How can I use an old Mac as a monitor for a Mini?
My sister has an old iMac, circa 2006, that can no longer be updated, so she's considering getting a Mini and somehow using the old iMac as a monitor. Is this possible? I found a very old post that referred to ScreenRecycler, but this appears to be a defunct or out of date product. She has a wifi network, so I'm wondering if that can be used, both for initial setup of the Mini and for normal use, or if an ethernet connection is preferable.

Have you migrated your MobileMe account to iCloud? If not you should go to http://me.com and do so as a matter of urgency as we don't know for how much longer this will be possible.
That done, sign into System Preferences>iCloud with the @mac.com address and enable Mail etc. in the checklist. -

SoniaIt would help to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.

View Solution.You know, this is just a thought. I'm not sure the differences between the iq526 and iq770, but as I was looking around I found this article. I don't know if it'll help, but you might want to take a look. Evidently someone figured out how to use the HP touchsmart as an external monitor for his Dell laptop.
