software Update.

How can I update the iTunes on my iPhone, so I can synchronize the Phone to my computer?

iTunes is not on the iPhone. The iPhone includes an iPod.
iTunes needs to be updated on your Mac and your Mac needs to be running OS X 10.5.8 or later in order to install the iTunes update required.

  • How/can I update itunes library from ipod

I had a previous version of iTunes on a work PC, which I had copied my entire CD collection onto. I have since moved companies and hence lost the laptop. I(maybe stupidly) assumed that I could update the iTunes library from the iPod.
Having searched the support pages, the only way that I can tell to do this was to export the library in the first place, which I did not do. Also iTunes seems to want to delete everything from my iPod everytime I try to do anything?!?
I really want to avoid spending every evening for another week downloading all the albums again, so any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Thanks
    Mark

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended (as previously mentioned) is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.

  • HT4623 How can I update iOS 5 on iPad 2?

I want to update iOS 5 on my iPad2 and I've read the article about it. There was written go in settings>general>software update in my ipad2 there isn't such button "Software Update" there is only "about" and "usage" so, what can I do?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

  • HT5457 How can I update iTunes?

My IPAD keeps crashing while on Safari, Google, in an app, and it is annoying.  Some apps will not download while in the app before it crashes.  I contacted a customer service rep of the iTunes Store, and he said I would need to Update my iTunes first then update my IPAD from IOS 5.1.1 to IOS 6.  I uninstalled iTunes then installed it again. Then went to Settings, - General  - Software update - and when it checks for updates it states it is updated to current of IOS 5.1.1. I connected my IPAD to my PC.  I have Windows 8, and 19.4 GB of memory free.    What should I do now?  Thank you.

The iPad 1 simply can't handle iOS6. There isn't enough memory when you factor everything in..
But there is enough memory on iPhone 3GS that predates iPad 1 by many months? Sounds difficult to believe.
In most of the Mac related places I go on, I haven't heard very nice things about iPad 1st gen and iOS 5 in general. Most people have stuck to iOS 4 instead.
They've got to be kidding. iOS 5 is great, a seminal, must-do upgrade.* It introduced iCloud, finally allowing us to forget about iTunes and the USB cable once and for all; a landmark. iOS 5 runs reasonably well on my iPad 1, although the device does suffer from a lack of operating memory especially.
    * and I'm not an upgrade freak, sticking with iOS 5 on all my iDevices so far

  • How can I update iTunes 11.1.2?

I recently bought an iPhone 5c and I plugged in my phone to sync with my iTunes library.
However, I had not installed the latest update yet and my computer notified me that I must have the latest update (11.1.2) to sync my new device.
So I attempted to update it several times only to recieve an error message:
"Errors occured while installing the updates. If the problem persists, choose Tools > Download Only and try installing manually.
I tried going into my program files and setting my iTunes folder NOT read-only.
I tried going online and downloading the latest iTunes installer.
I tried updating multiple times and nothing is working.
I just want to get the latest version of iTunes so I can sync my new iPhone.
This is too frustrating. Please help!

The later iOSs requires at least OSX 10.5.8 for the Mac.  You need iTunes 10.5 but 10.4.11 only goes to 9.x.. 10.5.8 is a paid upgrade.
Are you sure that you have a 3G iPod?  If it is 8 or 16 GB it is a 2G and those can only go to 4.2.1 (also requires 10.5.8 or later). A 32 GB can be either  2G or 3G. To identify yours:
