How can you get rid of icons in menu bar?

I recently took my MacBook to the local store to have it cleared and restored back to factory settings. I have the OS X Mountain Lion program installed. I set up two accounts (Admin account and second one to use). When I turned my computer off and back on again, I've noticed a Guest account. When I went into my System Preferences to get rid of it, I've noticed that it's greyed out (so I can't delete it). Another issue I'm having is a symbol I'm seeing up top in my menu bar (<--->. Does anyone know what this means and how I can go about getting rid of it?

In the area where it allows you to add or delete the delete symbol is greyed (shaded) out where I don't have that option to delete the "guest" account. And the ethernet symbol I'm seeing in the right hand corner of my screen is still there after deleting it in the System Preference/Network section.

basics for ridding of the actual babylon searchbar is like this...
loading firefox, noticed that my google search bar wasnt google anymore and had ababylon icon instead!
ASLO the browser displayed a FAKE GOOGLE search page!
so i opened firefox, typed "about:config" in url bar and then you look just underneath the url bar, and you'll see another search bar.
type babylon into it. right click on all of the results, and click reset.
thats it now disabled totally for now.
next go to tools>addons and look down the list and click uninstall babylon...
bingo.
but its not over yet! .....
next go to start> search and type "babylon" (without the quotes) and see what comes up, mainly in programme files\mozzilla\search plugins
and in the macromedia folder. if you get a "cannot delete.." notice, then that just means you havnt closed firefox (wich is odd coz you've apparently uninstalled the bug*er), so close firefox, then delete. you should now get rid of them all.
it DOSNT show up on add/remove programmes, and it didnt show up on uninstall in advanced system care, though you may try the other uninstall button to the right , but you'll need to type in the "pathways" ( eg C:\my computer\programme files/etc).
i'm still not convinced that this is the end of it though.
from other forums i have noticed folk contacting AND phoning babylon and basaically being either abused or told they wont help.
it seems to be invisible to AVG (i have the premium one too!) though around the time i installed the xvid codecs i did get an avg notice warning of an infection found in my t-mobile modem (dongle) but it seemed to actually be the tmobile liveupdat.exe, so i left it as i am sure i would get even worse problems if a effed around with it. (ie no connection, (eventually)

How can you get rid of the stripe on the homescreen created in ios 7?

I found this question some months ago, but no one had a method to resolve it.
I wanted to remove the solid stripe across the bottom of my ipad 4 homescreen. I think it's been called an app park, a shelf, and an applications easy access. Whatever it is, I really hate it. I like a solid black screen. There was a transparency to the old ios---I have on my iphone because I didn't update it to 7 when I found out it did this. This one is solid and grey! Really ugly. Is there any way to get rid of it, make it transparent, or at least minimize it?

Hi again. Well, it isn't death-defying or anything. And it isn't only because I CAN'T customize it and that burns me. It wastes my desktop space because I don't use it. When you are visually impaired---real estate on the desktop is pretty important. I usually have a black screen to see the icons better, but if I have a picture---the bottom is chopped off with this ugly gray stripe. The old 6.0.3 had the shelf, but it was transparent. It didn't bother me. This one does. That simple. I thought I saw instructions to at least change the color or something somewhere, but that was when it was new, and I can't find that again anywhere online. I guess everyone else got on board (moo), and I'm the only one left that still hates it.
I know these things are supposed to be updates, but I think Apple missed the boat on this one and screwed up a good thing. Maybe they fixed it in 7.4? (wishful) Anyway, I'm not even offered that IOS. Mine is still asking me to update to 7.1. I guess you have to update in order? I'm working in 7.0.4; that's the IOS that came with the unit in December.

How can you get rid of Genius function without losing iTunes 8.0?

I recently updated iTunes to Version 8.0 with the Genius function, but I have the feeling that this program is taking up space on my hard drive that I don't want to lose. I understand that you can turn off Genius in the Store menu, but it's still on my computer.
So, how do I eliminate the Genius function altogether from the version of iTunes on my computer? Is it possible? Or will I have to just go back to an older version that doesn't have Genius at all. I want to free up the space on my hard drive that the Genius program is using.
In a previous thread <http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1703834&tstart=15>, a user seemed to ask this question, but it never really was answered.
Any help from other users would be greatly appreciated.

AS it says in the thread you referred to you can turn off the genius function so it is not active.
You do this on the Store menu.
You can delete iTunes Library Genius.itdb in the iTunes folder. Normally if genius is switched on, it gets recreated, but I guess it may not if Genius is turned off, or at least it would remain small.
You can't remove genius from iTunes, it is part of the program.

How do I get rid of the stupid menu bar on my 2nd display?

I do not want my menu bar to display on my 2nd monitor. The fact that apple decided that it would be okay to reduce my usable space on my 2nd screen infuriates me. How do I revert this back to how it was previously? I don't want the menu bar (or the dock) on the 2nd screen, at all.
I didn't see any settings to get rid of it, so I assume there is a defaults write to get rid of it..
When I "drag the menu bar" to get rid of it, via the settings, nothing happens. It is still there, except now it is greyed (and still useless). And it still takes up the space and makes the 2nd screen less useful.
I want it to behave like it did previously: the 2nd monitor has no menu bar that blocks usage, and is used as a place where I drag extra windows.
Any help? This is /really/ annoying and I honestly regret upgrading.

This will remove the dock & menu bar from your 2nd monitor. Unfortunately, until there is an update, you have to choose between the two options.

That problem has nothing to do with format settings. It is a burn-in, which is set in the view settings (timeline panel), and also you can deactivate in the render settings.

That is a WiFi Hotspot notification. is there a WiFi Hotspot near you? If you're WiFi is ON and there is one near you, it will automatically detect it and ask your credentials.

Leliforever, cheek you list of installed add-ons, the Ask toolbar can be installed without the users knowledge.
