How can you tell what week you have and if it's refurbished?

Hello. I just did a phone swap and it was a white box. I'm wondering if there's any way to tell if it's a refurb? The genius said it's new, but I'm just curious.
Also, I've heard that the first 5 digits are the week? Like mine is
82832 - that means factory 82 the year 2008 and week 32? Is this correct?

Okay ... so it's not a refurb? - I didn't think so, but the guy did it differently than the last 2 times. The last two times, they gave me a brand new sealed box. So far, I have no complaints - battery seems to be going quick, but I've been playing games. And there is a MINOR speck of dust on the left side, but not worth fussing about.
I'm annoyed that I still have the box from my other one, but what are you gonna do? This is the best one I've had so far, so I'll sacrifice the sealed box going with it.

What version of Oracle are you running (standard or enterprise)?
Easist system is to run an AWR or statspack report. If you run either of these you will see sections on segments (so segments by logical reads, physical reads) which is easily digestible.
v$segment_statistics will also give you a breakdown on segment access.

I know this is a lame question, but is the Version listed in the About section of my iPod Touch the iOS version? Mine shows as version 4.2.1 and iTunes tells me it's the latest version, but I don't see it in the list of Operating Systems in the dropm down provided. I only ask as I know this is a 2nd Gen iPod touch, but some apps don't indicate if they will operate properly on this version.

ios 4.2.1 is the latest available for ipod touch 2nd gen.

it does support a 2.53 533 chip. try downloading the bios and using the utility to detect the chipset, but im pretty sure you have a 6533

You can see which apps are open and/or recently used by double-clicking the home button to bring up the taskbar at the bottom of the screen (not all apps that appear there are active) - you can then close apps on it by pressing and holding one of them for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar. If you have an app 'open' on-screen then it won't appear on the taskbar, you will need to go back to the homescreen first, and it should then show when you next open the taskbar.

Not a problem, but that indicates you have a lot to learn.
File extensions like mpeg, mp4., avi, wmv, etc. are just wrappers. It is like a box the audio or video content is placed inside. The audio and video content must be encoded with a codec before it is placed in the box. There are thousands of codecs. Not all are installed on your Mac. You must have the same codec installed that encoded the video in order to play it. So, while Quicktime does support mpeg wrapper, it may not have the codecs to decode the internal video.
Some programs have lots of the codecs available to them, like VLC, Niceplayer, MPlayerX, etc.
You can also get "plug-ins" for Quicktime that add codecs to Quicktime, like Perian. Although it is no longer being developed, Perian still works well.
Why is it so difficult? Probably because they are always working on ways to compress the video to get better playback.

Usually other is files that have been copied to the iPod directly, or space you have told the iPod to reserve for other files by enabling disk use.
