How can I watermark in Aperture 3?

I was told by an employee at the Apple store that I can watermark in Aperture 3. I've looked and looked but the only thing I can find is exporting... nothing in the manual or online tells me how to create a watermark using Aperture 3. Anybody know how to do this?

You can apply a watermark file to an image on export using Aperture but you need to create the watermark using a program other than Aperture.
This video Aperture Quick Tip - Using Watermarks describes the process.
One other possibilty is to use a plugin in like BorderFx

On imac 10.6.8 using current version of Aperture. How can I access the Aperture Library on my external hard drive that I use with time machine for backup? I can only access the application but not the library..

Go into Time Machine (the program not the bundle on the extrnal disk) and using Time Machine's browser go to the Folder where the library lives. You could look in the library bundle in Time Machine but that won't really tell you much,
If you want to make sure it truely has backed up your library you will need to restore it and open the restored library with Aperture.
If all this still has you confused you need to read up on Time Machine in order to get a feel for how it works, for what it is doing and for how to restore files from it.

• How can I migrate an Aperture library from an external HDD with Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted) format?

How can I migrate an Aperture library from an external HDD with Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted) format?
I used to store my pictures on an external hard drive using the latest version of Aperture. Now I tried migrating my Aperture library to Photos. However, after a short moment an error message popped up telling me that "Photos was unable to make a copy of your library before preparing it. Photos does not have the necessary permissions...".
My external HDD doesn't need any permission repairs nor is the system prohibited to read from or write to it.
Thanks for any advice in advance!

My guess is that the encryption is the problem for the new app.

• How can I get my Aperture library back from the Photos application?

Thanks again!

• How can i stop my aperture, my aperture now is non stop transfer in the movies

How can i stop my aperture, my aperture now is non stop transfer in the movies.

non stop transfer in the movies
Transfer movies from where? Sorry, I don't understand. Are you importing movies? Or rendering a slideshow as a movie and exporting a movie? Syncing with iCloud, Flickr, Facebook?
If importing movies into Aperture is hanging, and there is no progress at all, force quit Aperture (From the Apple -menu > Force quit ⌥⇧⌘⎋)
Then repair your Aperture library using the Aperture library First Aid Tools:

how can i watermark or embed paintings/art work before puting on my website? H E L P! Thank you.

That is not a feature of iPhoto - suggest to Apple - iPhoto Menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback.
Use a third party external editor, preview or a watermark program - click here for links to some to consider.

• How can I import an Aperture Catalog into Lightroom and retain the RAW file as well as the files with the edits?

I have several catalogs in Aperture that I would like to import to Lightroom 5 and I want to retain the original RAW files as well as the files with the edits. How can I do this?

Well, you can bring in the raw file (without edits), and you can bring in a rendered RGB file (e.g. jpeg or tiff) with edits baked in, but what you CAN'T do is bring in a raw file, with the non-destructive Aperture edits, and have Lr translate those Aperture edits into Lightroom edits.
Put another way: no raw converter/editor can understand the edits of any other raw converter/editor. So, you have to work with a rendered version, and/or re-edit from scratch in a new raw converter/editor.
PS - it would be feasible to write a rough translator which approximated raw edits in one world into edits in another, but such does not exist yet for Aperture -> Lightroom, that I know of.

• How can I get my aperture library exported to iphoto?

Can anyone specifically tell me how to move pictures from aperture to iphoto? Thanks!

You can't import an entire actual Aperture library file into iPhoto.
But you can always create an album with all the images you want to export, select File>Export Versions and then export them to a folder where you can then import them from within iPhoto. You'll be making duplicates (just so you'll know that it will take up some additional disk space.)
If you have some sort of structure you want, you could do this with multiple albums so that iPhoto imports them as individual rolls.

• How to add watermark in aperture

i don't have photoshop. i want to add watermark in my pictures.

While it is possible to add a watermark in Aperture you can;t create a watermark file in Aperture, for that you will need another program. There are many good tutorials on the web, search for Watermarks in Aperture or somthing similar.
If you don;t want to go through all that you can download the Aperture plugin BorderFx which is free and will allow you to add watermarks and a bunch of other useful functions.

• How can I make my Aperture work under Yosemite

Installed Yosemite and now cannot use Aperture and getting the message that it cannot link the app to a user ID. But...I actually bought the app instore and have disc and serial number. So how can I link these two items and be able to use my app?? Any help appreciated. Used Support chat, and re-installed using discs but to no avail...so their help did not work unfortunately.

