Are you saying the fax features no longer work in Mountain Lion? That would surprise me; I wouldn't think Apple would have done non-backward-compatible changes to the built-in drivers.
First thing I'd try is to redo the stylus setup: connect it by usb (if it's not already so connected) and run through the setup procedure. you might also try downloading the OS X drivers from the Epson website; they claim it should work on 10.3+

I have a windows PC and a Macbook Air and a 1TB external hard drive. They said in order to transfer large files into the hard drive you have to change the format of your hard drive (which would be from MS-DOS to Mac Os extended) so how can I use my external hard drive on my windows PC without reformatting its files? Natively Windows can read and write to NTFS, FAT32, and exFAT while the Mac can read and write to FAT32, exFAT, and MacOS Extended.
Option 1: You can purchase driver software for Windows to allow it to read and write Mac's MacOS Extended or you can purchase a driver to allow the Mac to read and write to NTFS.
Option 2: you can format the hard drive for exFAT and use it with both Windows and the Mac without purchasing any special drivers. (Obviously the 4GB file size limit is why you don't want to use FAT32) -
(How) Can I use Existing Time Machine On New Mac Without Erasing Original TM Backups?
I just got through doing a clean install from Mavericks to Yosemite and now I'm trying to attach and recognize the original Time Machine Drive (TMD)
I chose to install as a new computer and did not choose a Time Machine backup option because the original TMD was not attached at the time of installation.
Upon arriving at the desktop and connecting my original TMD, I was able to see it in finder but Time Machine did not automatically accept it.
I am able to see the disk in Time Machine but it doesn't tell me that its got data on it .
HERE'S THE ANXIOUS MOMENT: If I select TMD, which is the original, will it overwrite all that orignal information, or will it continue adding to it?
I've read under different parts of the forum that if you go through this process during the original setup and the Time Machine drive is attached to the computer then you will be prompted to inherit the old Time Machine. Since I didn't have the drive attached, I didn't see that.
Now back to desktop and into the Time Machine utility: This option to inherit doesn't seem to exist or is obvious. The only option after selecting the drive in Time Machine is "Use Disk". If I click this, will it erase my original data or will it ask to inherit the drive? It's not very clear what will happen after I click "Use Disk".

It seems like I got quite a few levels into Migration assistant and the last click that I did not click seemed like it was good to start the process without telling me anything about inheriting anything.
Any suggestions or did I not go far enough?

How can I use an SSD in a 2006 Mac Pro 1,1 2.66Ghz

I'm trying to work out how to use my new SSD in an old 2006 MacPro. Bear with me, I'm not an expert and trying to work out what is best for me.
I recently bought a 1TB Samsung SSD 840EVO to use in my old Mac Pro, not to use as my main machine, but as a network slave to save RAM with sound sample libraries.
I also got an Apricorn SATA III Velocity Solo x2 - Extreme Performance SSD Upgrade Kit to get high speeds

After installing the HD using the SATAIII connector in a PCIe slot, I did a hard drive test and realised I could only get about 160mbps, not 300-500mpbs which I think the SSD should run at. I had my friend test it on his machine too, and we realised the problem is the "Link Width" which says "x1" and not "x4" or something, so that the speed isn't running at full speed.
So apparently it's not compatable.
Apparently what I CAN do is install it in a regular Hard Drive bay with a sled, which will be SATA II ... will that work?

Any advice would be great- thanks!!!SATA II is generally just fine, no fuss no muss, for the system. Using PCIe to boot adds problems and most if not all such PCIe SSD cards do NOT WORK in 32-bit Mac Pro 1,1 and 2,1 (and the 3,1 is also sometimes difficult with some cards).
Data uses though are useful, work, and benefit. Lightroom, Aperture, scratch, even iPhoto - all those graphic libraries.
I would rewrite and make it "will the native SATA II drive bays" work, and the answer to that is YES. But not faster.
You have a 4x and 8x slot, so one of those is fine.
It is the reads and zero latency seeks along with queue depth and high 90K IOs per sec that help an SSD shine.
Putting a 250GB or 500GB EVO 840 is the easiest and best return on system improvement you can make for $120-240 (plus $14 for Icy Dock adapter).
Even the 2008 has two 4x PCIe 1.1 slots. The 2009 has PCIe 4x 2.1 slots that share bandwidth and cap out (only learned from stripping SSDs using two PCIe cards and 2-4 SSDs), so they aren't perfect either! ONLY the 5,1 really has the best PCIe design and setup.
Sonnet only supports or recommends their Tempo Pro which is what I bought, so I don't know off hand how well yours works and if it even will. Some cards do require EFI 64-bit, AND 10.8.x or later, and maybe even PCIe 2.0 - but only to work, ie they don't work or not supported in PCIe 1.0... but NOT about the bandwidth.
Booting in 10 seconds is nice. Launching a full dozen apps in 10 seconds (and ready to use) also. Only larger program suites takes 20 seconds now.
250MB/sec is nothing to sneeze at when it comes to boot drive SSD. -

