How can we do reporting on Master data?

Hi all:
can any tell me "can we do reporting on master data". if so, HOW? can you please give me a step by step procedure.
This is what i know:plz correct me if i am wrong.
1. assuming that i want a report on 0sales_area.
2. i need to make that DS available in Infoprovider tree.
3. to do so, in infosource, i need to choose flexible updating for Master data, which in turn makes the Infoobject available in Infoprovider.
4. then i need to create Update rules.
5. and can get a report in BEx?
Am I correct?

Kedar,
Direct update is generally used for Master data infoobject & here no update rules are used, that means data from source system passes though transfer structure, rules, & communication structure directly to Data target i.e. InfoObject.
Flexible Update - generally used for transaction data ( nowadays can be used for few master data as well) has another set of rule after communication structure i.e. update rule before moving data to data target.

How can we find out when master data was activated

Hello Friends,
We are loading master data for one info object directly from R3 to Info Object without PSA.
1) The Request Green in RSMO only tells that data is loaded successfully but it does not give any information about Activation is that right ?
2) How can i find out histroy of when one particular Info Object( Master data ) is activated? any tables or tcodes ?

Ans- yes it give loading details only.

ans -in SM37 chk any attribute change run is completed , else in RSA1 Tools -> apply attribute change and hierarchy -> you can see the finished and scheduled job.
also u can chk the master data table for any M version records is available.

Hi Kalyan,
This is how you can find any transparent table you want.
1. Put your cursor in any of the fields of the customer screen and hit F1 on your keyboard. Next Click on the "Technical Information" icon. Under "Field Data", this would show you for example structure RF02D and field KUNNR (Customer Number), if your cursor was in the Customer Number field. Copy the field KUNNR.
2. Next, open another session and execute transaction code SE80. On the Menu Bar, click "Environment -> Repository Information System". Open up the folder "ABAP Dictionary -> Fields -> Double Click on Table Fields". Paste your Customer Number field name (KUNNR) in the "Field Name" and Execute. This would show you all the transparent tables where the Customer number is stored.

Reporting on Master data Infoobject

Hi Team,
We have a scenario, where we need to report on top of infoobject because the data is available only on that infoobject.
The infoobject is serial number details has attributes like customer and status etc.. we need to report how many serial numbers are active and non active. We have more data with with serial number, but there is no filtering option like period, profit cenetr etc.
Can you pls provide us nice solution to report this scenorio.

Reporting on Master data

Hi,
Can anyone help me out how to do reporting in master data for example I have an infoobject IO_MATNO, I have loaded attribute, text and transaction data ,noe I went to the cube and right clicked on it & selected the option insert characterstic as data targetthen I can see the attribute & text data under the infocube now when I right click on the attribute file and say create updtae rules ,then I gave the name of the insosrc as IO_MATNO, but it is displaying hte msg does not exist
IS this procedure wrong to do reporting on Master data, if I am wrong pls correct me

Hi,
Once we make the MAster infoobject as the data target, then we can create the report on the master data. to make the IO as Data target , you just need to mention the tick mark for Infoprovide check box in the MAster data /Texts tab page of the IO.

InfoProvider:
This indicator specifies whether the characteristic is an InfoProvider.
If you want to use a characteristic as an InfoProvider, you have to assign an InfoArea to the characteristic. The system displays the characteristic in the InfoProvider tree in the Data Warehousing Workbench. You can use the characteristic as an InfoProvider in reporting and analysis.
You can only use a characteristic as an InfoProvider if the characteristic contains texts or attributes.
You can define queries for the characteristic (more precisely, for the master data of the characteristic) if you are using a characteristic as an InfoProvider. In this case, on the Attributes tabstrip, you are able to switch-on dual-level navigation attributes (navigation attributes for navigation attributes) for this characteristic in its role as InfoProvider.

yes you can generate a report .
use the master data infoobject and insert that infoobject as a infoprovider and design a query using this infoprovider and view your query on this master data in Bex Query...

I have to fetch the record_type from a lookup where I can have any of the record type, sometime USES, HOW TO USE, SIDE EFFECTS and sometimes some other set of record types
In my report I have to get these record typpes as field name dynamically whichever is available in that lookup and record values against them.
its a BI Publisher report.

if you have data in db then you can create xml with needed structure
and so you can create bip report

How can I extract non-cumulative cube data to another cubes ?

Dear Expert,
         I copied inventory cube 0ic_c03 to a new cube : ZIC_C03 , then I loaded the data of 0ic_c03 to the new cube ZIC_C03 .
the loading was sucessful, but the result of report of the ZIC_C03 was not correct. After looking into the problem, I found out
the new cube can successfully extract data related with "Goods movement" & "Revaluation", yet the extract of "Open Balance" does not seems to work.
         I have read through Note:375098, in which I could not find (InfoObject 0RECORDTP) in my start routine as mentioned in the solution
,and the note was not mentioned valid for BW 3.5 release.
         How can I extract non-cumulative cube data to another cubes correctly in BW3.5 release SP20?

Depending upon the definition of an infoobject, the tables are created when the objects are activated.