Installed Yosemite and now cannot use Aperture
Did you skip the Upgrade to Mavericks and Aperture 3.5.1? Then contact the AppStore Support. There is a link to contact the AppStore in the "Quick Links" on the main AppStore page. Ask for a redeem code to be able to download Aperture 3.6 from the AppStore.
Only the Support Team can solve issues with the Apple ID. You will probably need to provide a Proof of Purchase, see this link for what constitutes a proof of purchase: Pro Application Replacement Serial Numbers

• How can I use an Aperture photo as wallpaper?

I'd like to use a few of my photos in Aperture 3 as wallpaper for my 2010 MacBook Pro (Mac OS 10.6.8), but I'm not sure how to do it. There doesn't seem to be any option for this within Aperture, and I can't see the Aperture library in Desktop/Screen Saver Preferences. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

When you're in the System Prefs > Desktop & Screen Saver > Desktop, have you tried hitting the plus button and scrolling down to Photos in the Media section of the sidebar of the browser window that comes up? You should be able to select photos from Aperture there.

• How can I divide my Aperture Library between digital and scanned images?

I am scanning 20,000 35mm slides to my Aperture Library. I have started importing them as TIFF files because the resolution of the JPEG files is not as good. Because of the number and size of the images, I would like to "split" my Aperture Library so that my current digital images are on the iMac HD and the scanned images are on a dedicated external HD. Is it possible to do this? If so, how do I set it up? Will the scanned images be managed or referenced images?

"Scan" means "digitize". Once your media is scanned, it is digital. Your question then becomes "How can I group my scans?" and "Can I store the Originals of the Images based on the scans externally?".
There are many ways to group Images. All of them are based on either giving the Images you want to group some unique marker, or using a marker that is already unique to them as a group. How you do this is up to you. Options include but are not limited to: put them in Projects and put those Projects in a Folder called "Scans", keyword them on import as "ScannedFrom35mmSlides", name them when scanned with a prefix such as "Scand35mm_", etc.
Aperture allows you to store the Original of each Image wherever you want. Storage devices mounted directly to your computer are recommended. Aperture provides tools to move each Image's Original inside your Library package (the Library package shows in Finder as a single file with the file extension ".aplibrary"), to relocate it outside your Library package at any location you specify, or to relocate files which are currently outside your Library package wherever you want.
Originals inside your Library are called "managed". Originals outside your Library are called "referenced". This is a per-Image setting, though moving these files is almost always done in batch, and most people keep their Library with every Image's Original either managed or referenced.
Having a "mixed Library", with some Image's Originals managed and others referenced, presents no problems.
The commands for relocated the Originals of the currently selected Images are on the "File" menu. Directions on using these commands are in the User Manual here.
Here is a concise guide to the parts of Aperture. Should any of the above be confounding, it may help clear things up.
I suggest determining the naming conventions, storage, and keywording that you are going to use in Aperture before you proceed. Rigorously building well-designed storage and retrieval structures from the start will make your image database easier to use, and more useful, than making changes ad hoc along the way.
Fwiw, JPG and TIFF are not differentiated by resolution (which is the pixel dimensions). TIFF is recommended because by default it is not compressed (no data is lost), and it can use 16-bits of information per pixel (JPG is limited to 8 bpp). 16-bit TIFF is an excellent -- and standard -- file format for high-quality scans.
Are you really still on 10.6.1?

• How can I move the aperture program from my old Mac to my new Macbook Pro?

I have Aperture 3.2 on my old Mac laptop and would like to know how to move it over to my new macbook pro retina laptop. I tried to just move it from my external hard drive, but that didn't work. Can I use the migration assistant to transfer this and only this program to my new laptop?
Thanks,
Shirley

Apple Pro Apps like Aperture really do best if installed from the original media that hey were bought on. Trying to migrate Aperture can lead to a lot of frustrating problems.
The libraries can be copied over just as you would any file but the application itself needs to be installed.
How did you purchase Aperture? If you got it in the Mac App Store then all you need to do is log into the MAS from the new computer using the same Apple ID you used to buy Aperture and download it.
If you bought it on DVD you will need to install from those and then run software update to get to the latest version. Remember if you bought it on DVD you will need the original serial number that was included in the package. Also if this was and upgrade from an earlier version (1 or 2) you will need those serial numbers also.
