How can I view DVD's that I dubbed from old vhs tapes? I finalized them and can play on other DVD players but not my IMac. Is there a specific program?
I dubbed DVD's from old VHS tapes. I finalized them and can play tehm on differant DVD players, but on my IMac I can't play them. Ultimately I want to create home movies with pics, but how can I play the DVD's?
A DVD is a DVD, unless it's been authored in a non-standard way. When you insert it in your Mac, do you at least see the disk appear on the desktop? Does it have a VIDEO_TS folder in it, containing various files?
If you open DVD Player manually (from the Applications folder), does it see it and start playing? If not, try downloading VLC (free) and see if that works.

I recently got a new iPhone, and after restoring all my stuff from my old iPhone via the iTunes restore thing, I had to put all my music on manually, instead of it being restored.
iTunes content is not included with your iPhone's backup - no music, movies, tv shows, podcasts, audio and print books, tones, and apps. All iTunes content must be transferred back to your iPhone when restoring. If you sync music with Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, music is transferred back to your iPhone from your iTunes library when syncing - syncing is followed after the iPhone is restored. If you manually manage music and videos with this selected under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, you must manually drag all music from your iTunes library back to your iPhone. Manually manage music means manually all the way. -

Because of some of the "problems" associated with FlashPlayer and the drain on the battery I have chosen Not to install it on my MacBook Air. This does limit my ability to see any media video on a website and that includes YouTube. But I decided to live without it. (Although I don't understand why I can see YouTube video on my iPhone without flashplayer) To have an alternative web browser I installed Google Chrome. Once I did that I found I can now view YouTube videos. I thought "did I install flashplayer on my computer as a result of installing Chrome?". Since I wasn't able to find it with Finder it would appear I didn't. Then I opened Safari and tried to view videos at YouTube and was told I needed to install FlashPlayer.
Now I totally confused. Do I have flashplayer or not? Is it only contained inside Chrome? Are there any consequences to my computer? Am I ultimately exposing my computer to battery drain and potential slow down problems anyway? HELP! Thoughts and opinions will be greatly appreciated.Well... one of the benefits to Chrome is that Flash is built in and automatically updates. I believe it only runs within the browser and it does not install in a traditional sense. It should not impact your system whan Chrome is closed.
You can also view many YouTube videos using HTML5 instead of Flash. HTML5 is a newer web standard that allows for viewing videos instead of Flash. YouTube has converted many of their videos over to HTML5. You can view them with FireFox and Safari (and Chrome if you like). Unfortunately, I'm at work and YouTube is blocked so I can't point you to the link for using HTML5 instead of Flash. This should be the right page:

I recommend the EyeTV Hybrid from ElGato. It will do what you ask and also serve as a high-def TV Tuner and DVR.

Another option is to buy a digital camcorder with a Pass-thru option.

Used emigration assistant and can't find my files. Applications and programs transferred fine but can't find word docs. picture or itunes songs.
Call Apple, you have 30 days of free support.
I tell you this because Apple doesn't think anything is wrong with Migration Assistant, but it's loaded with problems and we volunteers are tired of handling their problems for free.
Call them, make Apple fix it, it's their screwup.
Once they see it's costing them money, perhaps they will quit using it or fix it.
Sorry about the rant, but you can help solve the problem, Apple doesn't pay attention here, it's moderated and that's about it. -
Mail works on my other apple products but not my iMac - how do I fix that?
I cannot download my mail on my iMac but I can on my MacAir, iPhone and iPad. I have a gmail account. I have tried to delete and add account but it just downloads email from a couple of days ago and no recent email.

Are you using Apple Mail? Gmail App? Are you using a personal address "@me.com"?
To give you a generalized answer. If your using a Pop Server (You have emails downloaded to each individual device via pop.emailprovider.com) in Apple Mail. Its possible that you have a setting causing emails to delete from your device, not the server where your emails are stored. If you can view your emails on more than one computer, then the emails are stored on your server. My recommendation would be to use an IMAP server setup if possible.
If you could answer some of my questions, I would be happy to help you more. It appears to be an issue with the device deleting local emails downloaded to it, rather than the emails deleting server side. -

Have you tried opening the file in FCP?
If there is no error message and it will not play in QT7, it is quite possible the file is corrupted. You will need to go back to the original project and re-export the file.

How can I view my pictures that were backed up to iTunes? I no longer have an apple product but need to view the pictures for very important reasons.
If you mean backed up as part of an iPhone backup in iTunes? If so, you would have to use 3rd party software to extract them from the backup, such as iPhone Backup Extractor.

I am using an Macbook pro in conjunction with a Time Capsule. I back up all my aperture librarys on it, but how can i view these images that are stored on the capsule please ??
If you want to see what is in a file that is backed up by time machine then you have to restore the entire file. Having said that I have had good experience with Time Machine and individual files... if the file is there then all of it's components are almost for sure there. A way to get around this in Aperture would be to use referenced images. The images then still exist as individual files and can be backed up and restored individually. You would have to do so on a file by file basis though and your album information would still only be saved within the Aperture library.

How can I view the iMessages that were sent to me while I was out of the country? They never loaded, but people have told me that they sent me many iMessages while I was gone.
I figured they would load when I turned on my cellular data, but only my text messages loaded. I would like to see the iMessages I missed because I believe some of them were fairly important.
I would really appreciate somebody's help!As far as I understand with this, iMessage works the same as regular txts.The iMessages are held on the messaging server for 72hrs if it's not picked up by then it expires. So those that you didn't get you will never get. Sorry.
