How can I use Firefox WITHOUT updating it? I do not have the "authority" on my work computer to do this, so I can't use firefox.

I do not have the "authority" on my work computer to do this, so I can't use firefox at work. Also, some of our programs do not work with the latest version of firefox..

Welcome to the Apple community.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). It also requires the computer to be using wi-fi.

Sadly, the iPhone 3G can not be upgraded beyond iOS 4.2.1.

  • When I tried to do the update it caused an error.  So I had to uninstall itunes and now it won't let me reinstall it.  Keeps saying something about I do not have the authority to do it.

I got this update message when I opened my itunes.  So I said yes and let it update.  But then I got this error message and now I can't get it to reinstall.  I am the owner of this pc and have been working with Itunes forever.  But it keeps telling me that I do not have the right authority to install itunes.  This really stinks since all my music for my i-pod is on Itunes.  Is there anyone out there who can help me with this?

Me too, kept saying a certain file was missing.  Don't understand why a file would be missing, all I did was unintall itunes so I could reinstall it.  Makes no sense to me.

  • I accidentally deleted iPhoto from my mbp and i do not have the ilife discs because my computer shipped with lion. How do i get it back?

I do not want to pay for it. I accidentally deleted it because it showed up twice on my launchpad thanks!

If you don't have an Installer disk then you can't install without a purchase. Do you have the grey SystemRestore disks that came with your Mac? It's on that. No, iPhoto is not part of Lion.

  • HT1338 How do I know it is updating? I don't see the icon and want to get rid of this tool bar someone put on my desktop

How Do I know it is updating? I clicked the "19.99" and I was signed in, but it never made me agree to anything, it just says updating.  I don't see any progress bar or anything.

Look on the Launchpad icon in your Dock. Or switch over to the Purchases side in App Store. If it's downloading it will take a while since Mountain Lion is over 4 GBs.

  • I do not have an icloud icon just mobileme icon.  I don't know how to increase or buy more space since I do not have the icon. Advice please. Thank you.

I am getting messages about my iCloud usage but I do not have an iCloud icon in my Preferences.  I only have Mobilme.  I need advice.  Thank you.

I assume you were are an ex-MobileMe subscriber who has had the complimentary extra storage which is due to expire very shortly. Unfortunately you cannot purchase your storage without being able to access the iCloud preference pane, and to do that you would have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mountain Lion.
If you have more than 5GB of data present when Apple pulls the plug, then Apple say:
If the storage you're using in iCloud exceeds the total storage available, iCloud Backup, Documents in the Cloud, and iCloud Mail will temporarily stop working. To resume using these features, you can either reduce the amount of iCloud storage that you're using, or purchase a storage plan with a larger amount of storage than you're currently using.
You have two choices. One is to go to http://icloud.com and clear out as much as you can. Certainly all contacts and calendars, and as much mail as you can manage. Since you have not been able to sync with iCloud you cannot have accumulated all that much data.
The other is to find a way of purchasing extra storage (you can do this even after the expiration and if you don't leave it too long you may be able to retain all your data) either by finding someone with a compliant Mac or an iOS5/6 device who can let you do this, or by upgrading your Mac - it it meets the requierments.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
To purchase it you will have to ring Apple at the number given at the bottom left of this page.
The requirements for Mountain Lion are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
    and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • HT4623 How do I upgrade to iOS 5 as I do not have the software update handle in thecsettings.

How do I upgrade to iOS 5 when there is no software update handle in the settings?

You update via your computer's iTunes, the Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed.
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11). You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes (on iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

I do not have the software to reboot my computer.  How do I find out what my administrator ID and password are?

    Hey,
Do you have access to the internet?
You might visit Adobe website and download Acrobat pro on your system.
Then, you can use your serial number for activating the software.

  • Can't create new BeehiveOnline Workspace "You do not have the required..."

I'm trying to create a new BeehiveOnline Workspace. I follow the instructions from the FAQ, but as soon as I click on the "New/Workspace" option, I receive this error "You do not have the required privileges to create a workspace in this Location"
The location looks like "/Oracle" but when I click on the associated "+" icon, nothing else displays.
I am trying to create this new workspace around Mid-Day on Sunday in Australia, so is it possible the system is "down", or is this a genuine privileges error? and if so how do I fix it?

This error is caused by you not having workspace creation rights - BeehiveOnline has restrictions on who can create workspaces. Go to beehiveonline.oracle.com and click on the right button. Find out who the group administrator is of your group and ask them to grant you workspace creation rights.

  • I do not have the Privilege to update my iPod

I just switched from my PC to my new Macbook. I had to restore my iPod and reload all of my songs but when I try to update it, it gives me the message,
"The iPod...cannot be updated. You do not have the privilege to make changes."
I'm new to Mac so I have no idea what might be causing this. Please help.
Also....when I was reuploading all of my songs to my iPod after restoring it, it gave me the same message but when I clicked "ok" on the message, it still uploaded all the songs. It won't do that anymore.

Your iPod might not have the correct Ownership & Permissions.
Select the iPod in the Finder (click once on the icon on the desktop).
Get Info (⌘-I). Expand 'Ownership & Permissions:' and expand 'Details:'.
At 'Owner:' you should read your username. If not, change it and also click on the 'Apply to enclosed items...' button.
That should fix it. If you want to use your iPod with other usernames too, tick the checkbox 'Ignore ownership on this volume'.
I would tick this checkbox anyway to avoid possible permission problems now and in the future.
    Hope this helps.

That is only present if you have already updated to iOS 5 or later.  If you're on iOS 4 you can only update while connected to your computer's iTunes.

You can't access iCloud from your iPhone unless you're on iOS 5 or later.  Otherwise, refer to this article:
