How can I use an iCloud email alias in Mailbox or other third party mail apps?

I have an iCloud email address, but prefer to use one of my aliases for sending messages. Third-party email clients like Mailbox don't seem to recognize these aliases. Has anyone had luck here, or are iCloud aliases Mail.app-only animals?

Mailboxes will handle aliases in Gmail, but not iCloud (no idea if that is in the works or not). Boxer makes no mention of aliases specifically for iCloud, but does support them in general. I prefer Mailbox, but Boxer is a decent app.

If I try to setup my iCloud email address in iPhoto it wants me to log in with the email itself when the email address is registered with my Apple ID which is not the @me.com. If I try to setup the iCloud account with my Apple ID it sets up that email account.

Unfortunately it is not possible to change your primary mac.com or me.com email address for iCloud (See also Apple's FAQ: @mac.com and @me.com Apple IDs cannot be renamed), but you could stop using this account and create a new one.
Another option would be to create up to three email alises for your current primary email address.
Try this to create a new alias for your me.com address:
Open the web interface of iCloud "www.icloud.com" with Safari
Log in
Open "Mail"
Open "Preferences" (by clicking on the little button in the upper right corner)
Go to "Accounts"
Click on "Add an alias" (it would be another me.com address, you can not create new mac.com addresses since MobileMe was launched)

By the way: If you want to set up iCloud on your Mac you need Lion or Mountain Lion.

If I am understanding you correctly, it sounds like your daughter may have set up an alias account under iCloud. Your AppleID email address may or may not be the same as you iCloud email address, depending on how it was set up. I don't really understand iCloud, but I have an Apple ID since both my kids are underage (8 and 11). They share my Apple ID, but have different Ipods. Can/Should I have separate iCloud emails for them? To recap, I have 1 Apple account, but have 2 kids, a boy and a girl. To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted. If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

That's Activation Lock. You will need to remember the Apple ID and password you used to set up the phone.
If you can't remember them, you can go to iforgot.apple.com to try to recover the information.
If you are the original owner of the phone & have proof of purchase, you can try calling Apple to see if they can assist also.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.
