How can I update my iPod on a new laptop?

So, iOS 5 is finally out next week.
I would like to upgrade to it, however since my old laptop is broke I use my mums laptop for iTunes. How can I update my system without apps beinf rid of? Last time I did it, my apps remaines intact, but I don't know how I did this.

How can I authorize my iPod on a new laptop when the email address has changed?

I had another laptop when I signed on with an account for my iPod nano. The IP address changed only for commercial use. I now have another laptop and registered with my new email address. However, when I try to move my music and podcasts it brings up my old email address. I don't want to lose all of the music and podcasts I bought. I been updating my ipod touch 4 software to the new ios 5 all day. i tried disabling my security programs and firewall, different download programs and reinstalling iTunes, and restarting my ipod touch. But for each attempt i get a different error. i went to the Specific update and restore errror code page and got a reason for each error except for error -3259. Basically my question is: 1. How can i update my ipod software to io5 and 2. What is the reason behind error -3259?

Connect it to iTunes on a computer and update it from there. Note that the second generation iPod touch(which includes 8GB models sold at the same time as the third generation ones) can't be updated past 4.2.1.

The later iOSs requires at least OSX 10.5.8 for the Mac. You need iTunes 10.5 but 10.4.11 only goes to 9.x.. 10.5.8 is a paid upgrade.
Are you sure that you have a 3G iPod? If it is 8 or 16 GB it is a 2G and those can only go to 4.2.1 (also requires 10.5.8 or later). A 32 GB can be either 2G or 3G. To identify yours:

You cannot use someone else's apps without violating the license agreement. The apps are tied to the owner (via Apple ID). The right thing to do would be to update and start fresh.
