How can I update my iPod classic that will not mount on iMac computer?
I can't update my iPod classic from my iTunes on my iMac computer with OSX 10.9. It will not mount or be recognized by iTunes version 12.1.
I plug it into the USB port and it charges, gives the "Do not disconnect" symbol but the computer does not recognize or mount the iPod at all. I haven't been able to update the music for years. I have four other devices associated with my Apple ID for automatic downloads. Is it too antiquated to upload any of my music from my computer to it anymore?

I went thru the console and read the error logs. It appears that the .ipsw file does load.....I think. It's been years since I spoke computer....
Here is what I got after double clicking the .ipsw file and iTunes opened:

I have an iPad mini that will not respond and is non functional. It continues to intermittently try to automatically restart, access home page without success. It will not accept normal charge. i purchased an older ipod classic, my cousin bought it for me for my b day. he even put songs on it from his computer for me. it gave him no issues. but my new mac book pro does not recognize it. it does not show up on the computer or on itunes. i don't know what to do! it shows up on all my cousin's computers but mine. i feel like mine must be missing a file that allows my mac to see it. when i connect it to my mac it says the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.

Follow these steps to resolve your issue:
If you haven't connected your iOS device to this computer before, unlock the device and tap Trust. Learn more about the Trust This Computer alert.
Restart your iOS device.
Restart your Mac.
Make sure that your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Install software updates on your Mac.
If an iTunes update is available, apply the update.
Check USB connections. iOS devices need USB 2.0 to work properly. If you're not sure your Mac has USB 2.0 ports, check the computer's specifications.
Disconnect other USB devices and connect your device directly to a USB port on your Mac.
Try another USB cable.

I have a 6th gen ipod classic that will not turn on...
So,
As the title says that is what I have, however, here are more specifics and what I have done so far...
The ipod will not power on. When I try to turn it on, the logo appears, then it seems to power cycle. Now, onto what I have tried thus far...
I have tried the reset using the menu/center button combos several times and it just does the same thing. I have also tried to plug it into my windows 7 pc, and utilizing Itunes "restore" it. I will quickly back up and state that when I plug it in, Itunes will recognize that it is an Ipod, and display a msg saying that an ipod is plugged in that may be corrupted, please restore it. After I click the "restore" button, itunes will start to extract the s/w to restore it, then an error msg pops up and says "unknown error - 1415" - "unknown error - 1439". Now, I will say that when I plug it in and try to restore it, the first time around it gives me the 1439 code. Subsequently, it will give me the 1415 error if I try to repeat the process. I will unplug it and try again, and the same exact pattern occurs, 1439 on first attempt after plugging into itunes, and then 1415 subsequently. I have read several other forums to no avail possible solutions.
At this point, Im feeling like the only option left is to pay a visit to my local apple store. BUT, before I do that I wanted to see if any experts might have a solution for me here! PLEASE HELP! Im using my shuffle right now, but I really want to get this classic running again! I do have screenshots of all my errors and what itunes shows me in case anyone might want that stuff. In any case, I digress...Thank you Bilbo! I was trying to find the instructions on how to do this, but was unable to locate them until you pointed me to it!

I have a sunBlade 6450 that was originally recognized by ops center 11 as solaris, we rebuilt the blade with Vmware Vsphere, and Opscenter still sees it as solaris..

How can I update a push notification that's not on my settings under notifications?
I am trying to turn on notifications in the Starbucks app, so in the app I go to settings then when I select Starbucks Notifications it gives an error message that reads..."You currently have Push Notifications turned off. Please update your device Settings." but when I go into into my phone Settings no where is the Starbucks app listed anywhere. Not in "In Notification Center" or "Not In Notification Center". How am I supposed to update the device settings if I don't see it anywhere??? Thanks.

How can i delete a corrupted file that will not download?
I recently purchased a song on itunes and i keep getting a message that tells me to try redownloading due to the song being a corrupt file. When i attempt to redownload the song, i get another error message that tells me the download could not be completed. At this point i just want to delete the download, but since it was never actually downloaded it wont go away. Everytime i open my itunes i get the error message and it continues to pop up every ten minutes. Please help!
Highlight the said file on the Music section of your Library, and press the Backspace key. When asked whether you want to move to the trash, say yes. Then you may download it again looking in Your Account in the purchased section.

What does error -3259 mean? How can i update my ipod touch to the new ios 5?
I been updating my ipod touch 4 software to the new ios 5 all day. i tried disabling my security programs and firewall, different download programs and reinstalling iTunes, and restarting my ipod touch. But for each attempt i get a different error. i went to the Specific update and restore errror code page and got a reason for each error except for error -3259. Basically my question is: 1. How can i update my ipod software to io5 and 2. What is the reason behind error -3259?
Connect it to iTunes on a computer and update it from there. Note that the second generation iPod touch(which includes 8GB models sold at the same time as the third generation ones) can't be updated past 4.2.1.

Please help!Was your iPod previously set up to Manually Manage (where you dragged/dropped the music) or was it set to auto sync (where it started sycning as soon as you plugged it in.)?
If it was set to Manual, you have no worries. Just continue on your way.
If it was set to Auto, you will have to transfer your purchases or redownload them from the iTunes store.
You're either going to have to get the other music back from the websites/CDs you got them from before or find an iPod ripping software program that will do it for you. -

To make sure the file system is closed properly iPod classics should be ejected from the iTunes interface, or if iTunes isn't running, using the "Safely remove hardware" tool. That message is a standard warning. If the device shows up in iTunes you can configure the selection of media content that you want to sync to it and press the sync button to start the process. iTunes may spend quite a long time "thinking" before any tracks are copied over.

When i try to update the software for my 3rd Gen iPod Touch to version 5 i get the message 'This version of iTunes (9.2.1) is the current version'. My Mac OS is 10.4.11. How can I update the iPod software?
The later iOSs requires at least OSX 10.5.8 for the Mac. You need iTunes 10.5 but 10.4.11 only goes to 9.x.. 10.5.8 is a paid upgrade.
Are you sure that you have a 3G iPod? If it is 8 or 16 GB it is a 2G and those can only go to 4.2.1 (also requires 10.5.8 or later). A 32 GB can be either 2G or 3G. To identify yours:

How can I play my ipod classic 30 G thru my home stereo system? The guy at Radio Shack sold me an adapter for the older, larger headphone adapter on my stereo receiver with an ipod attachment on the other end. It doesn't work. Do I need to make special settings on the ipod? Should it work? I read elsewhere that I need a Y connector. Thanks for any help.
The headphone jak on your stereo is an output, not an input. You cannot route music into your stereo throughthe headphone jack.
