How can you sort albums in coverflow by category??

My cover flow shows over 200 albums alphabetized by artists.
Is there any way to have coverflow sorted to display the albums sorted by
categories and within categories by artists?
Example-I have three categories of albums
classical
jazz
rock
I'd like to have coverflow display all the classical albums first
then followed by jazz category, and by rock category

I would also be interested in sorting options, and also displaying different fields under the coverflow picture.
Standards seems to be
- Album
- Album Artist

Found the group in store (in this case Juana Molina) It said music -> alternative
Changed to column view, and could not find the artist at all in any of the sub categories.
iTunes is really the biggest pain in the .... and has gotten worse over the years.

How can you sort an album that was released in 2007 but has 80s music on

I have v8 of iTunes, almost completed all my tagging how I want it in iTunes for all my music
I have a query though, I have a 80s, 90s smart playlist.
I have recently got an album that was released in 2007, so the year in my library is 2007, however all the music on that album is from the 80s.
So can you tag with 2 years, ie Album release date and song release (original date) or can you sort the album to show its songs from the 80s.
Someone must have the same issue, especially from compilation albums

ahh, was hoping it may have had a "overall" year or album year release date.
Man that means I gotta tag a lot of my music with the correct year now then, as the compilation albums I got all tagged form web with year released

How can you sort without adding all the music to iTunes?

I'm an older person and I don't get it. At first I just had a shuffle and I downloaded specific songs into iTunes that I liked. Then I upgraded. I loaded a whole bunch of cd's into various libraries at various times on an external hard drive. Now, I have a ton of music and would love an easy way to organize it! There are lots of duplicates and lots of songs I just don't like. The trouble is, I haven't figured out how to just see a list of all the songs and sort and delete from the list. I have to open a library and then I get a bunch of file folders of an album or two. Then I have to open the album to see the songs. If I forget what the song sounds like and I click on it to play it, the album goes automatically into iTunes. I don't have enough room on my pc for all that music to go right into iTunes. Do you get my question?? Can you help me?

When you play a song with iTunes, it automatically gets added to the library, as you noticed.
If you just want to play the song so you can decide whether to keep or delete it, use another player. You may already have Windows Media Player on your machine. If not you can download Winamp.
When you are done sorting, add the ones you want into your iTunes library

How can I sort albums by album artist while keeping compilations together?

Argh, I'm getting a bit exasperated. Basically I just want to be able to scroll through cover flow and see all my albums with one cover representing each album, with all the compilations near the end under "V" for various. Surely most people would want to scroll through their albums in this way??
So I've gone through and added all the album artist info, which has worked fine for the artist albums. But for all the "Various" ones, instead of doing the logical thing and grouping them together by album, iTunes orders these all by track artist. There doesn't seem to be any secondary sort function..
I'm always defending Mac and Apple products for their logical applications and ease of use, and now I feel let down.. If there's a way around this please let me know! Thanks,

The trouble you're encountering is that iTunes sorts first by Album Artist, then by Artist. Thus, within each Album Artist, you'll get multiple Artist clumps.
You want to sort "Album by Artist". This will, first, strip out all your compilations and sort them to the end of your library, then sort using the hierarchy Album Artist (or Artist if there is none) > Album > Disc # > Track #. Click the Album column header until Album by Artist is displayed. (You can also choose Album by Year, which will sort albums chronologically within Album Artist.)
If you want to keep albums together, you'll need to sort on an Album column; other columns are bound to clump things by whatever you're sorting on.

HOw can music be sorted by the artist in iOS 8.02 !? It only sorts by song title right now.. why not allow us to select how it is sorted.. like every other NORMAL application in the world?!

How can you sort bookmarks in the Sidebar by date added? Works in Library but does not carry over to Sidebar.

When opening the Bookmarks Sidebar, the oldest bookmarks added are at the very top, easily visible.
The most recent bookmarks added are at the bottom, requiring me to scroll all the way down every time I want to visit a recent bookmark. This is a major nuisance. I'm actually a little shocked that this happens when it's such an obvious hassle.
How can I flip the list of bookmarks so the newest ones are right at the top where I can easily access them?
Sorting in the Library does not carry over to the Sidebar as far as I can tell.

Looks as though the SortPlaces add-on should be able to do it.

How can I sort albums on ipad in A-Z order ?

I have 200 albums in my iPad. They are multiple pictures of individual cars. I have them titled by year and make. Is there a way to sort them by title instead of moving them around by hand?

I believe that albums are sorted by the creation date. I don't think that you can change this in the Photos App.

I love the new album view in iTunes 11, but the only problem I have with it is sometimes albums are in the wrong order.
For example, last year Green Day released a trilogy of albums called ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! but since they were released in the same year, they're ordered as ¡Dos!, ¡Tré, ¡Uno! when sorted by artist and then year which really doesn't sit right with me.
In short, the sorting options for albums view are very limited, is there any way to extend them?
Also I'm aware that I could, as a cheap fix, change the sorting in album to the release date backwards, but I'd rather not do that as it would make it a bit more troublesome for me to navigate my albums on my iPhone.

I agree that Apple should improve the year field to be an actual date.
I am not 100% happy doing this, but when you have multiple albums from a single artist for the same release year, a temporary solution is to chage the album title by adding an outline type letter before album titles for that year, so that they appear in the correct order:
David Bowie
1977
a. Low
David Bowie
1977
b. "Heroes"
etc
This could help in the short term until Apple changes that field.

Is there a way to get iTunes - including the app store to give a view that you can sort by ration or number of downloads.
I assume they would have this since they are all about ease-of use.

I would like to purchase TV series and I am a SF fan. Unfortunatly there is a "big" category on the apple Itune store wich is "Drama", that cover many types of series. When selecting "Grimm", the category changes to "SF & Fantasy". So I am looking for a way to filter the TV shows by such category rather than by Drama.

When you use the word Category what you are talking about is Genre
In the get info box on the info tab you can set it at the bottom. If Sci-Fi and Fantasy or whatever you want is not in there then type in whatever value you want and it will assign it

How can you rotate the labels on the category axis of a graph in Illustrator and have it stay the same when updating the graph data?

I am needing to create a line graph with dates consisting of MM/DD/YY along the category axis. I would like to rotate the labels 45 degrees and have them stay when I update the graph. I have read about manually doing it, I even made an action to make it faster, but it still seems inefficient. Is there a setting that I could use to automatically create my labels as rotated? I'm curious about why you are using 2 loops. You mentioned one is for monitoring and one is for DAQ....what do you mean by that? What is the overall goal of this piece of code. Also, I noticed that you are not closing the task. Since this is just a subset, I realize you could be closing it in your actual code, but just in case you're not.....it is very important that you close all tasks when you are down acquiring data.
