First, share your MB pro DVD drive on the network in System Preferences > Sharing.
Insert the iWork DVD into the MBpro's drive.
Then go to your MBair and click "Remote Disc" in the Finders Sidebar.
You'll see your MBpro listed in the finder window. Click the arrow next to The MBpro name and you'll see the shared DVD. Double click that and the installation process should begin.

How to change firmware password on Macbook air

Hi again all,
Community here helped me to manage to change the firmware on my macbook pro.
I also have the same situation with my macbook air (please feel comfortable, i do not have other notebooks).
How can I change the password at least the firmware password (in order to deactivate it and then proceed to an applejack session) ?
I tried: cmd+R, C press.. Nothing
ps: i do not have any cds, dvd or key

I did not receive/have any dvd/cd/key for the macbook air... and AS it is a macbook air so there is no drive anyway...
Is there any other solution to change the firmware password/deactivate it ?

I have recovered my ID and password on my wondows computer. There is no software on my MacBook Air right now. How do I re-install OSX?

Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This will install the OS originally installed on your computer. If you plan to sell or give away the computer, then do not upgrade it or the purchaser will not be able to use it.

I actually wiped my MBAir SSD set a firmware password and then rebooted which results in a blinking folder icon and question mark at boot. If I hold the ALT key during boot I get the option to enter a password but I can't remember what it is to save my life! How would they be able to network boot it when the firmware password is specifically designed to keep you from booting any other device besides the target disk set in the firmware/EFI ?
Apple Technicians: I am about 300 miles from the nearest Apple store, that being said I have a copy of Apple Service Toolkit. AST OS 12 contains a special NetBoot disk image installer with a bare bones 10.8.4 with TestMarshal. In addition to Apple Service Diagnostics 3S155 software. Is this the same software that Apple would use if I drove 300 miles just to SEE if they could fix it and then have to drive back after they work on it?

Did you try resetting the PRAM immediately after changing the RAM configuration, Omidsmac?
Do you know if the keyboard itself is now operating normally? If it is not then you may wish to also try using an external keyboard.

I've enabled firmware password protection, but it won't work unless you try to boot in other mode ( like holding c, d or option to boot from other drives ). However, what I want is a complete lock from opening my computer. Is there a way to enforce this?

Even if with the firmware password, you're not safe. There are ways to bypass both the firmware password and the login password. To be as safe as possible:
1) Turn on the firmware password, as you have done
2) Turn off auto-login, so that users have to log in to use the machine
3) Set the login window to ask for name and password instead of displaying a list of users
4) Use good encryption with a good password to protect any sensitive data
or,
4b) Don't ever let the machine out of your sight!
Disk Utility can help with #4 through use of encrypted sparse disk images on which you store sensitive data. File Vault can also help by encrypting your entire user folder, but IMHO this is a bad idea unless absolutely necessary, as it complicates backups and means that any little disk corruption could trash your entire user directory (since it'll be stored in one big, encrypted file).

I am attempting to install software on my new MacBook Air 13", with my LG Portable Super Multi Drive. It works perfectly on my MacBook Pro, and other macs, but when I plug it into the USB port of my new MacBook Air, it spins, acts like it wants to load the disk, but it doesn't !
Any thoughts on how I can get this to work?

For it to show on the desktop check on Finders menubar. Finder > Preferences > General > check CDs DVDs and iPods. Do the Same in the sidebar tab if desired.
