How can we cancel Firefox attempts to load new version of Firefox or successfully load it

Firefox is attempting to load the new version of Firefox and keeps failing, with this message showing. "Updates can`t be installed, make sure no other copies of firefox are running on computer then restart. When you X out or click on OK, it tries again and keeps repeating this cycle, not letting us connet to the internet. How can we cancel the update attempts or successfully load the new version so we can access the internet sgain

If you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and remove the Firefox program folder to do a clean install of the new version.
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

How do I cancel outdated protection and install new version?

I have firefox setup 3.6.13 installed on my computer, I think.
A warning came up to update so I would have new and better protection. When I tried to install the new version it would not install because it said I have a version already running
and I am supposed to uninstall the old version first. I don't know how to do that. I am NOT computer savvy! :(

Still trying to find an answer with no results at all so far. SO, let's try again. I upgraded to iTunes 10 from my older version of iTunes 9, which I found out was so much better for me than the 10 version. I just want to cancel the 10 version and go back to the older version. The main reason is because I listen to the radio in iTunes while working on my computer, and while working the sound is so horrible, it sounds like a lot of rumble-jumble any time I move the mouse, or something changes on the screen, any kind of movement on the screen can be heard on the radio. I have asked several times if there is a solution to this problem, can it be repaired on iTunes 10 version,or can I just remove iTunes10 version and reclaim the older version of iTunes that I used in the past.

I got a new laptop and was forced to load up the latest version of itunes, which for me has worked fine. I connected my first gen. shuffle and married it to my new computer. But on my old computer/version of itunes i was able to keep the "shuffle's playlist" on itunes at all times so it was easy to tweak my songs and then whenever i charged my ipod all the songs would update. now it seems i cannot keep the playlist contents of my shuffle on itunes and have to update the shuffle manually while its connected which takes much more time. Where is the setting to change this so i can see the shuffle playlist all the time?

I had removed the test pilot extension and its feedback button in Firefox 4.0b9. I let Firefox upgrade itself to 4.0b10 and didn't notice that silently re-installed it.
I was typing in another application when suddenly that window was minimized and the focus shifted to a Firefox "new test pilot study" window that popped up. Even if I had given permission for that software to be installed, that is rude.

One way might be to set extensions.rdf read-only. However, I do not wish to lose the ability to install add-ons, I merely do not want anybody (including Mozilla) to install an add-on without my permission.
