How can we make our iphones separate entities?!

My husband recently update his iphone (so both have iphone 4s now) he synced to our computer in icloud and ended up with all my apps, numbers and even my yahoo account and some text messages that were on my phone when i last synced. He then sat and deleted said text messages (that i needed cos of info in them!!) and started to delete my friends numbers from his phone, they were all deleted from mine too!! This is a real pain! What have we done wrong and can we rectify it? We really need them seperated ideally. ( I have sorted the email part)
Also can you back up to icloud without backing up texts/apps as i really only want to back up contacts and calenders?

There are two ways that I can think of to accomplish what you want.
The best way would be for each of your to have your own Apple ID. Then set up separate accounts on your computer. Tis will keep each of your apps, photos, music, etc separate.
If you both want to share an Apple ID for some reason, You should be way more careful when you sync. Select only those apps and other things that you want on each device before clicking on Apply or Sync.

If you're trying to decide between using POP and IMAP, we encourage you to use IMAP.
Unlike POP, IMAP offers two-way communication between your web Gmail and your email client. This means when you log in to Gmail using a web browser, actions you perform on email clients and mobile devices (ex: putting mail in a 'work' folder) will instantly and automatically appear in Gmail (ex: it will already have a 'work' label on that email the next time you sign in).
IMAP also provides a better method to access your mail from multiple devices. If you check your email at work, on your mobile phone, and again at home, IMAP ensures that new mail is accessible from any device at any given time.
Finally, IMAP offers a more stable experience overall. Whereas POP is prone to losing messages or downloading the same messages multiple times, IMAP avoids this through two-way syncing capabilities between your mail clients and your web Gmail.

I know it is not dead because I can see the apple logo on, and every time I connect it to a USB port to charge, or a wall charger, the battery appears with a bit of red. Still, it wont turn on. It's been like this for three days now and I haven't stopped charging it. IT just WONT charge? Any tips I can use to solve the issue?

It sounds like the iPhone is experiencing issues upon startup, and may not be loading the firmware or operating system correctly. If you have not already done so, try resetting the iPhone while connected to power:

I wanted this function as well and I just downloaded "BBClendar Free" and it works perfectly for this, better than an inexpensive digital watch!
Just go to the Advanced section, enable the hourly beep and even set which hours (mine is 8 AM - 10 PM) and what minute of each hour it beeps on. Just be sure to leave the program open when you go on standby or it won't beep.
As the App's description says, "Hourly Beep helps you to take a moment to rest in a busy day for every hour."

I have a BT internet account which I use with my PC and my iPad. The iPad is set to leave all messages on my server for subsequent download to my PC on which I keep a copy of all messages.          Thanks for your reply. I am indeed using an IMAP account on my iPhone, but the problem is that I am using the same account on both my iPad and my new iPhone, both using the same ios. .
   When on the iPad I go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Account, I get a pop-up overlay on which there is an Advanced option which takes me to a page where I can select an option under the Incoming Settings section to 'Delete from Server' on which I have selected 'Never' (The Server Port is 110).
When on iPhone, and I go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Account, I get a similar page but when I select Advanced I get where the Advanced option appears in the iPad under the Incoming Settings , ther is simply a statement saying 'IMAP Path Prefix /', and the server port is 143.
   Any suggestions, please?

My thought exactly. I would like to know why Apple designed it this way. I think you should be able to manage your files on any computer with any product. This has been my biggest gripe about Apple. If I have a song or photo on my desktop computer and want it on my iphone great. I should also be able to take that song or photo from my iphone and put it on my laptop at work. Hmmmm.

It is a software issue but the fix with the phone not wanting to stay connected to a router can be fixed through the router settings. You have to get into your router settings and make sure that you change your broadcast channel to one single channel. Then reconnect to the router that should fix the dropping of wifi. I have seen a lot of posts on this and did not experience any issue until my router settings were reset after messing around with the phone restoring and trying all the fixes I went back into the settings on my router and noticed my broadcast channel was set on auto I changed that and so far no drop on wifi in 36 hrs. It is a software issue though that apple programmers need to address.

I do know how to make my iPhone's wifi "forget" a Network (like, say, a neighbor's wireless router).
However, my iPhone keeps defaulting to a neighbor's "Airport Extreme" Airport Base Station. When it does this, of course I have no connectivity. Then, I have to go in and manually choose my own apartment's wireless router. It's a pain.
I cannot find any way to make my iPhone forget or ignore this neighbor's Airport Base Station. Is there a way?

I reset the network settings, and also made sure that "ask to join networks" is set to "On."
When it started up, I turned on the iPhone's wifi, and chose my own apartment router (and entered its password).
I then went to the farthest corner of the apartment away from our own router, where the signal is weakest, and turned wireless off and then on again. Even though my own router's signal was very weak, the iPhone still chose that router by default.
If the problem comes up again, I'll submit the question again with the information that I have tried this step. For now, though, it looks good. Thanks!

When I draft a message, a suggestion list appears of email addresses I've recently sent emails to. How do I make my phone forget them? I don't want them to appear! I've tried deleting my mail account and starting over, and yet they still are there. I went on my gmail on my mac and they don't appear when I draft an email there. My phone is remembering them, not gmail. HELP!

My iPhone isn't connected to iTunes but the past few days it has been telling me to connect so I have tried but when I plug it in it doesn't show up under 'devices'. I thought maybe there was something wrong with my computer or iTunes so I plugged in my iPod. However, this synced to iTunes successfully. I don't know how to make my iPhone sync with iTunes but somehow I need to get this problem solved otherwise I will not be able to use my phone!
