How can I use my 27 iMac as a screen for my Satellite tv box? Usb?

I'm trying to watch TV from my Directv, into the usb in in my 27" iMac, to use the iMac as a tv. There are several adapters that will convert it properly, but I don't know where to look for software that will let me just watch it in real time, as opposed to recording it.
Anybody know of such a program/software?

For the 2009 and 2010 27" iMacs with Mini DisplayPort you might need something like the Kanex XD http://www.kanexlive.com/xd
The Kanex XD is not compatible with ThunderBolt iMacs.

It would be highly practical to control my music from there, since it is charging right by my side while I'm at my computer.
Remote is not really an option, my computer doesn't have bluetooth or any connectivity. Something over wifi would work, but there's a usb connection right there that's begging to be used.

You can't do it via USB. Go to the App store and download/install the Apple Remote app. It can control iTunes on your computer via wifi.

Same custom messagebox code working in Phone_BackKeyPress event i am writing the code in Right Button that e.OriginalSource.ToString(); then it is working fine.

What happens if you leave the implementation for LeftButton empty as well , does the page gets stuck in that case also, if you press left button?

How can I use an American credit card to pay for a membership from outside the US? My payment page is set up for Japanese credit cards. I can't change to the US store, because the "Select a Store" page just jumps to the "Products" page.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be much appreciated!

I can see that there is no way to use the iMac screen thru standard methods. As the iMac is out of warranty and the DVD/CD drive no longer works I am willing to have the iMac's case opened and have some jerry-rigged solution installed. Does anyone have an idea as to how that can be done

How can I use my 27" iMac (2010) as an additional display to my Windows 7 PC (target display mode)?

So I have purchased a windows machines so that I can play all my favourite games on, and it's not so much a problem rather I have a 27" iMac that I would like to use as an additional monitor for said games.
I have had a look at this article on using the iMac as a display for another computer and things looked promising. I think I need a bit of help getting there though as I can't find definitively anything online to tell me exactly what I need. Most stuff talks about connecting other Apple computers that have mini display ports.
My PC's video card is an nVidia Geforce GTX 650 Ti that sports 2 DVI ports and a mini HDMI port (adaptor to full HDMI was included). The iMac has a mini display port. I went out and got a HDMI cable and Moshi Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter (with audio) to try to use the iMac as the additional display. I connected the PC with [a generic] HDMI cable to the adaptor which ran to the iMac and went through the appropriate steps (ie. pressing CMD + F2) to initiate target display mode. Nothing happened.
I have read that other people with different situations tried an SMC reset, but this didn't work for me either.
At this stage I wanted to see if the DVI port would do anything, or perhaps looking at a particular kind of HDMI cable, but wanted to see what the community can offer up as advice.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I recently purchased a 21.5 in iMac and wanted to use my old iMac as a extended desktop. My new iMac has thunderbolt and USB 3.0 connections while my old iMac has firewire (400 and 800), USB 2.0 and mini-DVI. Is this posible?

If your iMac has got Mini-DVI, you have a 17, 20 or 24-inch iMac that doesn't support Target Display. Late 2009 and Mid 2010 27-inch iMacs, and iMacs with Thunderbolt can be used as external displays. Read > http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11302?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
If your old iMac doesn't support Target Display mode, you can use ScreenRecycler to use your old iMac as an extended display for the new iMac. The only thing you need is that both Macs are connected to the same network

It's not possible. You can use the iMac as a display for the MBP, but the reverse is not possible. The MBP does not have Target Display Mode as a feature and no third-party app nor hack can enable something that doesn't exist. The only way to accomplish this will be one of the network solutions.

Unless the MBP has Thunderbolt you can't use the iMac as an external monitor unless you get ScreenRecycler. If the MBP does have Thunderbolt you need a Thunderbolt cable. Because Thunderbolt is so new finding a cable could be quite a challenge, you may want to contact Lacie and see if they can sell you one other than that I have no idea where to find one now.

Hello, Both my laptop and my phone support A2DP but for some reason the service (from the phone) does not show up while I add a new connection and the phone does not let me initiate a connection with any other profile except FTP, even though it detects other services in the service list like A2DP and works perfectly fine with other profiles like DUN, HID, OPP, SSP if the connection is started through the computer. I am currently using the latest version of the Toshiba stack [v8.00.12(T)], I have tried using WIDCOMM but it refuses to install drivers for both the internal Bluetooth and the USB Bluetooth that I use on my desktop. The standard Microsoft stack (generic driver) does install but it does not seem to communicate with my internal and external (USB) Bluetooth. With BlueSoleil (the default stack that came with the USB Bluetooth) I could set my device as "headset" instead of only "laptop/desktop", and this allowed both my phones to detect my laptop as a device they can use as a headset, but the problem with this stack was that only the older phone could actually connect to my laptop and that the internal Bluetooth could not be used. Basically, I want to set the device type as a "headset" for my phone using the Toshiba stack like I did with BlueSoleil. Is there any way this could be done? Thanks. Attached: Device type selection

How can I use my Dx7 as a MIDI controller for Logic Pro 9? I'm using MIDI/USB cable but Dx7 doesn't appear in the 'set-up' list, what am I doing wrong?

I'm using Logic Pro 9 - 9.1.8
MacBook Pro Retina OSX 10.9.3
DX7 2 FD connected to my laptop with a MIDI/USB cable
When I click the 'scan all models' search in the 'Control Surfaces Set Up' there is no Yamaha DX7 in the list so how can I make Logic 'see' the DX7?

As Colin pointed out, you have to look first in the Audio MIDI Setup. If your MIDI Device doesn't show up there, then Logic cannot see it either (unless you are using Logic Remote on your iPad to play over Wi-Fi).
I'm curious about the "MIDI/USB cable you mention. If the DX7 has a standard 5-pin DIN MIDI out jack, then you have to connect that to a MIDI Interface first that converts the MIDI signal to send it over the USB jack out. Please note that you would see the MIDI Interface in the Audio MIDI Setup app and not the DX7 itself. Also, in Logic you would see the MIDI Interface in the Environment as a valid MIDI input device.

I'm not sure if it works with DVI but your late 2009 must be a 27". Try Command-F2 or Copmmand-Fn-F2
