    Hello gail from Ajijic,
If you'd like to change the audio output of your Mac, you can do so by accessing the Sound preferences in your System Preferences.
Before you start, open the Output pane of Sound preferences (choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Sound, then click Output).
    Choose a sound output device
From the list of sound output devices, select the one you want to use. All sound output devices available to your Mac are listed, including the computer’s internal speakers, devices plugged into your computer’s sound port (), USB speakers, and AirPlay devices.
For any device plugged into the computer’s sound port, choose Headphones.
OS X Yosemite: Adjust your computer’s sound output settings
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,
    Alex H.

  • How can I transfer a sound file from my "Voice Memos" app on my iPhone to my iPad?

How can I transfer a sound file from my "Voice Memos" app on my iPhone to my iPad?

In iTunes with your iPhone connected, click on the iPhone device, select the Apps tab, scroll down to the File Sharing section and pick an app that plays Quicktimes ("Files Connect" works in this example, but I'm open to suggestions of better apps for playing transferred Quicktimes) and drag your Quicktime from Finder to the Documents pane for the File Sharing app.   Once the file transfer is complete, go to the app on your iPhone to play the Quicktime.

I have a new iPhone 5C, have the sounds alerts set up. But I'm not getting sound alerts for new voicemail, only the red circle on the screen.  How can I make the sound alert work?

I have had this same problem for weeks now with my 4S.  I just got a new 5S after being extremely frustrated and the same thing - no sounds.  After searching posts all over, I couldn't find a solution. I just told my friend of the issue and he asked "Do you have the Do Not Distrub on?"  I didn't even know such a function existed.  Upon looking that was exactly the issue.
To resolve, go to Settings> Do Not Disturb> Manual.  If it is green, turn it off.  You will now get phone calls and text alerts.
This functionality is also on your quick access utility menu (slide up menu).  I assume this is how it was enabled on my phone.
I will post on other sites since I searched for weeks for this solution and didn't see it anywhere.  Good luck!

  • How can I restore the sound on my ipad

How can I restore the sound on my ipad please?
I have know idea what happened to it but I am disabled
and rely on it so much because it is so easy to carry around.
Please advise me how to restore it. I miss listening to my music
    so much.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap on General
    3. Tap on Reset
    4. Tap on Reset All Settings
What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy. It doesn’t affect your data. All of your email accounts will remain intact, as well as any SMS text or iMessages.

  • How can I stop the sound of my camera?

few weeks ago I bought a Nokia E65. I like my phone but I don't like the sound of camera while capturing the picture or recording some video clip. I dont know why the producers add this sutupid sound to the phones. Or why dont they add a selective option. How can I cancel this sound in my e65. It is making me nervous.

    No way!
    That was hardcore.
I guess nokia should add this option and can make an aware statement not to take a pic where it is prohibited, that just does the job.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

  • How can my Imac be backup aware ?

    Hi,
The computer's activity, as defined by the system's idletime, is only related to mouse move and pressing keys on the keyboard.
While all computer's activity are not really activity to be monitored, executing a backup is an activity that is important to monitor before putting the computer to sleep.
How can my iMac be backup aware (with any backup software) ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi A Brody,
I want my computer to prevent of going to sleep when executing any backup application (Retrospect, Backup, etc ... I thought that there was a way for the OS to be aware if such processes were running. I think that the OS should consider more than mouse moves and key pressing on the keyboard when defining computer activity.
I wrote an Apple Script handler to monitor if certain applications are running. I run into difficulties because managing the CPU's activity by script is not simple (or possible) for applications like Retrospect that are running as Root.
So I thought that some of you would have found a more trivial way of dealing with this also trivial problem ...
    Thanks for reading.