FCE 3.0 was not designed to work with Intel based Macs when they were introduced years ago so you have no chance with a modern Mac.
You must upgrade to FCE 4 unless you want to move onto Final Cut Pro X which is designed to be used with the latest technology.
Final Cut Studio 3 will also work OK. -

HI. I have got this lovely machine out of storage. Guess its about 7 yrs old ( my other canon printer black ink wont work) and I cannot find a driver for the operating system on my macbook. The disc wont work and there are no drivers via HP nor Apple. It is not supported any longer and I have had to give up trying to find it. I have an old mac and once I find the cable for it perhaps its older OS will work with it. But then any work I move onto this old mac with my thumbdrive will be on either MS word , word text or adobe pdfs and jpegs that were created on my new mac and might not open with older word adobe etc on the old mac! I have not tried it yet. Do I buy a cheap £7 round pin cable and give it a go or sell this lovely old printer on gumtree?! I have about 8 ink cartridges for it that I could use or sell too! Advice welcome. In the meantime I have a cheap printer head in the mail for my Canon and hope that works too!! Hate waste and just had to dump various older home office machines that would not sell!! How can I use Adobe Illustrator 10 on my Mac OS X?
I am given a message that it is "unsupported" when I try to utilize the software I had purchased a long time ago but never used on my old Mac.
It could be a compatability issue between that PowerPC based application and the later Intel macs. You'd have to either install an OS compatable with Illustrator 10 on a separate partition on your HD. There's a risk that that would not be possible because MacIntel will not recognize that installer. Another option is get a refurbished PowerPC machine with OSX10.4.11 is installed. Some good vendors online with machines from that era.

Thanks a lot!!Positive feedback? Then please take this in a positive way: if you want to work on persisting Java objects into XML, then GUI programming is irrelevant to that goal. The 1,000 lines of code you posted there appeared to me to have a whole lot of GUI code in it. You should produce a smaller (much smaller) example of what you want to do. Calling the working code from your GUI program should come later.

Alternatives?
1) Run a Windows client on the Mac using Boot Camp or one of the available virtualization programs like Parallels, VMware Fusion, and others so you can run the latest Windows print/fax/scan driver.
2) If your Mac hardware supports an older OS X version, downgrade to one (Snow Leopard?) that still had support for print, fax and scan.
3) Buy a newer printer. A 2007 model is 5+ years old, and should now be fully depreciated in a business. -
How can I use 2 Apple IDs in Itunes? I have 2 IOS Devices. They each have there own AppleID. What is the proper way to sync both of them to Itunes? I wanted my teenager's AppleID to be different from mine so that she couldn't charge stuff to my AppleID, therefore I created me another one. Now when I go to Sync either device, it tells me that this IOS device can only be synced with one AppleID. Then I get a message to erase it, not going to do that, lol. If I logout as one ID and login as the other, will it still retain all synced information on the PC from the first IOS device? If I can just log in out of the AppleID, then I have no problem doing that as long as the synced apps, music, etc stays there for both. I am not trying to copy from one to the other, just want to make sure I have a backup for the UhOh times. If logging in and out on the same PC of multiple AppleIDs is acceptible then I need to be able to authorize the PC for both devices. Thanks for the help. I am new to the iOS world.

I forgot to mention that she has a PC at her house that she also syncs to. Would this cause a problem. I am already getting that pop up saying that the iPod is synced to another library (even though she is signed in with her Apple ID to iTunes) and gives the pop up to Cancel, Erase & Sync, or Transfer Purchases. My question arose because she clicked on "Erase & Sync" by mistake when she plugged the iPod to her PC the first time. When the iPod was purchased and setup, it was synced to my PC first. When she went home, she hooked it up to her PC and then she erased it by accident. I was able to restore all the missing stuff yesterday using my PC. However, even after doing that it still told me the next time I hooked it up last night that the iPod was currently synced with a different library. Hopefully, you can help me understand all this. She wants to sync her iPod and also backup her iPod at both places. Both PCs have been authorised. Thanks -

If you are just visiting Singapore, then leave the account as it is. If you have moved there, then view your account using the iTunes app on a Mac or PC and change the country/region to your current location and address. If you do not have a bank card, you can fund your account using iTunes gift cards if available in Singapore.
