  • HT203167 lost my hard drive how can i get songs from ipod back to new computer

I lost my hard drive and want to get my music back on my new computer. How can I get songs from my ipod to my computer? I am afraid to sync it and losing what is on my ipod. Any help would be appreciated.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from your ipod:  File>Transfer Purchases

  • TS1425 how can put music in my ipod i try  but is imposible for me to do

I TRY TO PUT MUSIC BUT I REALY DONT NO HOW CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME

Is this a new problem you are having (it worked before and does not now)?  Or, are you asking as someone new to iPods who does not know how to use an iPod?
If it's a new problem, you'll have to provide more details.  If you don't know how, the user manual for your particular model may be helpful.  It says "iPod classic" in your profile.  Here are the manuals for the "iPod classic" models.

If you have another type of iPod, those manuals are also available on the web page.

  • I have NO idea how to put pictures on my iPod nano

Okay i drag the picture into my library but it doesnt allow me to.

    ROFL
Sorry you cannot drag image files into your Itunes Library, because Itunes us not an image viewer software. But if you want to upload photos onto your ipod then you can do it through itunes. How?
OK, choose a folder at any location on your computer that contains photos you want in ipod. Now when you are connected with ipod through itunes, go to Ipod options box
and you can select that particular folder in the photo option. After that the itunes will sync it to your ipod and whatever image file is in that folder will be on your ipod.
If you delete any photo from this folder, then it will be deleted from your ipod as well. If you organise more sub folders in this folder, you will see same organisation in your ipod as well...its coool

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • How do I get pictures from my iPod back to my computer?

First of all, I searched and searched and never found a difinitive answer. So forgive me if there is a topic covering this buried somewhere in the depths of ****!
I recently lost stuff on my hard drive. I want to get my pictures back from my iPod onto my PC. I got them onto the iPod in the first place with iTunes. Not with disk mode. I know some people say you can't get them off unless you put them onto it in disk mode. But, there has to be a way, or a program out there that can do this. If the pictures were put on there. There has to be a way to take them off.
So if anyone knows a way, or a program that will take pictures off your iPod, back onto the PC, I would be forever in your debt. As some of the pictures I need off of it cannot be replaced.

Sorry Johnny....I missed that point. I'm struggling to find an application that will get the photos off for you. If you have access to a Mac, this may help
    http://echoone.com/filejuicer/formats/formats?f=ithmb
However, this still may not work as you may be asked to format the iPod first which will be self defeating.
I looked at Yamipod and a couple of other products that will extract music from an iPod...can't find one for photos....sorry...maybe Chris or one of the other regulars has a solution.

  • HT1296 How do you put all music on Ipod back onto a previously crashed computer in which the original music files were not able to be restored?

Hi, HOW DO YOU PUT ALL MUSIC FROM IPOD BACK ONTO A PREVIOUSLY CRASHED COMPUTER IN WHIHC ALL MUSIC FILES WERE UNABLE TO BE RESTORED.
My computer crashed a few months ago and my IT guys were not able to restore my music files.. at least I can't find them. When I log into Itunes, all of my music and play lists appear but when I click to play a song in Itunes on computer, it says the files can not be found. My Ipod obviously has all of my music but I'd like to add more (without deleting what I've got on there) and to copy back whats on my Ipod back to my computer. If I plug together and my computer sync then I will loose all music... needing detailed instructions please.

from what i understand, the procecess is similar on both mac and pc, so i'll try help you here. have you set your preferences to "automatically update all"?
    Yes i have.
if this isn't working, maybe try moving one that you are certain is in the correct format, manually. import it from scratch to your itunes, and then copy it to the ipod.
If i click 'import files' the only files it comes up with are text file. Should it be doing this?' So the only files i can import are written documents :/
If i select 'add files' it dosnt add them to my libary at all.
I tryed what you said, i deleted my movies then loaded one into my libary which i no is in the right format but it still said that it is unable to put into my ipod.
Thanks for trying to help by the way :]

This may have changed by now but when I went to the Apple store about a year ago I heard one of the Geniuses/Genii(??) talking to someone about how for some reason you can't sync photos from an i device to a Windows PC using iTunes
you can get around this by emailing the photos to yourself and then opening them up on the computer, though

Ok...when I am saying your fourth tab I am referring to the tabs that show when you click on your iPod name is the left panel in iTunes...you will see the summary page in the larger screen to the right. IT is the 4th tab within that summary screen. The list for the kind of iPod you have can be found by going to Ipod Family.

    5. How to Recover Forgotten iPhone Restrictions Passcode | The iPhone and iPad
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the
Back Up option. If you have just backed up the device, it is not necessary
              to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore or have forgotten your restrictions passcode, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

  • HOW DO I PUT PICTURES IN MY IPOD?

PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO PLACE PICTURES IN MY IPOD AND BE ABLE TO SEE THEM IN IT...THANKS

    Hello,
If iTunes is simply displaying "No iPod connected", then try these things below:
Have you tried: dosconnecting your iPod, putting your iPod into disk mode (manually) then connecting it to your computer again? See it described in this Apple article:
Putting your iPod into disk mode
Have you tried out the suggestinos in these articles below? (pick which situation is yours):
iPod appears in Windows but not in iTunes
iPod missing in My Computer or in iTunes
Try assigning your iPod a different drive letter following these steps:
1 - Don’t plug in your iPod yet.
2 - Go to "START -> Control Panel -> Admin Tools (if you don't see this, click on "classic view" button on the left panel) -> Computer Management."
3 - Click on the "Disk Management" button in the left panel area.
4 - Now, with "Computer Management" and Control Panel windows opened, reset your iPod, and connect it.
5 - Right-click on your iPod's listing there (after a few moments when it gets recognized in this drive window), and click on "Change Drive letter and Paths". Then the "Change..." button.
Here's what it should look like:
Assign your iPod the letter "M" "N", "O" or the like (further along in the alphabet).
For more details, see this article:

I hope this helps you, post back on the results,

While performing a system update, I shut down my iPod touch. Can the pictures on my iPod be recovered if my iPod was not backed up?
iPod is fourth generation, the system update was a little over half complete.
I want to get the pictures off the iPod so that I can keep them. Is there any way to do this?

    Maybe,
    - if when you connect the iPod to your computer you can make a backup? If yes yo can restore from that backup
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    - Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backup dated when you started the update. the first stiep of an update is iTunes making a backup.
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:
