I got an iPhone and I noticed I was using data a lot quicker than I was with my android I had before it. I turned off the cellular but the number of "bars" or dots that are filled in and the service provider still show up at the top of the screen. Is it actually turned off or did it stay on?
The dots will still show when cellular data is turned off. You still have a cellular connection for phone calls and non iMessage texting and it is showing the strength of that connection.
Note that you can track what is using your cellular data by going to Settings > Cellular > Use Cellular Data For
and you can also turn off individual apps on that screen. -
How can I switch off the automatic window size and set the size of the window manually
I need to open the web-page in a window of a certain size. The javascript function window.resizeTo (w, h) does not work. If I open the window using the window.open ("", "", "width: w, height: h, ..."), there is another problem.
The hyperlinks that have to be opened in a new tab in the same window or at least in the window of the same size, will open in another tab of the first window from which I called window.open().
I do not know what it is, bug or as intended, but the normal full-featured window with the right size I cannot get.

How can I transfer/merge the backup-data of one iphone onto another iphone?
I have two iphones and want to merge the backup-data from one to the other without destroying any data on the new one. How can I do it and will this data be replaced automatically or merged?

ToniAs long as you use the same account, you can sync the same apps, contacts, music and other media content. Set up at least one contact and event on your new phone, to be able to merge your contacts and calendars. You can't transfer settings of your 3rd party apps, because this data is stored in your backup, and restoring from your backup will erase your new phone's data.

You can also transfer your mail account settings using the option in the info pane in itunes, as well as the option to replace contacts, calendars, bookmarks and notes during the following sync. -
How can I turn off the laptop after restoring it to factory settings?

I am selling my Portege R830-10Q so I want to restore it to factory settings (out-of-box state) AND THEN TURN IT OFF.
I have successfully brought the laptop to factory settings by using the _TOSHIBA Recovery Wizard_ and choosing *Recovery of Factory Default Software (Recover to out-of-box state)*. However, at the end of the recovery process and after everything is re-installed I was not able to TURN OFF the laptop. I was only given the option of restarting it. After restating it, the Windows set-up process starts.
I don't want to set-up Windows, i.e. language, keyboard, user account, etc. I want to leave the Windows set-up for the person who buys the laptop from me. How can I switch off the laptop after the system recovery without having to set up Windows?
I'd really appreciate your help.

PedroWhen recovery procedure is finished and you are asked for restart just press power button and switch it off. I think it only thing you can do.
Anyway, why not to start Windows and go through setup option. New owner can change this basic settings anyway. As username put Admin and language and keyboard can be set as default.
For instance, if you have German recovery image set everything to German. New owner can change it anyway. -

If you migrated your MobileMe account before 1 August you should have signed into System Preferences>iCloud with it, and you would be able to see your calendars, bookmarks and emails on the iCloud website. Is this the case? Did you sign into iCloud with your @me.com address?
If you did not migrate your MobileMe account you can no longer do so.
If you did migrate, did you do so from a full MobileMe account or from a Family Pack sub-account? the latter did not get the complimentary storage (because their iDisks were only 5GB anyway).
If you had a full MobileMe account, check on your Mac - System Preferences>iCloud - and see whether that shows the upgrade. If it doesn't, you probably need to contact Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:

You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.

I'm not sure why I missed the original reply, but here is an Applescript that will change all the years of any selected contacts to 1604 (default for no year).

If a reset does not work, then the next steps in user troubleshooting are restore from a backup and if that doesn't work, then restore as a new device. If that doesn't work, then you can make an appointment to take the device to the Apple store and have the hardware checked.
If you live close to an Apple store, you could go there first, but they will probably ask if you have done a restore and would do one there, so make sure you have backed up and synced all of your data. -

Thank you!If you don't already have a current backup of all data, back up before proceeding. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Disk Utility.
In the Disk Utility window, select the icon of the startup volume from the list on the left. It will be nested below another disk icon, usually with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar. When prompted, enter the login password of a user authorized to unlock the volume, or the alternate decryption key that was generated when you activated FileVault.
Then, from the menu bar, select
File ▹ Turn Off Encryption
Enter the password again.
You can then restart as usual, if the system is working. Decryption will be completed in the background. It may take several hours, and during that time performance will be reduced.
If you can't turn off encryption in Disk Utility because the menu item is grayed out, you'll have to erase the volume and then restore the data from a backup. Select the Erase tab, and then select
Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
from the Format menu.
You can then quit to be returned to the main Recovery screen. Follow these instructions if you back up with Time Machine. If you use other backup software, follow its developer's instructions.
Don't erase the volume unless you have at least two complete, independent backups. One is not enough to be safe. -

You can't. There is no memory card. It uses flash memory that's soldered to the logic board. If you didn't back it up, your data is gone.

Our internal contacts in the company, have already taken the lead to find out about whether we will be able to use the WLS 6.1 platform to do this and the answer we got back, was.
Now we need to develop our own security module.
I have 2 questions:
1. How can we turn off the WLS security in order develop our own application-based security module?
2. How can we develop a security module that allows us to age users' password and provide them with facilities to change their passwords when these expire?
At the moment, we are using the default BEA WebLogic login.jsp page and there some configuration in the web.xml for this. I will be grateful if you could advise me on how to turn this default security off so that we can write our own security module.hi,
